I have been going to this Guitar Center for a few years and honestly the service is hit and miss. The most recent time I stopped in, I was trading in a pair of monitors. They were clearly understaffed and it took a good amount of time to get helped. The staff wasn't great if I'm being honest. Very quick to get me out the door. Nothing that they did that stood out as horrible or bad, just really lacking the personal customer experience that you would want. If I were somebody coming in, really not sure of what they wanted, I don't feel like they would've helped me understand what I was looking for or make the best decision for me. read more

I placed an order for two Gibraltar 9000 Cymbal stands, a gift for my son. I called and spoke with a manager at that store to confirm the order, and that the two stands would be shipped together. Upon receiving the package, I found it did NOT contain what I had paid for, but instead an old generic cymbal stand in poor condition, and a low end Gibraltar stand. It's clear this was not an accident, and that some internal theft has occurred, as we received generic hardware. The store manager will not address the issue, leaving me to contact their corporate office. They sold me a 9000 series stand, sent a 5000 series, and wont provide any discount for their mistake/internal theft problems. Awful store, awful management, avoid this location for sure. Too bad since this is such a great market, but its just not worth the risk, especially given the sketchy staff. read more

I was there Saturday for guitar lessons. After trying to ask multiple employees for help for about 10 minutes I was finally point in the right direction. After waiting 15 minutes in the lessons room I was informed the person teaching was no longer with the company. I was given two options: come back at 1pm when the other teacher would be in or change the date. I decided to come back at 1. After coming back and waiting another 30 minutes in the lessons area I decided to call it a wash and go look at equipment. While looking at the guitars I was asked multiple times if I needed help which was odd because while I was waiting for the guitar lessons employees walked passed me and didn't ask to help me. There was even an employee that came into the lessons area checked the computer made eye contact twice and didn't ask to help me. I won't be back, I wanted to learn guitar but this experience put a sour taste in my mouth. I would recommend Guitar Center for buying equipment but not for classes. read more

He went above and beyond, would gladly return to him with my business. His sales associate Jake is also wonderful to work with and chat music with when I'm in the store. This is a great place to get your music fix. There is a large selection of new and gently uses guitars. With all our Christmas shopping done, we decided to stop by to pick up some guitar strings. I enjoyed listening to everyone testing out the instruments. My husband walked in and said, "I'm home!" He played several guitars and keyboards. read more

I've been buying guitars at guitar center since 2006 and the Nashville GC on Thompson Ln. is unlike any other. They have the BEST customer service. Barrett and Sean helped me out with an exchange of some pedals for a new Strat. It was on sale for Memorial Day weekend and I bought 2 years of gear coverage then they threw in a free hard case. Fatt Melton, thank you for your help. Not sure why it has low starts but the few times I have been here we have had good experiences. They are always busy and I don't blame them, but they staff I have interacted with have been nice and helpful. They have a lot of stuff! And I think their guitar room it's pretty awesome. You can ask the staff to let you play and test the guitar. They have drum and bass sections as well, but we go there for guitar stuff, ha! Their bathrooms are clean but I can't recall them having a changing table so come at your own risk with kids, even though I saw a few more around that day. They have a big parking lot so plenty of space. You can ship things to the store for pickup too. So if you have music needs, guitar center is what you need. They'll help you. read more

Was treated horribly by the staff, and being someone who's spent nearly $100K in my lifetime at Guitar Centers (including this one), I'm not returning to this place. The associate in the acoustic room was especially inept at handling a simple situation and led me into absolutely the most awkward and offputting experience I've ever had in a retail environment. I was meeting another musician there to negotiate a private guitar purchase and then to subsequently purchase additional accessories for the guitar from the store. I drove from Atlanta to Nashville to make this purchase, and simply wanted a safe place to meet the seller and test the guitar to be sure it worked properly. Seems pretty reasonable, right? But upon trying to simply use an acoustic amplifier for the test, the associate almost blew a gasket.  "You can't play someone else's guitar!" cried the associate. I explained why I was playing it, trying to buy it and just thought GC would foster and support a safe trading environment and welcome my additional purchases. But the associate had the nerve to call me "tacky" multiple times and said "my managers don't like that. It's tacky."  Tacky? Why is it tacky? Why call a cash carrying customer "tacky" to his face? Just because that particular instance, I wasn't buying a guitar from you? You have to get all defensive and flusterred in understanding the situation and the bigger picture? Don't you get that if you extend me some courtesy, I'll likely extend you some commerce? Maybe, if you would take a step back and see the bigger picture, where you try to help the music community rather than cling to that nonsense about "what your manager would say," and ultimately your selfish pride in your comissions, you might actually develop the social skills to become manager one day. Instead, you've just tainted that entire holier than thou Nashville store and cemented it as just another Music Walmart. I'll take my business elsewhere.  Don't shop here. Don't give this trash store your money. They don't care about anything but taking it regardless of how they mistreat you. read more

Visited with my friend to purchase some Taylor guitars. We're music professionals with nearly 25 years of experiences in guitar shops around the world. With zero employees assisting the acoustic room, we proceeded to use the step ladder that was left directly in front of the Taylor section. One employee with shoulder length blonde hair, came to inform us that the ladder was for employees only. This would have cleared up the misunderstanding, if he wouldn't have proceeded to insert comments about our trying to put him out of business. Our non-violent, non-crude response was greeted with, 'I've had a hard day, I don't need the attitude!' Without saying another word, we turned around and left the store. The entire time, this employee was following us and continuing to badger us about removing our masks on the way out. We were told that we're banned from the store, and that our return would result in a call to the police. Seems like a gross overreaction to the situation at hand. I hope this person isn't part of the management team, as he just lost the store a couple of major sales. read more

Zach was the most helpful person I've ever encountered at this guitar center. Normally I come in there and the sales reps end up making me buy the wrong thing because they tell me something is correct and I get home and it's not. I felt confident spending a significant amount of money because Zach actually knew what he was talking about and could answer my questions thoroughly. We have very minimal knowledge on these instruments, but Kurt Myers stepped in and guided us through the process. He worked diligently and thoroughly to make sure that, not only did we have everything we needed, but that we were happy with our purchases. I wasn't satisfied with an online order I made, so I went to this local guitar center to return it and pick out something different. I'm only a step above beginner, so I don't know much about guitars. Dion, who works in repairs, went out of his way to educate me and show me some great guitars for my budget. I decided on an Ibanez RGRT421, which I've now fallen in love with. Spielberg helped me return my online purchase and buy my new guitar. Both these guys were very friendly and professional. Guitar Center certainly isn't my favorite musical equipment shop in town, but I've never been disappointed by it. While they obviously cater primarily to guitar players, they have a moderate selection of drum and keyboard equipment. While the staff at Guitar Center is knowledgeable and pretty funny, they aren't quite as approachable as the folks at places like Fork's, Corner Music and Nashville Used Music. If you're looking for a new distortion pedal (or something along those lines), this might be a pretty good spot to shop for it. If you're looking to buy used or just pick up necessities (sticks, strings, et cetera), you could probably shop cheaper elsewhere. Unlike Sam Ash, I don't find the salespeople at Guitar Center blatantly obnoxious and condescending. They won't solo in your face for five minutes and tell you it's so you can "really hear how great the tone is" on a Gibson or a Telecaster. The folks at Guitar Center know what they're talking about, but you might have to seek them out before they come to you. read more
