This guitar center is often pretty understaffed and is requiring few people to do multiple jobs which lowers the quality of the buying experience. I was able to purchase a current casio keyboard for a relatively good price but my cashier was on the phone for a while tending to another sale and also checking for inventory on some other products. Overall, more likely than not, you will find what you need here, but I dont recommend it because the quality of service is slipshod. read more

This store is very well-stocked and has a great selection of instruments and equipment. Whether you're looking for guitars, basses, drums, keyboards, or DJ gear, you're likely to find what you need here. However, my experience with other guitar centers Is that the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful, with a lot of experience with the products they sell, and always willing to answer questions and offer advice. This is NOT the case here. The staff are very unresponsive and not personable and make for a very unpleasant shopping experience. I spent almost 15 min at the counter waiting to check out one book with multiple employees walking pst without acknowledging any of us in the store. One thing that does sets this Guitar Center apart from others I've been to is their lesson program. They offer private music lessons for a variety of instruments and skill levels, which can be a great way to improve your playing and meet other musicians. read more

This Guitar Center is located in a shopping center in Pleasant Hill, Duluth. They have all type of stuff for musicians including guitars, drums, speakers... literally everything. If you're starting off they also offer classes. I came to this place because all my brother wanted for his birthday was a guitar. I stepped in clearly disoriented, but I was rapidly helped. The guy who helped me was extremely helpful. He explained me all the type of guitars and which one was the best for my brother since he was just a beginner. They have all type of prices. They have very expensive stuff, or affordable options for those who are just trying to learn. Overall, this is a good place to buy music instruments. Guitar Center is in bankruptcy and now I know why. This is my experience from 2020. As a result of this, I will never do business with Guitar Center again. The below experience happened on a weekday afternoon during the lockdown months and the store was not busy and there were ample enough employees doing everything EXCEPT helping customers. Plainly put, This Guitar Center, the one in Gwinnett county, Georgia- GUITAR CENTER GA 1455 PLEASANT HILL ROAD STORE. 30044. Got it? Stay away. I have never seen a worse example of lazy, arrogant, and just plain unfriendly people running a store. Give me a job. I could do 1000 times better. In a nutshell, during the lockdown back in March through June. I set up a home studio to work on some projects. I had a budget of about $3000 to buy as many guitar pedals that I could afford. I went to your store and was totally ignored. I'm a 60 year old man and I don't look like a your typical young and emerging ROCK STAR and I felt like I was written off and dismissed by the a*wshole at the used pedal counter. Just a complete rude person. No patience no sales skills, no interest in people, just a complete turn off. I went home and ordered over $2000 of gear from Amazon.com and Music-go-round in Duluth between March and April. Musicians Friend.com is also on my "do not buy from" list. They are GuitarCenter's online sister company. It may sound harsh, but somebody needs to get fired over there. It is such an awful experience going into that store. You can feel the laziness of the people when you walk through the door. Nobody wants to help you. Nobody asks "what kind of music are you recording?" Just a bunch of bad attitudes. You get the picture. I almost reported the store to the better business bureau but it wasn't worth my time. I went yesterday and the service was great! I went right when it opened and they were busy but super friendly. I think they were a little understaffed but still had great service. I sold a guitar to them and they gave me $100 for it. Also the address takes you to a different place (I think where the old location was) but it's in the same parking lot. read more

Oh Guitar Center, I have a love-hate relationship with you. Like many musicians, I love to window shop and occasionally legitimately shop at Guitar Center. I've stopped by this GC many times, and I have bought a few things from this store. I love the selection of electric guitars, pedals, and amps. I found a used Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster here once, and it was fun to try the scalloped fretboard. The selection of acoustic guitars isn't as great, but they carry some pretty nice Martins, Taylors, and Gibsons. My interactions with the employees have been a mixed bag. For every super cool and helpful person, there seems to be 3-4 hackneyed stereotypes of failed musicians that work here. One time, an employee was demonstrating his brutal shredzors. I'm used to hearing mediocre guitarists crank the amps at GC up way too high to demonstrate their painfully average-to-below-average ability, but not the employees. Another time, I was simply trying to buy strings that I like to use and the guy behind the counter just couldn't keep his opinion to himself. I wanted Ernie Ball electric strings, and the condescending idiot told me D'addario electric strings are sooooo much better. I wanted uncoated strings for my acoustic, and he made sure to express his disapproval of me not buying the coated strings. I declined their string program, and he asked me "if I even music brah" (no, he didn't use those exact words). Eh, this is probably a pretty average Guitar Center. read more

This concerns the store on Pleasant Hill Road. I am a senior citizen who is taking up guitar. One month ago I knew absolutely nothing about guitars. Plus...I am a slow shopper and will take my time. One thing I noticed is that on the weekends, they are very busy. Yes, it's hard to get help but eventually they will get to you. I'm in retail and I get it! I have made numerous visits and have talked with at least seven employees. I have nothing but praise for every one of them. While some knew more than others, I found all of them to be nice and helpful. In fact, I have been impressed when a couple have said, "I don't know the answer, but.xxx does, I'll get him". Brian has spent an inordinate amount of time with me. He is extremely knowledgeable. Zack helped me pick out my first guitar and I made him play at least a dozen before I picked one (I couldn't play yet). I signed up for lessons with Will and he has been great! Have to call out Ryan, Jarred, and an older guy I can't remember his name. There are others but like I said, I'm old and names escape me. I have been there at least 7-8 times over the past few weeks. I think I have played and asked questions about at least 20 electrics. Not once did an associate seem impatient! I finally decided on one but had to special order it. Pretty sure they all heaved a silent sigh of relief because I finally made a decision. Can't wait for it to arrive! Yes, it's a busy store! Go on a week night if you don't want to wait. But these guys seem to just circle around trying to help customers (including the instructors). I've read posts about low stock. I've noticed that they restock constantly. It will be packed full one day and a few days later it's culled down. Must be a high volume store. Then boom...more stock. I have learned that "taking your time" can result in a guitar you wanted is gone when you go back. But they are very willing to order one for you. Oh...the return policy is great. 45 days, no questions asked. No, I am not an employee or friends with any them (other than being a satisfied customer so far). read more

This particular GC location specializes in not having anything, and not knowing anything about anything. More so than any GC location I've been to in the country except for Fresno CA's location. Maybe it was a fluke. I've gone int to story a few times. Customer service was good for the amount of customers inside. I called them one Saturday for a guitar truss rod cover. I've been in this store 3 times and I have yet to be waited on. This time I even asked for someone by name. The guy told me he wasn't in all week. Did he then say can I help you with something? Nooo! I want to purchase an amp and maybe a 'travel' guitar. But no one seems to want to help me spend my money. I even ventured into the high end guitar section to see if that would get their attention. My husband and I purchased our first guitars at this location, last week. We weren't waited on immediately, but when we did have someone assist us, we had the associate recommend going with the package deal, which was cheaper buying each piece individually. The draw back we had, was that we had to have the online coupon, in order to get the discount. We had a minor problem getting the online coupon to be sent to our one email account, on our Blackberry. Once we got the online coupon, we were checked out without any problems. We bought two guitar packages. My husbands did not come with a guitar strap, although it was to be included. Today, we had gone back to the Guitar Center and the manager gave us a discount off of a guitar strap of our choice. The manager had told us he had another customer get the same package and the cable for the amp was not in the box. We were taken care of and the employees showed their appreciation for our business. I recently purchased a Taylor 214 CE Deluxe and a Fender Amp and after lots of batteries and lots of troubleshooting and talking with Taylor support it was determined the guitar has a bad pre-amp and needs to be replaced. I called Guitar Center in Lawrenceville where I purchased the guitar and they said they would call me back but guess what! Crickets chirping...nothing! I also purchased a mic and mic stand (online) and the mic stand arrived damaged. I used $90 in Gear Card awards that I got from the purchase of my Taylor guitar on the second purchase. When I brought the damaged Mic Stand back they said they couldn't exchange it without my loosing my $90 award money. I pitched enough of a fit they finally did. Morale of the story, trust your intuition. Something told me DO NOT BUY FROM GUITAR CENTER and I didn't listen to my instincts; I bought from them anyway. BIG regret! read more

Inconsistent service. I came around 2 PM on a Wednesday and wanted some questions about a Ludwig snare drum. The guy at the counter told me that the drum guy was out to lunch. After waiting and waiting,....Finally he told me that the drum sales guy was back in the drum department but he was actually NOT there. The guy at the counter basically gave me the run around and he also disappeared and the entire floor was empty. It seemed nobody was available to answer some basic questions about a Ludwig snare drum. I have been to this location many times and on some days, you will get service and on other days, they seem to want to avoid you because the place is under staffed. It's basically a crap shoot whether you get your questions answered or not. Just hope you come on the right day. read more

My daughter and I went to the Lawrenceville Guitar Center planning to purchase a new keyboard for her to use. We were greeted at the door and then had exactly zero help the rest of the 40 minutes we were there. The greeter notified the "keyboard person" we were there, but no one showed up. I was able to switch around power cords and speaker cables so she could try out the units, but there was no one to help, even though there was plenty of staff and only a small handfull of customers in the store. We finally gave up, left and got a great deal with excellent sales help at Cooper Piano. That's a thousand buck Guitar Center won't get from us. read more

These individuals did not open the doors at noon, because they were waiting on the manager to arrive with cash or something along those lines. I went in here to purchase my first guitar. Up until the day b4 I had no knowledge abt them. All I knew is a wanted an electric guitar. The guy who helped me was friendly and knowledgeable. I walked out with my guitar only to have one of the strings break from toning it. I took it back and another gentleman replaced the string and toned the guitar for me. Customer service is great. 11:21 PM Wayne Williams I am not sure what is wrong with these people but the service would have to improve just to get to the level of THE SERVICE SUCKS ON PURPOSE, NO ONE COULD BE THIS BAD BY ACCIDENT. This is the 3rd time in a row I have been in to make a purchase and could NOT GET HELP. I think they HATE senior citizens. I went in the 1st week of May and had a terrible service attempt. I raised a little hell and Jared contacted me and apologized. So I went back and Jared was cool. I went in 1 week later to look at guitars and Jared was cool (Justin was awesome). I told Jared that I would be back the following Monday to purchase a guitar. Jared said great just to ask for him. I returned and he was no where to be found, I just thought stuff happens and no one was available to help me. I returned the following Thursday and stood in the guitar section for 40 minutes, Jared was at the register the whole time and NO ONE ELSE APPROACHED ME or would HELP ME. I did walk by the register and i thought JARED saw me because we made eye contact and I said "I AM READY WHEN YOU GET FREE" after 40 minutes he left the register and went in the back of the store. NO ONE EVER APPROACHED ME. I finally took my money and left. I called the following week and spoke to JUSTIN. He said the store was closed for a week. I asked him about the BOSS KATANA II amp and he confirmed that it would suit my needs. The following SATURDAY (today) I went to the store to buy the amp. I waited 25 minutes, I saw 5 people standing around the cash register but only 1 was waiting on anyone. I have no clue what the others were talking about, but when I walked over to the register they scattered like ROACHES. I went back to the amp section for a few more minutes. I finally told the one person that was actually working how pissed I was. He said if I could wait just a minute he would be glad to help me, but at this point a total of 1.5 hours in the store with no one willing to help me. As I walked out of the store there is a small office and there were 2 clerks sitting and 2 clerks standing there (4 total) like they were hiding from customers. This is why your reputation on line in various chat rooms is so terrible. I returned an item I bought for Christmas on 23rd. Said item was nearly 500$. I've yet to receive my refund back in my account after many emails and phone calls. Will be a cold day in hell before I go back to GC for anything. I was a loyal customer but not so much anymore.. I was told it would take up to seven business days then told ten business days. I personally try to avoid this location, but sadly its the closest one to me, and sadly they have the largest selection of gear, and I know I can get what I need when I go in there. Be prepared to get harassed by the sales guys when you plus into an amp. I cant tell you how many times I said no I dont want to buy this guitar or amp. However be prepared to stand around at the accessories counter while you wait for someone to finally acknowledge you are there, and get what you need. read more

I don't live in GA but I bought used PRS from this store. It was most horrible guitar condition. Condition says "Good". There's huge dent on front a piece of wood would come out of it even touching there. Plus nasty strings on them and there's sticky liquid on the fingerboard. I have purchased many used guitar from GC all over the states. I understand there's good ones and bad ones even conditions says "Great or Good" sometime you get great deal buying "good" condition. Sometimes not good enough with "great" condition. BUT this time, I had sticky liquid "maybe some spit from employee" kind of condition. Simply unacceptable! I still love GC but I never gonna order anything from this store. Please be aware. read more

The kit is in great shape, and Eric and Austin in the drum department were very helpful yesterday when I bought it and today when I picked it up. Over the last 20 plus years I have bought many guitars from both the Guitar Center in Duluth and the one off of I-85. Playing in bands I have also purchased all the accessories, amps, etc. probably totaling more than $15,000. However, the Duluth location has gone down in customer service so far I will no longer buy anything from this location as well as the main one. Twice in the last two months I have visited the Duluth store to purchase an amp and a new Stratocaster yet I have not once been asked if i need assistance. They appear to be staffed sufficiently yet they are lacking good sales skills. I would rather from this point going forward buy all of my musical needs from small individual owned stores and support them. I don't expect perfection from store employees but i do expect a greeting and a "how can i help you today?" If they are busy, a quick "I'll be right with you." I can't even get a hello. I would hope someone will read this and address the store's personnel needs and professionalism but too late for me. read more

I purchased a used guitar from Guitar Centers web site.I get email confirmation, order number, my credit card is charged. Email from guitar center says thanks for your order and I will receive tracking number once item is shipped. I sell one of my own guitars to offset this purchase and I'm upgrading. Three days go by, no follow up email, no tracking number. I call GC customer service. They tell me they will investigate. Hours later, I receive email stating the guitar is sold, it's no longer available. The guitar was selling at half price of a new one. So I asked if they would give me a discount on and "open box" guitar, same model, that I saw available on their web site. Their reply after they took my money for days and they sell the guitar that I bought no one bothered to call me, after that inconvenience......they tell me no, they can't give me a discount. Drum Personnel in this location sucks! If you can't stand people trying the drums you should move to another section or get another job. I wasn't playing loud nor for a long time. Nobody was waiting to play, when suddenly the guy behind the counter just approached to take the sticks from me without explanation. I saw how other people play as much as they want it.
