Just outside wheatley and very easy to get to - and park - The taste of India is in an ideal…read morelocation. Although fixed on to a pub (i think its called The Chequers?) it is very clean, not too noisy and perfect for a friendly dinner. Un-plastered Painted brick walls makes it not too posh, whilst the hand painted elephants give it a sense of fun. I went to this indian in a party of 8. We were seated quickly (we had booked) and our drink order was taken. You can get drinks from the bar also if wish to keep them on a separate tab. The house wine was about a tenner and although i did not drink it, i was told it was very nice. The menu is extensive consisting of starters, mains but also set meals. The 8 of us decided to make it simple and order a 'Let the chef decide' at about £14 a head. First we were served a mountain of popadoms and the usual sauces and sides - all of which were very very nice. Be careful not too eat too much popadom as they can be surprisingly filling!! Next came the starter for which we were fiven a mixed starter each - Chicken, fried veg and kebab meat. IT WAS TO DIE FOR. it was really really good and the meat tasted real fresh. Not dried up kebab meat as can be found! The mains were delicious. We had 4 mains x2 so for 4 people you would get four mains. You also get a rice each and also a few sides such as bombay potatoe. The mains were really big. Ours included a korma, a spicy tomatoes one, a mild lamb one and also one that ive never had before but was lovely. We vasked for a korma to be included as one of our party does not like spicy food. They were more than obliging. The service was not the fastest but i cant really complain. They were smiley and friendly and asked if the food was okay. Which it was. You can expect to pay about £15 for food unless pick individual meals that are really expensive, plus drinks which are usual price. I would highly recommend this indian for couples or groups alike it really is VERY VERY GOOD.

Today we were at our hotel trying to find some where to eat, then our waiter (at the hotel) told us…read moreabout some good Indian restaurants and that was one of them... so we when there and he was not wrong. The servers were incredibly amazing, the place was neat and tidy, and the food was the best part! It was the best I had! Back home we had average Indian restaurants but I thought that we had the best, and well Oxford has the best, making our Indian places back home are not as good so now that we had our food, I told them that I would leave the best review ever in the history of that place and well I don't know if it is or not. And did I not mention the area of the restaurant, a neat little pub right next to the place. And here are some recommendations for me for starters? Popadoms, main course? Chicken curry, for dessert? Masala tea (a go to for me) and ice cream (choose vanilla if you are a acceptable person if you have a good appetite like me than you would like to choose Swiss chocolate big hit for me)

It was a great meal, interesting menu with old favourites and new items! A hidden gem just north of…read morethe city centre.
