There was a lot of poverty around in those days and the lady teacher would boil a kettle on the fire and supply tea and bread and jam to those who came to school without breakfast. She was a wonderful, kind, lady who I will never forget. That's about it. I was a lousy student and often got the cane (from the other teacher of course).

As a new Mom to the area I found the school to be very friendly, welcoming, and the staff to be warm, interested and very caring of our wonderful children. Since they have started through the system, our kids have really come out of themselves and are getting the best education we can give them. The resource time and teaching has really helped and our child has improved in leaps and bounds. I really can not speak highly of both the staff, pupils and the great social side to the parents association who have and are working flat out to keep the school fitted out with the best of equipment. That's the official blurb but it was much more down to earth in Midleton. Here, Agri Aware brought their Mobile Farm, a bunch of farm animals, to meet the kids, not just the younger generation either, I hasten to add. Ducks and hens and their young were petted and admired as were the goats and calves. Enjoyed it myself! This Munster area Agri Aware Mobile Farm is owned and managed by Claire Stack. My friend and I had a really fun time exploring this campus. We went there on Sunday, so…read moreunfortunately, most of the campus was closed, but not the stone corridors! These corridors features ancient tombstone dating back to the 2nd century A.D. Also, make sure to stop by the IRA Volunteers Memorial at the part of campus that used to be the old Cork Gaol. The most fun we had was sneaking into open classrooms and conference rooms. Our favorite was a large conference room filled wall-to-wall with encyclopedias. Yeah, I suppose the intended goal of those open doors wasn't so two yanks could sneak around historic buildings and breathtaking conference rooms, but well, it was certainly the outcome. UCC was easily the best campus we visited in Ireland.

The premises, now in Mary Street, also has an art gallery and that was one of the reasons I visited today. It is a quite a decent space and some thirty paintings by Catherine Laisne--O'Rourke were efficiently and comfortably accommodated in the gallery space. There are some still life and also depictions of beach life both in France (Normandy) and Ireland (Kerry). Must admit, I wasn't stirred or shaken by the exhibition but I did really like the two paintings entitled Beautiful Old Wooden Door.

I am new to Cork…read moreand returning to driving after a period living abroad for years without a car so I was a bit daunted but Joe helped to put me at ease. I was able to have lessons in the ISM vehicle and then my own and it gave me the confidence I needed to start driving around by myself. The ISM team were very helpful and easy to deal with - I was gifted a voucher from my family to get me back on the road and I'm glad they chose ISM. Redeeming the voucher was so straightforward and they explained the processes really well and really listened to what I was looking for in terms of lesson timing and content - they put me in touch with Joe and I'm so happy with his teaching and guidance. I cannot recommend ISM and Joe Lawton highly enough :)

I am a mature driver and I have to write to recommend Eugene. He is a natural teacher and is an…read moreamazing instructor. I had 4 lessons with him and then passed my driving test last year. I was nervous and he really put me at ease. I have had 3 other instructors in the past, but none of them taught me as well as Eugene. If I had found him sooner, I might have not put off getting my license for so long.

The hotel is very high quality for the price, the staff and service are excellent, and the rooms are always clean. There is a lot of novalty value with the hotel but it remains very tastefully done and stylish. I never worry about the quality when I book this hotel as I know I will be happy and able to work whenever I want as there is a free wifi connection. Love the restaurants and on site bakery which makes everywhere smell nice in the morning. My only criticism is: there aren't more like it.

Everywhere you look you will see something unusual. We stayed in a business class room which was fabulous. It had two luxurious double beds, two shower rooms with underfloor heating, a huge flatscreen TV, well stocked mini-bar and wifi. A fantastically reliable minibus ran on demand to the airport although it could be walked in minutes. Buses at airport take you to Cork City or surrounding areas like beautiful seaside Kinsale. Cannot recommend the hotel highly enough. Staff cannot do enough for you. And all for a bargain price of £149 for 2 nights!
