Bought a guitar and corresponding hardcase online after confirming via the Selden, NY GC st staff. I received an email that my items were shipped. Later (convenientLt at closing time) I received an email that my order is cancelled. Store response was that the guitar was sold in store the following day even though I had purchased and been confirmed it was on the way. Complete incompetence. The store is rough, huge lack of inventory and staff generally don't have sufficient knowledge to provide any meaningful assistance. Condition of instruments is worse than poor. I tried to pick up a good electric guitar and a good acoustic guitar multiple times and every single one off the wall needs a serious set up. Sales manager says it's not the tech's responsibility Luca meanwhile, I worked for the organization at 814 for five years as a tech and as a sales associate, and it absolutely was our responsibility. Purchased a very expensive guitar and was advised by counterperson that it would be worth my while to purchase the insurance on it for $300 which I did . Only problem is when I tried to go on the website because I was having a problem with the guitar the website was not working. I called up Guitar center and their answer was "we don't know what to tell you, " But you know what ? you shouldn't have recommended an insurance policy if you don't even know if the website is accessible. I am now stuck with a Guitar that I don't want and an insurance policy that's worthless .Guitar center has agreed to buy back the guitar for $300 but considering it was a $1300 guitar that offer really doesn't benefit anyone but them. read more

Went to GC yesterday hoping to try out a few higher end guitars that I have been considering. There was one customer checking out, another who sat down at a keyboard and began playing. I walked over to the wall of guitars and looked up at the top row where the guitars I was interested in were hanging. No one bothered to approach me to ask if I needed assistance or how they could help. I strolled over to the used gear display, then the guitar straps. Two employees were within a few feet from me but again, I wasn't given the time of day. Frustrated and disgusted I walked back to the wall of guitars, paused for a few moments and walked out. All in all I counted 4 - 5 employees on the floor. Looks like I will be ordering my new guitar from Sweetwater! read more

The young man with the longer hair, I believe his name was christian was helpful and answered all of my questions (I knew nothing about guitars). Do NOt COME HERE. Terrible place. Once I inquired about the return policy and the salesperson immediately said ," Oh, you're not going to return this tomorrow after you use it for your gig, buddy ?" Completely unprofessional , considering I have spent thousands at that Guitar Center. The sales people are complete neophytes, cannot play any musical instrument to any degree ( so how can they sell one ? ), and need lessons in simple manners.This is the problem with these huge franchises.. no one really cares about sales, and how they treat their customers. .I asked for an immediate apolgy, and none was forthcoming.There are so many better guitar stores to go spend your $$, avoid this one, and GC overall. read more

Really want to give this a 3.5 so please keep that in mind. My main Guitar Center for the first 25 years of my life is in Westbury Carle Place (and even at the location before they moved there). In comparison this location is very small but seems to be set up and organized to the best of the building lease can allow for. Staff here I haven't had any issues with nor have I really needed them. They encourage playing and trying things out but will get out of your way if that's what you want. They recently increased the hours on Saturday by an hour which is something I've wanted for about the last decade (thank you!). Here are my two serious dings that could so greatly improve this place. There are a lot of empty guitar racks on the wall. Maybe a sign of "great sales"; maybe a sign of mismanaging inventory... Here comes the compound effect though. What makes this even worse is the stock that is on the walls- I feel like it would be accurate to say about 35% are "scratch and dent" or guitars that are literally damaged (not marked as scratch and dent). Now I know this is out of GC's control to a degree but it's kind of embarrassing. Some of these guitars look like they were dropped down a full story of stairs or were hugged by a cheese grater and all for a measly 10% discount. I really want to root for GC and big box brick and mortars but they also seem to need some improvements to stay sustainable. read more

This place is ok. Products are good, and my son did find what he wanted when purchasing a new guitar, but dealing with the staff is the issue. There has been only one Person behind the counter ( if even there ) and it just takes so long to set up a repair ( 2 day wait for a replacement string ) . My roommate and I after work drove from the Hampton's with the full intentions of buying a nice guitar. We arrived at 7:50PM, and instead of being greeted, a employee by the name of rob walked by carrying boxes, and said "they don't like us being here late". We proceeded to go the back into the guitar room to try some guitars out. We didn't receive any help "rob" was preoccupied playing a bass at the check out counter. so we carefully pulled down a guitar from the top shelf and played it for a while. When we were putting it back up rob came in and said "get down immediately" I will take care of that. It was abrupt and completely unprofessional, perhaps if somebody would of come in to ask what we were looking for we wouldn't have been in that situation. It left a terrible impression so we left, we would have spent at least 1500 dollars on a Taylor or a Martin. I called shortly after to just talk to him and let him know that he rubbed us the wrong way with his choice of words and actions. That was met with combative arguing and more unprofessionalism, I bought a Martin D series last year from this location last year and I love it. I'm sorry to say I will not be coming back to this store and I won't recommend it to others in the future because of this experience. read more

This particular review is directed at a specific Guitar Center location and it's manager " KIMBERLY " at the Selden New York Guitar Center. She is by far the worst, most insulting and lazy person I've ever dealt with and she has no beliefs in " The customer is always right ". tradition, if she is inconvenienced in the slightest, then god help that customer, because then they get a ton of attitude from her . I have literally been going there since the store open and I've spent thousands of dollars between guitars, amps and pedals, over the years, yes I've returned some with bad quality control issues and damage, but all in all some good products. She doesn't want to adhere to the store return policy if a customer wants to exchange or return something more than once because of aesthetic flaws or damage, even if that something is over $3000.00, she still doesn't understand that for that price it should arrive aesthetically flawless. Well they lost my business and I wouldn't recommend anyone go to that location until she is no longer manager there. I even thought after sharing some pleasantries with her over the years that I was a bit closer to her so I started calling her Kimmy, then she screamed at me "MY NAME IS KIMBERLY NOT KIMMY, OK GOT IT, GOOD", and I was in the process of doing an exchange she didn't want because my first guitar arrived damaged.....she's just an unreasonable grumpy bitch, and if she's not going to treat customers right then she should work elsewhere, but that guitar center has lost my business, because I refuse to deal with her anymore. read more

I was looking for an acoustic electric to busk with, something under $200. Every guitar I tried had 1/4 " action. Every one. Even the guitars that were $1000.00 plus were not set up. I find a neglected, banged up. Well played mitchell hanging in the window. $349.00. It played well, sounded great, asked for a discount for 4th of July sale and for it not being new. It was offered for $199.00. Bought it. Did not receive a book on the pick up which was pulled away from the body. Did not recieve the USB cord that's suppose to come with the guitar. Went home happy until I saw an add for Guitar Center, same guitar used $179.00. I am so disappointed. I was told they would "take care" of me. Yeh!! I was "taken" alright. Manager refused to refund me the difference. Told me to return the guitar. read more

My Nephew is a guitar enthusiasts so I took full advantage of stopping here after I finished helping my brother with his car. My Nephew was excited to go to this location and to tell you the truth so was I. It recently opened about two months ago I found out later, but you could tell anyway because stuff was still in boxes and ladders were around. This place is beautiful, I mean if you love to make music this place is the place for you. It's so clean and had plenty of floor space to look around and all the instruments. I like to pretend that I'm the lead singer of my own 80's rock band so I strung a few notes on the electric guitar, before I was threatened to stop for noise pollution. Moving on. There were 6 employees in the place and they were really nice! Walking in they asked "Can I help you?" It was nice to feel noticed like that. They answered all my Nephews questions. I also like the single bathrooms for privacy. I really don't own any musical instruments, but after visiting this gem, I feel like I should start a band, I mean I have so much music to offer the world. read more

Today I was kicked out of Guitar Center (@ carl place , Ny ) by a white male (Dave) who followed me to every corner of the store Harassing me about my mask which was percent on my face and told me to leave the store because my mask fell below my nose ... I was the only brown person in the store and was completely shocked by this employees behavior. This is nothing compared to the real horrors that continue to plague black and Hispanic people but Iittle things will usually turn into big things and he needs to held responsible. Here's my honest review positives and negatives I've been trying to look into Taylor Tyler and Paige help me a lot a lot and I didn't buy anything but I was interested in saving for my dream guitar despite them being sales people I feel like their advise was genuine they would say buy the most expensive thing you can buy but sometimes would say cheaper options which I appreciate because at Sam Ash Huntington they kicked me out because I was trying a guitar for a couple days because I never owned a expensive guitar Tyler stayed with me and showed me cool things on the scale and played the guitar as a drum instead of leaving like all the other employees to the main room where their was no one so all the employees would have their own individual conversation with one other every time I was there and peaked outside that's what I saw employees do maybe some think their lazy which is what I though walking in but every time I needed a guitar they got after sounding awful on the same Tyler played guitar I realized it was better that I thought since when he pls it seemed like a new instrument and pushed me to get better I wish more employees did that regarding page she was also friendly we'd always have these short conversations I found out she play many instruments and like Tyler 10+ of experience this place is 30 miles alway I have stores near me with the same Guitar but the people at Sam ash Huntington hustle I'd rather drive a extra hour hear I can't speak on much of the other employees I know Julia helped me and kept checking on my and a employee I called on told him I'd be there in 20 mins he put the guitar to the side for I didn't even ask I recommend this play over the Commack gc they are nice but they don't give off the friendly vibes these folks gives also help out Tyler and Paige if you buy something here make sure it's from them because they deserve the extra cash/ promotion read more

While this is one of the smaller Guitar Center locations, the store is very well organized and has a great selection. The staff is very helpful and you can tell they enjoy their jobs. For those who are unfamiliar with Guitar Center, they don't just sell guitars. They have a great selection of Acoustic, Electric, And bass guitars, keyboards, Drums, Dj Equipment, and miscellaneous other music based gadgets and such. They also have a good selection of used equipment (of course this varies depending on what they have at the time). I think a very important thing to note is that the staff will help you figure out what you want, and let you know anything you need to know, but they will not try to convince you to purchase something you don't want, or try and talk you into a more expensive item. read more

We're new to the world of guitars, but my 15-year old wanted to put the guitar he got for Christmas two years ago to good use (finally) so we drove down to the Guitar Center and were greeted by Amanda at the front desk who was friendly, professional and very helpful. We needed to purchase a guitar string and having no knowledge of replacing a string, Joe, was kind enough to not only replace the string for us, but tuned my sons guitar. In a world of businesses that show that customer service is not a priority, it was such a pleasure to be treated with respect and shown that we mattered.
