Recently Dr. Z suggested that we give him a low fat diet that she prescribed as he seems to have PLE. After only a few days on this new diet, my boys energy has gone up, he can run up the stairs again. I can't thank dr z enough. Took off one star just because it takes a while to get inside even with an appointment. But we will take it as they have been great for my dogs.

I called VCA Pearl City on our way there, and they told us to bring him in right away and took him back as soon as we arrived. I was honestly such a mess and extremely worried, but everyone was so thoughtful, kind, and reassuring. They took my concerns seriously, moved quickly, and made me feel like my puppy was in the best hands. Thankfully, after being evaluated, we found out that he hadn't actually eaten the battery! It was such a huge relief. I'm so grateful for the care and compassion the VCA Pearl City team showed us during such a stressful moment. They didn't make me feel silly for being worried--instead, they were incredibly understanding and supportive. That meant so much to me. On September 30th at approximately 11 PM, my dog of 14 years who was already prescribed medicine to…read morehelp ease his pain and was scheduled the next day to see his regular doctor wentinto soft yelps and began labored breathing Two days before he was active running around, playing with his favorite toys and within 12 hours, he went to sitting in seclusion by himself and lost his appetite as the day increased. I contacted his physician at his primary care office. I had sent her videos of his labored breathing and she said it was important to get him in the next day so we scheduled an appointment. However, five hours later his condition worsened and he crawled over to me on the bed, put his head on my chest and begin softly yelping I saw the immense pain he was in and that he was struggling to breathe. I immediately called VCA, which was a 24 hour emergency pet hospital and told them that I was gravely worried that he was in serious danger and that I may have to put him down. They told me to bring him in immediately which we did. When I brought him and wrapped in a blanket, they told me that it was $150 for the doctor to do a consultation on him and at this point, my concern was he was struggling to breathe and he was extremely lethargic so I said please have the doctor check him. I was extremely confused as he had been by loyal companion for 14 years and never had health issues before except for taking some medication that he was on accompanied by his age. As I sat in the waiting room, I asked the girls in the lobby if they wanted to see his prescription medication so that they knew what he was on and they told me that the doctor would talk to me after about 10 minutes. The doctor had come in and told me his abdomen was distended and that he was in a lot of pain and was suffering as I had worried. She had told me that he was weakened by his condition because he had not eaten for two days and that he was extremely weak because of what he was going through she told me she did not know what options would be available for treatment and that because he was suffering, she said that they could hospitalize him and start doing tests or she said that I had the choice of ending his suffering at the moment The doctor was extremely professional and she did not pull punches and told me the truth, and we both knew the fact that at 14 years old, my dog had lived a good life and that his situation was grave and there wasn't truly any hope for him to ever recover to be back to what he was like before he became ill. So I told the doctor that I did not want to see him suffer any further, and I agreed to his euthanizing and asked her if I could kindly stay in the room with him during the whole process. She told me to push a button on the wall when I was ready to have my dog brought to me, and I said if we could kindly do this now before I lose my nerve I just don't want him to suffer anymore. The doctor left the room, and then one of the girls from the front desk came in as I was struggling severely because of what I was facing, and she began throwing $ signs at me for what it cost for this and what it cost for that and I was just trying to get through this process of having to put my dog down. I just handed her my credit card. Told her just charge me whatever you have to charge me to do this and then she was talking to me about cremation and I could do a group cremation or an individual and I was like no I just want individual cremation for my dog and she said to me that she will put the charges together and I told her just take my credit card and charge me for what it cost to get this done. It's about my dog and I just want to make sure that we stop his suffering. They brought my dog to me, and I held him in my arms, and then the doctor came in, and she gave him a sedative that immediately he went limp and then she gave him the final injection and he passed almost immediately the doctor was very sympathetic While I thank the doctor for her compassion and seeing how upset I was, I really felt that the front office staff just didn't see how upset I was and we're throwing financial figures at me left and right when I gave them my credit card and said just charge me what it cost so we can take care of this, but didn't matter to me, I just felt that the girls at the front desk weren't that sympathetic to what I was going through. There has to be a better way to help a human being who is going through severe trauma and grieving and their lifelong companion, instead of throwing $ signs and communal cremations and charging somebody to look at a dying dog and then quoting a price over the phone and then charging me a different price in person.

Customer service is not as great as it used to be. There are currently only 2 original drs that still remain with this practice from the beginning. Prices have gone up like everything else. This clinic was one of the most affordable vets to get your pets looked at. Making appts on the app is great, but you can never get a same day appt when you call unless you pay the higher walk in fee! Little disappointed with customer service and sad that all my dog drs are no longer at this practice.

We were referred to Dr. Gulliver by a friend when we were searching for someone to evaluate a large lump on her front leg. By that point, I had lost confidence in our previous veterinary clinic. There were constantly different young veterinarians, and we could never see the same doctor consistently. I realized how much I value continuity of care, especially for a senior pet. From our very first visit, I knew in my gut that Dr. Gulliver was the real deal. He's incredibly experienced, knowledgeable, compassionate and an outstanding surgeon. He tested & diagnosed the large lump as cancerous and successfully removed it the following week. Knowing he regularly performs surgeries gave us great confidence that she was in skilled hands. She is cancer free today. Since then, Dr. Gulliver has been our dog's veterinarian. He's cared for her through UTIs and has been thorough about running tests to evaluate her kidneys and liver whenever something didn't seem right. A special thank you also goes to Jamie, the office manager. She keeps the office running smoothly, is incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely cares about every patient and their family. The rest of the staff are equally kind, friendly and compassionate.
