I haven't been to this guitar center in almost 18-years, not because I don't like them but because they are about an hour away from me now. I used to live in this neck of the woods and would visit this store frequently. Since we were in the area, I wanted to stop back in for old-times sake. The store was orderly and clean, and they have a great variety of instruments to choose from. I was actually looking for an Ovation acoustic guitar and they had one; unfortunately, it was a 12-string. The staff member that was working there pointed me in the right direction to find one though, which was great; thank you for that! I am interested in upgrading to a newer keyboard and noticed they have several Yamaha, Korg, Nord, Roland, Moog, and Casio options on display, most notably were the Yamaha Montage M8 & M6, and a used Korg Juno. I would have really been interested in testing out the Korg Grand Stage X or a Korg Kronos 88. They have a great enclosed room for some of the higher-end electric guitars ($2,000+) and separate room for the acoustic guitars. This is a great way to sample different guitars and really take in the sound to see if it's the right choice for you. I noticed that most of the new or higher end guitars are all locked to the wall hangers, so you need to ask for assistance if you want to try something out. Most of the lower end models and used guitars are not locked but also not setup or tuned. I sampled three Hollow body Gretsch guitars that I thought looked great, and they were out of tune and the action was wacky. Not the end of the world but I play all the time and when I'm trying something out and it's not setup properly I hang it back up and move on. I'm not going to spend $600+ on something that I have to spend time setting up or pay someone to setup. I also noticed they were selling an EVH Wolfgang Special for $1,200 but it was missing its chrome nut locks, Yikes! A new set will cost you about $20. I ended up purchasing a D'Addario Reflex Capo for $22. I've never had one of these and always wanted to learn a song or two using a capo. This one is durable, adjustable, can be used on electric or acoustic guitars, and has two built-in pick holders which is great. All-in-all, it was a great visit and I would definitely shop here again. If you are a newbie to buying a guitar, I would recommend bringing someone with you that has more experience to ensure you get a guitar that is setup and is worth your hard-earned money before you go all-in. read more

The only thing I was disappointed is it didn't have any stickers or patches It had a few posters but the one by my house has some really cool stickers. Many many guitars!! Plus a lot more... During my visit on a mid weekday, I found this location to be quite busy. I had brought in one of my guitars to see they would give me for a sell offer but due to the line at the sales counter, I took the next 30 minutes to peruse and play the inventory. I was able to get some help, the sales person gave me an offer and also helped me look at a fancy Gibson SJ 200 but not today! They also vary percussions, pianos live equipment and have a lessons area. Cool place, be back again when I'm ready for a new acoustic guitar. read more

We enrolled our granddaughter, who has a learning disability, in lessons at [Name of Guitar Center / Location]. Before starting, we explained her needs and even invested in an electronic drum set to support her learning. Unfortunately, the instructor did not adapt their teaching, show empathy, or demonstrate concern for her progress. Despite her lack of progress, no one from the store ever contacted us to discuss adjustments or alternatives. If the instructor felt unable to teach her effectively, we should have been notified. Instead, lessons simply continued with no benefit to the student. When we stopped sending her, payments continued to be withdrawn from our account for months. At no point did anyone reach out about her absence. When I requested a refund, I was told none would be given since "notice" was not received. When I mentioned contacting corporate, I was told it would "make no difference." This experience makes it clear the priority was collecting payments, not supporting the student. Families -- especially those with special-needs children -- should proceed with caution before committing to lessons here. read more

I went in to get a new amp and restring my guitar and got help from Buddy. He was super nice and helped me find better more appropriate strings as I am a beginner and fixed the nut which had fallen off in my own attempt at restringing it. I explained the issue I was having, and from the very start, Dio went above and beyond to carefully diagnose the problem and immediately begin working on a solution. His knowledge, professionalism, and attention to detail were impressive, but what really stood out was his attitude -- friendly, patient, and genuinely committed to helping. His work ethic was beyond 5-star, and it showed in the care he put into my instrument. As guitar problems come up (and they always do), I'll absolutely be coming back to see Dio. Save your time and shop elsewhere. I have no idea how this place stays open. Everytime I visit, employees are nowhere to be found. Nobody to help you find something, no experts to give their advice, nobody to even checkout your purchase or take your money. Today's visit, I just wanted to try some new drumsticks. They are all located behind a counter with a chain up that says "employees only". I choose sticks by pulling them off the shelf and trying them out to see what feels right, can't do that here!!!! Even if I knew what I wanted, I can't find anybody to get them for me!!!! This shop has a large selection of Jackson's, Ibanez, LTD, and a good amount of the big name guitar makers. There's a room of vintage electric guitars, all very nice, and the usual used gear. As far as acoustic guitars, there is a big selection but I saw a lot of guitars in bad shape here. There's also a Taylor room. Finally, lots of amps and other equipment, which make this shop a larger than usual shop. A nice place to visit. read more

BE AWARE... first off I'll say the staff was helpful and generally friendly, as a bandmate and I bought two guitars. However, it was the practices at purchase and the poor advice given to another young boy buying his first guitar that has me taking my business to Sweetwater. I found a guitar I really liked and decided to buy. Guitar was priced at just over $1100 but at the counter the salesman told it would be north of $1500 for my total. When I paused and asked why, he said "Oh Im sorry I forgot to ask, would you like the additional insurance?" I gave it the benefit of the doubt in the moment but I started watching a little closer. After declining the insurance the price came down but we're still about $40-$50 more than I had calculated with taxes. I looked at the screen and there was a charge for something else underneath it. When I asked about it, it was a soft shell case built into the price at previously mentioned $1100 but somehow was contributing to an extra $40. I, again, balked at this new, unadvertised price and the salesman took it off, bringing the total amount owed to exactly what it should be with Florida sales tax. By the way, I did get the soft shell case but it was clearly used and dirty. Two hours later... My bandmate decides on a guitar to buy. We go to the counter, and the exact same situation happened. Right out the gate the price is a good 20% higher than what the sticker price says and asked about it he immediately gave the same line "I'm sorry I forgot to ask, would you like the additional insurance?" I do not know if this is Standard company procedure or just one man, but I will not be around in the future to find out. As for the advice given to the young boy, I overheard the young man ask the salesman if he could have The Guitar "set up for a beginner" and put on .10 gauge strings. The salesman then seemed to discourage him from doing so, saying "it's already setup" even though every guitar player in the world knows it will make it easier on a new student so it doesn't hurt their fingers as much. I did step in and explained this to the salesman who admitted they were likely the heavier strings and told the the young boy and his mother "I mean you could but our luthier is gone for the day and it's gonna cost you over $100." I don't know what the angle was in saying that but it sure doesnt give that kid an easier path to learning to play. read more

WOMAN IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY BEWARE. EMPLOYEE WORKING AT FRONT DESK WAS EXTREMELY CONDESCENDING, DISRESPECTFUL, RUDE, & MISOGYNISTIC. Would give this location 0 stars if I could. I am pretty sure his name was Gadget. I cannot believe the disrespect I just experienced. I am a professional woman & artist in the music industry that tours across the entire country, writes for large artists, and has released on major labels. I have millions of streams on my music. I am also a GC pro customer because of this. Clearly the employee does not know that, but knowing that shouldn't change how I am respected when I ask simple questions. I am a very kind person and was excited to come into GC. I could even begin asking my question, he met with me with a f*** off attitude and raised his eyebrows at me & said "...can I help you..???" as if I was a burden to him & he was over dealing with me before our interaction even began. As I began to ask my questions, he met me with condescension and talked down to me like I knew nothing about mics when I do as if I was stupid. At one point I had to even correct him because what he was telling me was illogical. He tried to convince me that I needed to pay for a TWO THOUSAND DOLLAR shock mount for a $250 mic. Then when I asked about completely different products that I also had come to purchase that also were mic related he looked at me rudely and said "That's not how it WORKS." & at this point I had enough and began to respectfully stand my ground. Once he knew I knew what I was talking about he directed me to the item. I am so upset at how I was treated that even though I had items I came to purchase, I walked out of the store empty handed because I felt so uncomfortable interacting with him agin. I can't morally give my money to him after being treated so terribly. I have no idea why I was treated this way. As an avid GC customer, I am so disappointed and saddened to be treated so terribly and to be treated with such blatant sexism. It is troublesome to me that GC has chosen someone like this to represent their company as their main front cashier for people to connect to. I will not be using this location ever again, & I can't confidently say I will be using GC for future industry purchases after this terrible experience. Of course, this is a big box chain guitar shop....so., you'll have to take that for what it is....but, lately these guitar shops have been getting pretty sparse on inventory, this one however still has a nice selection of inventory that is far and away better stocked than the other competitors in town. This particular visit I was in the area and just stopped by to browse; their guitar wall was full, plenty of amps, and a ton of pedals.....so long as you are looking for common equipment that is somewhat on the trend (which is isn't case with all of these big box shops): in any case - worth a visit if you want to check out some new gear. read more

Do not listen to the advice of the store employees they speak as though they have a lot of knowledge and in a matter of fact tone to me when they do not have any real experience or knowledge. This is a warning. To be a good member of the community I called them to inform them of an issue with the EV ZLX15BT. Bluetooth speaker. I explained to the sales man that the speakers Bluetooth was an older protocol and is very sensitive you can not be more than 20' away or have anything or person in between it. This guitar center definitely needs a management change or swift kick in the ass! Service is horrible regardless of whether you are in person or on the phone. for instance there was one person working the counter and it took roughly 40 minutes to get a question answered and there were 4 of us waiting for service. I called this store 4 times in one 90 min period and 2 times they answered and quickly hung up right away(yes, i could hear you briefly so it wasn't system related - more like training to stop the pesky phone from ringing) and the other times they put me on hold for 25 mins after transferring me to another dept. so i finally bailed. Horrible horrible horrible. I am a long time GC customer and have been in many GC's across the US. The WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Run away from this place! I decided to do vocal lessons , the agent told me it will be a promotion instead paying $210, will be $78 for the first month. I spoke with a manager and he said they don't refund the money back and he said was a missed understanding of the agent who doesn't knew to explain. So I ended up paying for that. I went to the store because I wanted to pick up a cheap $10 part for my stereo. I should have been able to run in and out. There was only one person on the floor (ie no one at the registers) and so many customers waiting for help. One customer waited patiently and I decided to wait after him. Other people kept interrupting "to ask quick questions" without any concern for those of us who waited. The employee was frustrated and kept answering their queations... BUT it was UNACCEPTABLE to have us continue waiting. Simply say, "I will be glad to help you as soon as I get through these other customers. The guy that fixes the guitars, Buddy, is very honest guy! I thought my guitar needed a total adjustment after checking it in on luggage compartment on the airplane from my trip from to Brazil to Orlando, because the strings were touching the frets, but he just used one tool to adjust the arm and my guitar was perfect again and he didn't charge me anything! Saving me $50 bucks. I give him 5 stars () When I returned again to buy around $1000 worth of equipment they didn't give me any discount. Which the competitor would've give me at least 10% discount (Believe me, I asked!). Hubs and I found the item we were looking for and all he wants is a price check and to purchase some items. Drove forty minutes to this store to trade in a drum set because the Winter Park branch near me didn't have any room on the floor for a trade in. After getting a trade in value at the WP branch I was surprised to find a different value at this branch. However, the fantastic staff at this location accommodated me and helped me get the value I wanted. Dean, Natasha, and I believe Ryan- the customer service manager- were all extremely helpful and nice. They worked hard to help me with my trade in issue and I could tell they were not going to let me walk away without being happy. Their excellent service was definitely worth the forty minute drive. I walked out of the store with my old drum set traded in and a brand new set in the box. The staff was more than happy to help me load my drums into my car. On the other hand this was a nice guitar center. The store seemed considerably larger than the winter park branch and it is definitely roomier in some areas. The drum section is smaller than most guitar centers I've been to but they have a good selection of drums and as mentioned, their staff was fantastic. Overall a great experience at this store. Honestly, I have been to this store several times, and the staff always seemed to be bothered to answer questions about their products. Today wasn't any different. I was wondering about an interface for vocal recordings, nothing too professional since all I want to do is voice overs and some recordings for myself. So I asked Marcus (store supervisor) and he immediately picked up some products that summed nearly $500 dollars. I know this stuff is not cheap but what he failed to do was present options. Then he handed me over to a different employee who just about ready to ring me up. I told him that I was just inquiring about products and options, he immediately seemed bothered by it. Flustered and sweaty from, I guess, working too much, he walked away and started helping someone else. Obviously they were too busy to answer questions and help me make an educated choice.
