Most of their guitar stock is focused on entry level models rather than high trim models. On the plus side they had a good selection of nice Orange amps and carried a line of affordable pedals, by outlaw effects, that I've never seen elsewhere. The two young store employees were nice and friendly. On the negative side, I was really turned off by the store owner and didnt want to do business with him as a result. He approached me while I was checking out a Jaguar guitar and I asked him a few questions about how the controls on the guitar worked (because they were really different) and what the B stock label meant and how that could affect resale down the road if I decided to sell it. His conversational tone and somewhat combative statements were really off putting. The guitar was a pretty good deal but I really didn't want to do business with a guy like him. Shopping for guitars should be a fun experience, but this was just an upsetting one. This visit made me appreciate Guitar Center a lot more because they treat customers (including kids) so well there and don't make you feel bad asking questions about guitars or taking your time checking out gear.

Rick explained the pros and cons of various guitars and let me try several without pressure to pick any of the several I tried. Fast forward to end of March when I stopped in to have the new guitar checked and adjusted by Tom. While discussing my disappointment at my lack of progress at the other school, I was introduced to Ken B. I took a FREE introductory lesson the following week and left with more guitar knowledge in a 30-minute lesson, than I had received in the last 4 months. He takes my age (71) and my abilities into account as we go through the lessons and the homework he gives me for practice. My progress since mid-April has been remarkable. Highly recommend both the store for your musical needs, and Ken personally if you need lessons.

If you need to purchase something this is the place they are not over priced like the places around the city They have great prices and while sometimes there can be a wait that is due to so many being there I will continue to support the Mom & Pop places of Market Street that have been there since i was a child. I spent 25 years living in Baltimore 3 in NY city and 5 in Washington DC and i still come home to the neighborly feeling one gets in Frederick at the little shops downtown and that experience really comes through at Cole's. Most those working there are family members and they also when you are in a bind and need a lil money are always ready to give you what you need.
