When I went here it was amazing. I am one of the biggest guitar fan. when I first walked in and when I was going to leave I felt like I couldn't without a guitar and the workers were sooo nice. If you were able to rate stuff or places 10 stars I'd pick 10 stars. Then I went her again and instead without leaving with nothing I left all the best guitar was so good It was amazing. It sounded nice. It wasn't in tune, but that's fine and and I also have an amp that's called Spark 2 amp. and a lot of times I like playing my guitar loudly and he told me the padding inside if you play it very loud and it start beating the amp. I was like that's good that he told me because I would've started playing a lot of music on it and guitar. read more

After narrowing my search to two instruments, I checked to see that both were in stock before driving an hour to compare. Despite both being on the floor with signs of both having been played extensively, there was no power supply for one of them. The sales associate tried two incorrect power supplies, then just disappeared without telling me he had given up. Neither he nor the other guy at the counter had anything to say when I mentioned that I had traveled an hour with an intent to buy. I'm never coming back here for anything. read more

Today I was greeted at the door by two employees. Both were super helpful. I didn't catch his name but one young man evaluated my guitar and recommended other places to possibly sell to as their acoustic inventory was full. And Ethan offered a very fair offer for a DJ system we no longer used. The whole process could not have gone smoother! Going to this guitar store is the worst thing I could ever do from I walk in I know am not welcome I went there to pick up an DJ 1000 controller case the customer service was the worst I gave the guy my ID in is hand when he is finished he throw the ID on the counter to give it back to me then he said am done here bye and walk away I ask the other worker what is name he hear and shouted Jeremy Cricket and give me is middle finger I guess I was treated that way because of my color this guy is so racist I will never go back there or introduce no one to guitar center, I feel so humiliated. read more

I ordered my bass online and had it delivered to this store. Picking it up was really simple, they hardly said anything to me just handed me the package and I was on my way. I took it home and opened it up and immediately it is buzzing a little bit and is pretty unpleasant. But I was playing with headphones and have been intimidated by snobby employees at other Guitar Centers before so for some reason I decided not to say anything. Now fast forward 6 months and I'm trying to hook my bass up to play Rocksmith on Xbox. The buzzing will not allow the game to understand the notes. So now it's a problem and I have to get it fixed. I go to this location and the guys at the front desk are laughing about how my bass came that way from the store and how they hear that all the time. I take it to the repair desk and he asks if anyone offered to set up my bass for me when I first got it because every new guitar can get a free set up. They hadn't. And now I had to pay $50 to get the set up. And the guy told me it would be fixed that day so I stayed in the area for 2 hours and then when I went back he said he got an emergency repair to do before mine and mine wouldn't be done that day. And then as I was pulling into my driveway he called to say it was done two minutes before they were closing so I couldn't pick it up anyway. I don't live in New Jersey. I bought a used guitar from this location through guitar center dot com. The listing said it came with a case, but instead they shipped it in a ratty old used gig bag. The only thing that made the guitar worth as much as they were asking was that it came with said case. A case is a hard shell padded box with metal clasps. A gig bag is made of cloth and only has mild padding, and closes with a zipper. The guitar should have been priced lower if it didn't have the case, which is an $80-$130 difference. I have now begun making the manager's life a living hell until they make it right. Beware doing business with this store. You will literally not get what you paid for. Nice guitar, but it's amazing that it didn't arrive with a broken headstock. read more

This is no oversight or shipping damage - the guitar was bashed in, coming apart, and glued badly. I tried to contact them online about it, and got no response. Spent $500 on a new Gretsch dobro in february brought it in because of a horrible vibration and ringing. Charged me $35 to change my strings and didn't even ask what kind of strings I use or replace with the same strings. Nonetheless had to go buy the correct strings and do it myself! AVOID!!! Somerville circle 401 NJ-28, Raritan, NJ 08869 Purchased Yamaha 660 Piano which I'd owned before (gave it to friend) and thought volume calibration was not the same. Drew, Fabian and staff did everything to make sure I was satisfied, returned it. They said they would bring another into store for me to try again, or any other piano. Then I purchased p115 which had better piano sounds and I'd hoped I could retro fit to 660 stand and pedal unit. Not. All stands are based on size and speaker location of exact piano. When I called to say I wanted to go back to 660 (pita:(), they were amazing and said of course. I've been dealing with NJ music stores since I was a teenager (old timer now). This Raritan NJ Guitar Center is the most professional, amazingly accommodating, knowledgeable, with kind management and staff, I have ever done business with. Thank you Drew, Fabian and staff. Me and my father came in looking for a mixer as a Christmas present. None of the employees would make eye contact or offer to help us at all. We went to the managers office and they said we'd have to wait for the person who works in that department to get something off the shelf. That person is a new employee and is taking upwards of 20 minutes to ring up a customer. There are 6 other employees standing around talking. Terrible customer service and I can't believe they'd put all the work on one employee. Ridiculous. read more

My son needed a sound system for his frat. Everyone in the store was very helpful and knowledgeable in helping him decide what to get. We did have a couple issues getting the exact products we wanted being that is was right before Christmas, but they bent over backwards to make sure we got what we were looking for and in the end, that we had all the cables, adapters and parts we needed. read more
