The boys got fast food and we were all going to eat outdoors with the pups despite the heat and humidity. There just weren't any spaces for travel trailers available and we almost left and decided to just circle back into the lot, park on the curb in front of the pumps and sit on the curb and eat. Would be 5 stars, but for a travel stop, it wasn't super travel friendly pulling a tiny trailer even.

I would not recommend stopping here if you're trying to get the rest you need as a professional…read moretruck driver. The female employee on duty chose to call law enforcement to wake up and move parked truck drivers instead of treating them with respect. As CDL drivers, we're required to manage our hours of service and get proper rest to stay safe on the road. Waking drivers in the middle of their break and forcing them to move creates unnecessary stress and can affect safety for everyone. If parking restrictions exist, they should be communicated professionally before drivers park--not by having police wake sleeping drivers. I hope management addresses how truckers are treated, because we're the people keeping freight moving across the country.

What's wrong with North Platte? Hard to say... the families here seem nice enough, but this woman hated me on sight and made sure that I knew that she was looking down on me. Background: the bathrooms seemed as if they might be single occupant. This employee had just told a man that he could "go ahead in" to the men's room, so I asked if the women's room was occupied. She snarled at me.

Detour to the restroom where I was pleasantly surprised to find it clean and smelling nice. I've stopped at many roadside gas station restrooms and believe me when I say this one was clean. It was a nice surprise and I lingered a little enjoying it. When I had gotten the soda and was paying, I thanked the attendant who thought I was pulling his leg. But I told him that it was nice to have a clean restroom to use and one which smelled pleasant to boot. He was happy as apparently he was the only male attendant and had been informed his level of cleanliness for the toilets was not up to par. When I was in the car, I was informed that the male restroom was horrendous so I guess I was lucky that I wasn't subjected to the horror. Nevertheless I basked in the warm afterglow of a clean smelling restroom for miles after.
