Planner tikka masala ($20) Chicken saag ($19)
K Q.

The ambience is nice. A great spot for a night out if ambiance is the goal. But if the goal is high-quality Indian food, Fresno/Clovis has better options. The food looked nice but the taste was average with above average prices. Chicken saag was okay at best and cost significantly more than it's worth at $19 (with no rice). The paneer tikka masala was better but was lacking on paneer. At $20 (without rice) it was nearly double the cost of what you could get else where. Rice is included at most Indian restaurants. Here they charge $3. It's not much but it's typically included as a basic necessity. You don't eat most of the dishes here without rice, unless you're paying extra for naan. Naan was okay priced but thin and on the smaller side. At $9 for just three veggie samosas, you'd have better luck stopping by any one of the Indian markets in the area and buying samosas that are larger and priced better. Chutney was good but it was funny how much they gave considering the three small samosas. The one "winner" of the night was the tikki chaat. It was the only thing that was priced well at $13 and delicious. Customer service was severely lacking. The hostess said one thing as we entered, but so softly that I just assumed it was "how many". Walking us to our table and setting the menus down, they said nothing even after I said thank you. I made a point to smile and say thank you when they brought waters but they did so without any response. Again when they brought the plates. When the food came, they put the food down and said what it was but no response to a thank you again. This was near noon on a weekday, with the place nearly empty. I believe only three other small groups there. If they are going for the upscale vibe to justify the high prices then at minimum they need significantly better customer service. A good place for a date if you don't care about the quality of the food prices. But if you want better food at a better price, there are plenty of other options in the area.

LAMB SAMOSA

Been awhile since we've been here. Food is always good here. Service not so much. Our server Karan was very quiet. Had to ask to order. Food was delivered rather quick, only to find it wasn't ours. Lamb Samosas were good, but normally we get sauces. Chicken Biryani was equally good as well as naan. In the past, we would finish the meal with both a sweet and spice component. Not today. Perhaps they don't do this anymore? Place is very beautiful and they give a 15% military discount.

It's so pretty in here

I haven't been to a bad Indian restaurant since I've been eating at them! And this one didn't fail me! We got greeted and our table as soon as We walked in. It is so pretty in here! This is the best decor I've seen in an Indian restaurant. Our order got taken, it didn't take long at all. Mannnn! If y'all haven't tried Indian food it has so much flavor! Everything was so good! And all that we got was only $42.00 it was enough to fees 3 people. We also got basmati rice! When I return, I will return!

I was told to try them out by a few people. They have a seating bar section and regular sitting. The lights are very dimmed, dark room. We did wait quite some time to get our order taken. We ordered the butter chicken, samosas, balsamic rice, and garlic naan. We were brought waters and I asked for a drink menu. We enjoyed our food and were content with the portions. The butter chicken was good not as strong flavor as others I've tried, which is good to me. We want to come back and try more dishes.

First off the place is beautiful. We walked in and it was pretty empty . Just a couple tables taken. Took a few minutes for them to clear a table for us. I was excited to try their food because of all the great reviews. We ordered a few items to share. I really wanted to love this place but the food was mediocre and not seasoned enough. We ordered medium spice but it wasn't hot at all. I'm only giving 3 stars because there is always room for a better experience.

The inside is beautifully decorated. They have turquoise seats with gold embroidered designs. A nice bar area and the place is very big inside. The service was a little slow but the food made up for it. We got garlic naan, samosas, and the shrimp tikka tandoori. The naan was perfectly cooked. The samosas were nice and crispy on the outside while the potatoes were still soft. My shrimp dish was light and very flavorful. The vegetables were all crisp and fresh. The shrimp was marinated well and cooked to perfection. It did have a little spice to it but the rice kind of helped with the heat. My drink I believe was called the grasshopper. It was a little sweet for me but still good. A great first time experience here and won't be my last.

A highly recommended restaurant from my peers. Just so happened a invite was extended to us by a fellow Yelp Elite so my wife and took the opportunity to see for ourselves what the hype was all about with this place. Service: Our group made a reservation for a party 8. We were promptly seated upon our arrival. Our server "Barleen" (sorry if I mispelled your name) was very accomodating and very welcoming of us as new guests. She gave us recommendations when asked. 5 of 5 stars Food/Offering: As a group, we ordered two orders or rice, butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, veggie samosas, a few other vegeterian dishes (which I didn't quite get the names), a biryani dish (forgot the meat choice), channa masala, goat and a cauliflower concoction. In addition, we ordered veggie naan. We were also provided additional naan on the house, a toasty bread topped with condenseand and sweet sugar candy. The dishes were very flavorful! The goat however was a little on the tougher side, almost jerkyish. I also tried for the first time a Taj Mahal beer (lager) which was very good. 5 of 5. Overall: A bit on the pricier side than others but I don't mind paying a little more for good food and a good experience. It was nice to dine with my fellow Yelp Elites. I swear people were just looking at us with our cell phones snapping pictures left and right =) Also, this place caters a lot to the indian community of Fresno/Clovis especially to those that work in the medical field so I guess the trust is there that this place is good. I will most definitely come back when the craving is there.

On 6/13/25 I came here with several of my Yelp peeps as a yelper we love trying new places. Upon entering it was like walking into a high class restaurant. I was greeted immediately by the host. He pointed out where my group was seated. The staff was absolutely phenomenal! We had garlic, naan and veggie samosas, which both dishes were absolutely delicious. I ended up ordering the Gulab twist it was 9/10! It was like a twist on a gin and tonic, but Indian style. I highly recommend if you like gin and tonics. We decide to order family style to try out various dishes as this was our first time dining here and definitely not my last. Staff definitely made us for welcome. The atmosphere was great. It was very lovely. The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered butter, chicken, I believe chicken masala , Saag which is a spinach dish absolutely delicious, the chickpea dish was yummy as well and the cauliflower and potato dish was my number one favorite of the night. The others ordered curry, goat, and other meat dishes, which I really didn't sample since I'm a vegetarian, but I did taste a little bit of the broth and it was delicious. The staff let us try various dessert items which the hospitality was absolutely amazing . I cannot wait to come back to Gulab Indian bistro. It will definitely be on my rotation to dine out. Overall, it was a lot of fun to sample various dishes, meet the staff and share a loving meal with my Yelp peeps . Thank you, Gulab. Indian bistro for the lovely night. Cannot wait to come back!

Amazing food and customer service definitely recommend . The butter chicken you just can't go wrong literally packed with flavor and there garlic fireeee .

Definitely recommend this place! This place feels higher end with affordable prices. Our server Jap took really good care of us. He forgot to include a drink in our order and told us it's on the house. He also gave us a dessert on the house. The food portions looked small but it was a good amount. The ambiance is amazing with excellent music. It' gives cool bar vibes. First bite of garlic naan bread with tamarind sauce made me love this place immediately. Garlic naan bread: 5/5 Baingan bharta (eggplant): 4/5 Palak paneer: 4/5 Butter chicken: 4/5 Veggie samosa: 5/5 Rice: 5/5

Title: Disappointing Experience at Gulab Indian Bistro -- Never Again I rarely write negative reviews, but my experience at Gulab Indian Bistro was unbelievably frustrating from start to finish. The service was painfully slow -- we waited nearly an hour before our food even arrived. When it finally did, they brought me the wrong dish. I had clearly ordered Goat Vindaloo, which the waitress even confirmed when taking our order. Instead, she brought out Chicken Vindaloo, then tried to argue with me about it. I don't mind mistakes, but arguing with the customer after confirming the order is just unacceptable. No apology, no offer to fix it, just attitude. At that point, the meal was already a loss. The rest of the table's food was cold, and we were too tired to send anything back after waiting so long. For a restaurant that markets itself as a bistro, the service and professionalism were far below standard. I've eaten at plenty of Indian restaurants around California -- this was by far the most disappointing. Save yourself the headache -- there are much better spots that respect both your time and your business.

This was a great experience. Good and service were amazing. This get together was arranged by Kevin our fellow Yelp Elite. This place is fancy and very intimate. Their decoration inside looks very pretty. If kevin didn't included me on this get together I would've never come and tried this place. I was very happy with everything. We ordered some dishes to share. They were some that i don't remember the name but the ones I tried I did remember. Some of them order drinks and I just got Water. It tasted purified. That I did enjoyed. So there was some appetizers. Some Naan and some veggie Samosas. Then the other others star coming in. The Saag was good the rice yummy and the Chana Masala was very tasty. They said that the butter chicken was very good. Also they brought us some more Naan on the house. At the end of our dinner they offered a type of dessert. They said it was on the greasy side. Also it was some Alo Gobi it was very delicious. I have tried it on another places and it was on the greasy side. This one was perfect. So delicious. The waiter was very helpful and very generous. I needed my water refill but they didn't asked and we were so busy talking every time they came I forgot to ask. Also I forgot I could use the button they gave us to call the auger if we need anything. Overall I loved the visit and the company. I for sure will be coming back. Thank you for the free items.

Friday evening a few fellow Yelper Friends and I had dinner here. First time here and honestly never heard of them. My Yelp Elite Friend Andrew K. set this gathering up and made reservations the morning of party of 8 adults and 2 kids. We all voted between two places and majority of us wanted to give this place a try. At the entrance this place didn't seem much but upon entry not only were we greeted by the lovely staff I thought this place stunningly beautiful and quite elegant. Menus were provided and later our server Barleen greeted us with water all around. I brought my 2 littles and she was considerate enough to put them in to-go cup containers so it wouldn't spill without having to request. As Yelpers of course we were all open to trying everything and anything on the menu. We decided to do family style. We each ordered a dish or 2 for everyone to try. For apps we ordered veggie samosas and garlic naan. The samosas were delicious it had a tad spicy kick to it my favorite is the green sauce, pairs perfectly with the samosas. The garlic naan was toasty wish there was more garlic flavor to it but it was good. A few of the main courses that we ordered were: butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, saag, aloo gobi, lamb biryani, channa masala and goat curry. Everything came out hot and beautifully presented they give you spice level options. It was nice to venture out and try different dishes other than my usual butter chicken order, which was delicious by the way. The goat curry had a good flavor but the goat meat it self was a bit too tough to my liking. The lamb biryani was mostly all rice didn't get to try the lamb. Some Indian food restaurants that I've tried their dishes would be greasy, this place was not. My favorite would have to be the aloo gobi. I've never had it before and cauliflower is meh, I'll eat it but not my go to, it's amazing how they can elevate it. My Yelp friends mentioned how the cocktails here were delicious I didn't try any but my husband ordered a drink and was raving about how amazing it was. They gave us complimentary naan and dessert also what they call refreshers. Which was so kind of them They provide a call button on the table where you can push it if you need your server to come. I thought that was great, convenient and I feel it prevents your server from either coming too often or not enough to check on you. We pushed it and our server came. Overall it was a great experience. We were all stuffed with some leftovers. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful. It was so much fun getting together with Yelp Friends doing what we love to do. Would recommend and would love to return again soon.

Better than Amritsar!…read more Coming from Los Angeles, we weren't sure where to pick given the many Desi options, but this restaurant was an incredible find. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome by Sandeep Kaur. It was inspiring to see an all-female team running the show with such dedication. The food was beyond authentic. We ordered the Amritsari Kulcha, Tadka Dal, and rice, and every bite was remarkably fresh. The Kulcha was the star of the show--presented sizzler-style under hot tava with fumes still rising. Honestly, it tasted even better than the kulchas we had in Amritsar last year! The Tadka Dal and yellow rice were the perfect, delicious compliments to the meal. We desperately need a North Indian spot of this caliber in SoCal. We're already wishing they'd open a branch in the LA area. Thank you Sandeep kaur for your hospitality and the service.

I prefer the regular samosa over samosa chaat. I was missing the crispiness of it. Hakka noodles ended up being too spicy to our niece so we ordered a second one with just the tomato base which was still delicious. Since there was only one server for all the tables and pick ups, it took awhile to get our food. We had plain Roti (1 per order), Butter Naan (4 per order), Shahi Paneer, and Paneer Tikki Masala. Again both of the dishes were flavorful and creamy and had a kick of spiciness. Unlike other Indian places I've been to they do not ask you what level of spice you would like. Roti and rice were nice but I would not order the Butter Naan again. You cannot taste the butter even though it was glossy. Their food were delicious! Hopefully they get more severs for days where it's busy.

The butter chicken was great, rice and garlic naan was perfect. The juices surprisingly appeared to taste freshly squeezed and delicious, if that may be the actual case. --While eating, we noticed one of the chicken lollipops was not cooked all the way through and was still raw in the middle. We checked another chicken lollipop and noticed it was also raw in the middle. We notified the waitress and they were able to replace the order with a new one. -- Overall, the food was great. 4 My experience with the service, however, was perhaps a 3, not as good as expected due to minor language barrier while ordering, trying to resolve the semi-raw chicken issue, and when asking for a to-go container for my unfinished butter chicken. We were goven a small 8oz container upon request for a to-go container that did not fit the leftover butter chicken... due to the miscommunication. There was another miscommunication during the experience where the receipt given to us looked like a kitchen/prep ticket, which did not show the total paid amount per items ordered. We asked the waitress/server again for a copy of my receipt that showed the total paid. They did not understand and insisted it was the receipt. It wasn't until the owner came and walked the waitress through printing out my receipt for us. Overall we give it a 3.5. We tipped 15%, as the food was fresh and enjoyable and delicious despite the chicken situation, and the service was okay. The table preparation, the waitress and the owners fine attempt to work things out via communication, to us, shows the restaurant is a fairly quality spot... but the overall experience did not meet our minimal desired experience, so we may not be as firm on returning.
