As I stepped through the door I was immediately consummed by the scent of one of the luxurious bath products they offer. Being scent sensitive it was a little overwhelming for me but I made due because I wanted to check out their wall of tiny rubber duckies as well as the other products they offered. The Shop owner was very friendly and helped me with my purchase quickly and invited me back to check out their shop window at night when it is all lit up, which I hope to do the next time in town and maybe pick up some more duckies!

They will set up their holiday displays next week. I can recall this store having Department 56 villages as well. Twinkles now sells lots of gift items and jewelry. Both times, the inventory was completely different, which makes every visit feel like a new experience. What makes this place so unique is that all of the merchandise comes from local businesses. You'll find everything from cake pops, juices, ice cream, and fish dip to jewelry, hats, and a small selection of clothing. On my most recent visit, I picked up cooking oils, organic coffee, sourdough bread, and a few other goodies. Just keep in mind--it's a bit hit or miss depending on when you go, since the vendors and products rotate. That's part of the charm, though. The last time I visited was in December, and since then they've had a grand reopening with a new owner, which is exciting. Overall, I think this is an amazing concept--basically like 100 small businesses sharing one space, each with their own little section. It's a great way to support local vendors while discovering new products you wouldn't normally come across. I'll definitely keep coming back to see what new items pop up on the shelves.

It held a general store downstairs and the family lived upstairs. In the northeast corner of the store you can see a small room that used to be an icebox. Town residents would meet on the front porch. In the intervening years the building was a western store, feed store, and a furniture store. In 1993 it became an antique store. Current owner Cathy Wells has owned the business since 1998. The Mercantile is 3,200 sq. ft. and has more than sixty vendors selling countless items over two floors. Furniture, bric-a-brac, dolls, collectibles, jewelry, clothes, china, they have it all. Some of my favorite items were a Lilly Pulitzer dress, glass door knobs, and tiny blue bottles for a dollar. It would take awhile to see everything they have. In true old Florida fashion there is no air conditioning. Buildings built back in the day were designed to move air and they have fans everywhere so the heat wasn't unbearable. The young lady running the store was a sweetheart. I loved the mercantile and all the stuff they sell.
