It's a rare thing indeed to find service excellence at an affordable price in any field. When you…read morefind it in car care for a foreign vehicle, it needs to be celebrated and shared. That's the experience I had with Indian Trail Imports and particularly with Josh. I commute once a week from Jacksonville, FL to Charlotte. My go to mechanic is at Jax Beach. I was traveling to CLT and the suspension in my 2012 X5 BMW (beloved Inge is her name) failed while I was driving on the highway. It felt like driving a stage coach on a rough road. I made it here and the issue continued to get worse. Not wanting to get ripped off by the dealership and needing to get her fixed quickly so I could return home, I started searching every source for a reliable, affordable, fast foreign mechanic shop. The top of the top ten based on raving reviews and checking for the fewest poor reviews was Indian Trail Imports. I called on a Thursday afternoon and asked if they could possibly fit me in on Friday morning. I explained my issue and they said they would do everything they could. I picked up a rental thinking it could be days. Friday afternoon Josh called and said they figured out the problem. A suspension bag had collapsed. They gave me a VERY fair price and I said DO IT! Josh called back to say it was ready. As I was driving to drop off the rental, he called to say it looked to be sagging on the fixed side. They were going back in. As we say in the Army, attention to detail! The air line had been chewed by rodents. Not having a part they improvised a fix to secure the line so I could get home and get it fixed. He also let me know that I should keep an eye on my front suspension and educated me on what to be aware of and the range of costs to fix it. The next day, on a Saturday, he called to check if I made it home and if everything was running correctly. Come on people, is this guy for real??? Yep! Oscar Foxtrot Sierra (Out Fricking Standing) Josh and Indian Trail Imports Team. You are my new go to for all of Inge's maintenance. Thank You!!!

This was my second experience with European Automaster. My first visit was very positive--Chris was…read morepersonable, and the work on my car was completed well. While there were moments of informality, I initially overlooked them because the service itself met my expectations. During that first visit, the conversation did shift into political and religious topics, which I found unexpected in a business setting. While I respect that everyone has personal beliefs, I prefer interactions with service providers to remain focused on the work and maintain clear professional boundaries. My second experience was notably different. Approximately six weeks later, when my check engine light came on, my son brought the car in for a diagnostic. From the initial phone interaction, the communication felt noticeably more rushed and less engaged than during my first visit. This tone continued in subsequent interactions. When the car was picked up, the exchange felt brief and somewhat dismissive, which was a clear contrast from the prior experience. It may have been communicated that only a diagnostic could be performed at that time; however, the conversation felt rushed, and that limitation was not clearly understood, which contributed to a disconnect in expectations. A diagnostic report was provided, and we were charged $154. However, no repair was performed. We were informed that he was too busy to complete the repair, would not be available the following week, and would be traveling for an extended period. The check engine light was reset, but the underlying issue was not addressed. During that visit, we were also given an estimated repair cost in the range of $5,000-$6,000. After seeking a second opinion from a mechanic I have worked with for years, I was advised that the issue appears to be relatively minor and not expected to be a high-cost repair. This difference in assessment raised concerns for me. Additionally, I observed visible political items within the business, including in the office and restroom. While personal views are of course individual, I found this to be unexpected in a customer-facing environment and not reflective of a neutral or broadly inclusive setting. I also asked directly whether the change in interaction was related to our prior visit. While I was told it was not, the overall experience felt inconsistent compared to my first visit. As a result, my confidence in both the consistency of service and overall professionalism has been impacted. This is disappointing, as I initially believed I had found a shop I could continue working with. Based on this experience, I will not be returning.

He's worked on…read moreour entire fleet of European vehicles -- an Audi Q7, Audi A3, BMW 328i, Mercedes C300, and Mercedes E350 -- and every single experience has been outstanding. It's rare to find someone this consistent and trustworthy in the automotive world. From the first time we brought a vehicle in, I could tell Chris had a real passion for what he does. He grew up in Europe and has a deep understanding of how these cars are built and what they need to perform at their best. On top of that, he holds multiple certifications, and it really shows -- he's meticulous, methodical, and knows these vehicles inside and out. What separates Chris from other shops is not just his technical expertise, but his integrity. He's always very fair and upfront about what's needed, provides realistic expectations for turnaround time, and in most cases, he finishes sooner than promised. There have been many times when he's found a more efficient or affordable way to get the job done -- saving us literally thousands of dollars across all of our repairs and maintenance. Chris and his staff are also incredibly responsive and accommodating. Whether it's a same-day diagnostic, a quick part order, or just clear communication about next steps, they make the process smooth and stress-free. You never feel like you're being sold to -- they fix what needs fixing, and that's it. There's no push for a $7,000 "recommended service list" when you only came in for one or two issues. That honesty and professionalism are exactly why we keep going back. Beyond the quality of work, Chris is just a genuinely good person -- hardworking, personable, and passionate about his craft. It's refreshing to find someone who treats both his customers and their cars with respect. If you own a European vehicle -- especially Audi, BMW, or Mercedes -- I can't recommend Chris and European AutoMasters enough. Supporting a local, proud business owner like him is not just good for your car, it's good for your peace of mind. Chris is our guy for all of our foreign cars, and he should be yours too.

If I could give Shope's Automotive 0 stars I would!!!…read more I took my daughter's car in based on her warranty with CarMax to repair her heat. After a couple of return visits it still wasn't repaired. The heat would work for a while, but then stop. We ended up having to go to A&M Automotive in Rock Hill, SC to get it fixed. We had to pay out-of-pocket even though this bootleg business had collected the money from CarMax. After my daughter's initial visit, I took my car in for repair. (My daughter's car was temporarily working.) THE WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!! This shop not only TOTALLY DESTROYED my car, but I'm also out of thousands of dollars!!! All of this began in February 2019. We went in because of a spinning sound from the tires. I ended up with a broken broken drive shaft, a hole in my transmission, a hole in my oil pan, a busted shifter and that's just the beginning. We ended up having to go to court. I felt like I had allowed Gomer Pyle and Barney Fife under the hood of my car. Of course we didn't win. It's difficult to prove things with cars. We knew this going in, but we could not sit by and let Jason Shope and his shotty shop get away with destroying another vehicle. We took the car to another shop, but the work done at Shope's Automotive was so shotty, it took this VERY experienced mechanic a while to figure out what could possibly be wrong. The mechanic spoke about how Shope's Automotive forced my car into gear (this should have been a LAST resort), had little to no transmission fluid in the car and how poorly the repair work had been done. I just got my car back today September 7, 2021 by wrecker service. I will give him this. He tried to fix his faulty repairs, but he just doesn't have the skill set. He realizes this so he becomes rude, cruel and obnoxious to cover up for his deficiency. Bottom line...if you never want to see your vehicle in the same or better condition than when you took it in, go to this wannabe mechanic! Others, STEER CLEAR!!! I wouldn't let this Shope's Automotive or Jason Shope perform repair work on my son's Tonka trucks!!!
