We take turns sampling different cuisines,…read moreand this place was the best looking Indian place within a reasonable distance of the workplace. So we got off work and raced on over. Ambiance is nice. Good lighting, classy looking tables, some nice, chill Indian music playing softly in the background. Good stuff. Service was good. Our server was very friendly and did his best to answer our questions. We needed some allergy friendly food, and there were a few questions where he just didn't know and made a best guest. That's fair, I guess, but that just needs to be better. Food came out timely and nice and hot, the tandoori chicken sizzling up a storm. Now for the food. I started off by getting a Vegetarian Special Appetizer (A combination platter with samosa, aloo tikki, onion bhajiya, mixed pakoras and chili pakoras) for the table. These are always fun, because you don't always know what you're eating. Samosas are always wonderful, and the onion bhajiya is like a better latke. Get this if you like to sample things. Then I had a Lamb Biryani (Lamb and basmati rice cooked with saffron and spices, garnished with cilantro, nuts and raisins). If you're a biryani fan, I'd probably pass on this one. Not a great example of biryani. Very little saffron and other garnishes. There are other great things on this menu. Of course, I had to get some Garlic Naan (Light bread made with fresh garlic, herbs and cilantro). A+ delicious. Light, rippable, soft, garlicky, good for grabbing food like you don't have silverware and adding flavor and texture to every bite. The Chicken Tandoori (Chicken marinated overnight in yogurt with fresh Indian spices and grilled in a clay oven) came out last and on its own, sizzling like the center of attention like a steak fajita. Chicken was well-cooked and very tender. Lots of good flavor, but maybe a little too salty. Overall, this was a very good introduction to Indian food for a few of my co-workers. I'm glad we came. It was a nice visit.

I will say be cautious with spice because it comes with the heat - but also tons of flavor. My favorites dishes are the Lamb Biryani and the Chicken Tikka. The rice is so fluffy and delicious too! Don't forget the veggie samosas either - they come 2/order and are filling. Today I went in during lunch to pick up food for an office meeting. The staff were very friendly and the smell of the lunch buffet was amazing!! It's a simple restaurant with a lot of authentic flavor that hits the spot, every time.

We have trusted them to host our large party lunch events 2-3 times now, and they always hit a home run.Our most recent visit on June 25th was spectacular. The Rava Dosa was perfectly crisp, and they treated us to an incredible, authentic Kulfi dessert. What truly elevates Tamarind is the exceptional leadership and hospitality. The manager, Md Al Mamun, runs a flawless operation. Their team member, Deb, is one of the most humble, genuine, and accommodating guys you will ever meet in hospitality. To top it all off, the owner, Chef Amit Kumar (whom I first met 21 years ago!), continues to deliver world-class flavor and hospitality.Whether you are bringing a massive group or coming in for a casual lunch, they will make you feel like family. The ambiance is just okay--nothing particularly special--and it was noticeably warm inside. With Indian food already being on the spicier side, a cooler temperature would definitely make the dining experience more comfortable. We ordered the rogan josh, palak chaat, samosas, chicken biryani, Jaipur dosa, garlic naan, and a few drinks. Service started off a bit slow--we waited a while for our drinks--but once things got going, the food came out fairly quickly. One thing I really appreciated was the variety of chutneys served with the appetizers. That was a great touch, especially since many places tend to be pretty minimal with those. Everything we ordered tasted really good, and you can tell the flavors were well done. See photos below. Our total came to $105 for everything, which felt reasonable for the amount of food we got. Overall, the food is definitely worth it. Next time, though, we'll probably go with takeout to skip the wait and enjoy it at home.

Inside, the place is really nice, almost formal. Dark dining room with nice tables and booths. Cool artwork and lamps. Service was very interesting. Our host, maybe owner(?) was super chatty. I prefer service to be get and get out promptly but she was recommending items, asking questions, and determining herself what we really wanted. Hey, maybe some people really like that to get a great experience. I found it a bit much but she was super nice. We got the veggies platter appetizer which was fantastic. The server really pushed the lamb samosas which were fine but I should have passed. And for entrees we got butter chicken, tikka masala veggies, and shrimp korma with garlic naan and a fantastic plate of basmati rice. The meal was great! The sauces/gravies were so delicious. And honestly, some of the best basmati around. Come for the food! Definitely recommend this place. And for Amex users, a great credit as well. Definitely worth it.

This place came highly recommended, so we decided to stop for lunch around 1230 pm on a weekday. They were empty. We were greeted by a very friendly man with a mustache who seated us quickly and brought cold water to our table. They had the buffet which my daughter ordered. I opted to order off of the menu and got medium spice chicken vindaloo and garlic naan. The buffet had a variety of chicken, lamb, and lentil dishes. Her chicken dishes looked fantastic-fresh, white meant chicken chunks. Her lentil and potatoes looked dry but her only complaint was that they were bland for her taste. In fairness, she likes spicy dishes. I am very picky about my protein so take my next sentence with that in mind, if you are also picky: My chicken vindaloo was all potatoes with 3-4 pieces of dark meat chicken held together by fat and gristle. The chicken was inedible. The sauce was too thick-I have eaten vindaloo many many places and never had it look like this in my life. It was clumpy. The basmati rice it came with was fine. The garlic naan I ordered and the butter naan (came with the buffet) were both so soaked in butter that the naan was immediately soggy and not at all good. I think that the key to this place is to order off the buffet during lunch. Indeed, the man who seated us appeared to "highly suggest" the buffet and seemed nonplussed when I requested the menu. We were so disappointed in this place and will not return.

Atmosphere was nice, everything had a upscale touch to it. They give the table a fancy pitcher of water and glass then tell you to start when your ready. Nana was hot and fresh. Basic selections but not many. The chicken tikka masala was good, nothing stuck out. No goat curry they had goat rice but was underwhelmed that they didnt have the curry. Filled the craving for Indian food and would go again for lunch but wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.
