Customer service sucks! I have been store loyal to the cary store since they opened and today I wanted to sell my 2024 Epiphone 59 les Paul and all I wanted was 450 for it and they insulted me with a price of 350, and they said they sell them for around 700, so making 350 on the guitar isn't enough? I have bought quite a few guitars from them but never again, it wasn't even a fair price. The manager didn't care at all. You guys lost my business and my families business forever! read more

I indulge readers to inquire into this matter directly to Guitar Center of Cary, NC about said incident; should any format of doubts surface after reading herein. At precisely 1:32PM Eastern Standard Time on March, 12th 2022 - I made contact with Guitar Center located at 7123 O Kelly Chapel Rd. Cary, NC Zip code 27519 to inquire about both a headphone jack, and JBL Line Array System for the launching of a newly devised sound reinforcement company-aiming to open in NC - early Spring 2022. I dialed (919) 286-5600 and without any digital reception or automated response system holds, *Andrew answered the call with the standard greeting following "how may I help you." I felt all too positive "I'm in a professional hands now -buddy, and this is absolutely going to be a brilliant experience." So... Movie forward; I uttered, "Andrew-I'm seeking a headphone adapter that will convert mini-jack to quarter inch," Andrew responded "what's that." As to not draw this story out too long; after giving clarity to Andrew, he responds "there appears to be none on the shelf that I can see." Feeling a little puzzled, I decided to call back, and speak with Pro-Audio, as I became sidetracked from the frizzled response from Andrew's information content. An upon calling back - Andrew immediately says "aren't you the guy-that just called about the headphone jack," I; responding: yes-I am and I need to speak with Pro-Audio. Andrew utters "Pro-Audio's tied up right now," which I then responded back: so... I'm just out of luck Andrew on my inquiries about the JBL line array system I need-yes?You know Andrew, no worries-okay. I will take my business needs elsewhere-good Sir. Have an outstanding day. *End of transmission & conversation. In conclusion everyone, I have never - in nearly 23 years - received such poor customer service from a Guitar Center representative-ever. Absolutely, unheard of actions, and performance. *No, I wouldn't recommend this particular branch of Guitar Center Cary, NC. I'm sure - perhaps other personnel are more professional. **Nevertheless... A $12,478.00 USD sound reinforcement budget has been re-directed to Sweetwater as of yesterday, due to one individual's (Andrew) performance, and such an un-professional experience. No recompense is designed or needs be for me personally, but this is a very true story, and perhaps this review will bring about the attention of upper management. I ponder... Overall, this store is fantastic! The only issue I had was with the big tall guy named James. A sweet young man was helping me and my child out with a piano, showing us the different variations. The salesman helping us went to ask James a simple question (they were busy at the time). The person helping us quickly got side-tracked and James pretty much high-jacked the sale. I certainly hope the person helping us got credit for it. Ever since, when I'd come into the store, I'd see the same behavior from James. It seems to me like someone ought to sit down with that guy and have a chat. He doesn't seem to know what sales ethics means. read more

I visited this location with two other people on a Sunday afternoon. We came by to rent mics for recording. - I had called earlier about renting mics. The clerk on the phone was helpful and offered me a selection to choose from. I selected a few and told him I would pick them up within the next few days. - The prices I was quoted were reasonable for the quality I was getting. - When we arrived two days later to pick up our mics, the clerks at the desk looked confused and informed us that they didn't do gear rentals. I pointed out that the website says that's a service Guitar Center provides and I already spoke with someone on the phone. Nope, they wouldn't help me. They wouldn't even ask a manager about it. We ended up leaving empty handed. Overall, I was disappointed with my previous experience here and it was a complete waste of my time. Beware that someone on the phone can give you a completely different story than the salespeople in the store. read more

Very nice store with lots of great stock! The staff if friendly. This area is up and coming. I am happy to see to see this store on the Cary side. This location is right next to Target in Parkside Commons in Cary off of 540. Very convenient access. This area will be as big as brier creek soon. Need some musical instruments, accessories or lessons? Come and check out the guitar center in cary. Staff is VERY knowledgeable about the products and the differences in each. Great sales! It's great to have another guitar center in the triangle. This particular guitar center is located in a new and super clean shopping center by triangle park. In my opinion, it's kinda hidden. I didn't know about it until I did some google'ing. It's a good size shop with plenty of parking. It's well organized and clean. I can spend all day here if I wanted to. Great customer service! The guy helping us was very attentive and kind. We appreciated that the most. Keep up the great job! read more

This place SUCKS. Do yourself a favor and drive over to the Raleigh location where the employees are actually helpful. The salespeople at this location do not give a damn about customers. Evidently they are all rock stars, just working at this place to pay bills. I walked in looking for a few specific parts for my Les Paul. I went over to the luthier station and was looking at all of the parts they have hanging around for several minutes--enough time to find out on my own they didn't have what I needed. I then went over to the used guitar wall and saw a few pretty nice ones in the $500 range that I was semi-interested in. I spent about 10-15 minutes in this place, and not one of the 9 employees standing around, shooting the breeze in the register kiosk could be bothered to ask me if I needed help with anything. Apparently they don't work on commission, because I would have gladly laid down some bucks if someone had just talked to me for a minute. Worst. Customer. Service. Ever. read more

ALLEN is the GC (Guitar Center) Tech at their Cary, North Carolina store.. I had some issues with my guitar's settings. This is a guitar that you don't let just anyone work on.. it's a rare classic. Allen totally took care of my pride and joy re-stringing it and adjusting to get everything just right. Once in a while, you come across someone who you just feel comfortable with. To get to the point, he took care of my guitar's fix, and I could tell he respected and treated the guitar for what it is. I appreciate that very much. Worst customer experience my brother and I have ever had with Will the Manager on 1/16 at 7:20 pm. We rented a piano for my sister's wedding and called ahead on logistics of pick-up and return. We confirmed that the rental could be picked up in Raleigh and returned in Cary (a location much closer to my home). When we arrived at the Cary location we were asked to wait and given a bad attitude about bringing it back to the "wrong" store even though we were told on the phone and at the Raleigh store it was fine. After much sarcasm and condescension with Will talking on the phone to a Raleigh associate named Becca, he asked us to walk around the store because it would be a while. Obviously he wanted us to walk around because he couldn't stop talking about how it's our fault for returning to the wrong location. After making us wait for 15 minutes, he said he would charge 20 to deliver to the Raleigh store (this is not in the rental contract) or we take ourselves. He highly recommended that we take the piano to Raleigh ourselves (in a sarcastic manner). Completely inappropriate managerial behavior and nothing to meliorate the fact that the fault is on the store. 15 minutes later Becca from the Raleigh store called to apologize and said we could go back to Cary and return the equipment there. That's not going to happen after paying round trip tolls for a wasted trip to a store that soured the end of my sister's wedding weekend. read more

Great location, very clean store! It's not that big but they have a great vibe when you walk in. The layout is sweet. Love the open floor setup. Unlike most music stores, when you walk in you aren't tripping on products. The staff is friendly and knowledgable of what they have. Yet another GC devoid of interesting used gear or really much of anything interesting. Let's see, this must be the 4th or 5th GC I've been to in recent months that are simply shadows of a what I consider a full-service music store -- or even what they were months before. Not real sure what is a afoot but GC no longer carries Mesa Boogie after running hot and heavy with the line for a bit, and really the only amps you are likely to find in any given store are Fender and Line 6, maybe a few Orange and Marshalls. The odd lower end Peavey might show up, but a 5150 or 6505+, which used to be common, are near unicorn status. The guitars are boring as well -- tons of Les Pauls and Fender Strats, plus Ibanez. Some nice axes, but nothing really exotic to keep you swinging by for test-drives. Worst of all, ALL GCs seem to have curtailed buying in used gear. There is just nothing there -- and that used to be a great reason to stop by. This store had precisely ONE guitar worth banging on, a used LP Custom of recent vintage into which someone had dropped Seymour Duncans. I have no idea what the new business model might be -- but the old one is long gone. read more

I generally shy away from the bug box music store but one of the casualties of Covid is the independent music shop. I needed a set for a guitar. Restringing, new bridge, adjustments. The works. Took my Taylor in to the guitar center and they had it back in a week. The repair guy took great pride in his work and the guitar is as good as the day I bought it. In fact it's better. I highly recommend supporting any music store. We can all use more music in our lives. Guitar Center closed a number of stores in the Triangle. Help them do what they do best. read more

THE BEST Guitar Center I've ever been to!! As soon as I walked in John, the sales guy, asked if he could help me (that alone is worth 4 stars because it never happens at any other location I've been) I needed cables and headphones. He took me right to everything, giving me well thought out advice and even taking the headphones (gasp!) out of the box for me to try. Went here with my brother who's just getting into producing music and was looking for a new mic and a di box. One of the staff members was completely unhelpful, unfriendly, and condescending. As someone who works at a music store you think their interest would be in helping customers learn more about their passion and in turn they would gain loyal customers. Everyone's got to start somewhere and that attitude isn't going to win anyone over. We ended up leaving with just the di box and no mic and got a snarky remark from one of the staff members. Likely going to travel the extra distance to the Raleigh location because the customer service was unacceptable. read more

The basic Guitar Center experience. I see this as a place to check out and feel free to play with tons of instruments and audio equipment. For that I say I'm a fan. The staff has always been friendly, not pushy, and pleasant to me. LOADS of stuff at good prices. If you're into serious high end gear or want hands on loving care by a master tech, then maybe look elsewhere, but if you are one of those, then you already know this. read more

I went here today planning on buying a guitar. Didn't know which 1, but I had put some money down towards a purchase. The 40 watt amp I was playing was set at 3, The salesman came to me and told me to turn it down, becuase his boss thought it was too loud. There was 2 customers in the store. I thought about this for a minute, and instead of making a fuss, went to the register and got my deposit back. I told them to tell the boss I was sorry if I made too much noise, but I would have bought a guitar if I could Have heard it._I was more than turned off. These guys are usually really accomodating. Overall, I have always a good experience here. Not sure what happened on this particular day. I guess we all have bad days. I would shop here again, as I always have. read more

These people suck. I bought a Martin. They did not give me paperwork and registration materials. When I needed a repair, Martin said it was already registered to someone else- meaning someone bought it, registered and returned it before me. Guitar Center sold it to me as new, knowing the lifetime warranty would come up invalid when I needed it. That's why they witheld the information packet at the sale. When I went there today to ask for help validating the warranty, the guitar area manager, in consultation with the store manager, told me they would give me no help whatsoever. What a couple of jerks. I called Martin and Martin called the store and then, within minutes, they cleared it all up. I wouldn't recommend shopping at that place to anyone. read more

I went into this store in Cary, NC this past Saturday, March 5th and was very displeased with the service I received. I purchased some guitar strings and decided to take a look at some acoustic guitars. I have been in the market for a Martin for awhile now and saw one that got my attention. A used Martin DCPA4 that was on the wall in the humidified room. The guitar was in great condition and I asked Will (Customer Service Manager) what year the guitar was. He replied he thought it was a model from the mid 2000's. He picked up the guitar started playing it in a rough manner and even sat the base of it on the hardwood floor. I asked him not to do that as I was interested in purchasing the guitar. He did not offer to find out definitively what year the guitar was. I asked him if he could help me find out. I had to call another guitar shop to get this information. The guitar was made in 2014...not the mid 2000's. I got some information about putting the guitar on hold and said I would come back. I came back 15 minutes ready to buy the guitar. The guitar was leaning up against the customer service kiosk with no protection from a fall. I asked Will if he could throw in the roadrunner case if I bought the guitar today and he said he could not. I asked him if he was sure and he replied that he was sure and had been doing this for 5 years and he was sure. He told me he would throw in some string or a capo, which I was not interested in. He was arrogant, not helpful, and and handled the merchandise in a careless manner. I called the store manager, Chris yesterday, and left a message with John to give to him as he was helping another customer. I never received a call back. read more

I have been to Guitar Center in Raleigh, Charlotte both, Greensboro, Dallas area several. I have never seen one that had such a poor selection of electric guitars. Most are chinese built and cost less that 500, stuff you would buy for your kid to get them off the internet which never works. No PRS guitars like Raleigh GC, which had many premium PRS guitars that cost over $2000. Not here. The amps are basic chinese models too, Mesa is gone from GC along with premium Marshall's, mostly just the low end stuff from all, Line 6 etc. A few Music Man's but not the full line. The store is new which is rare for GC they usually inhabit old car dealerships or drug stores, but the guitars are mostly several years old with old rusty strings. You can see the date by the serial numbers on the back if you know much about guitars, which they hope you don't. read more

Selection and prices are good, but after having great customer service one visit, I was ignored and my kid was humiliated today. Ten employees to two customers, and no one helped me in four different areas, told my son he could not play the drums after allowing several others to do so, well guess what? He has 5 years experience and is about to buy a $2000 kit. So he won't be buying it there. And my daughter wanted to buy a banjo, but the only people that went near her said nothing, but as she said, made her feel as if she was going to break the thing. Again, and experienced musician with a desire to buy and treated like a hoodlum. Wish I could take back all the things I bought already. read more

I went to check out the new guitar center in Cary and to get some strings for my daughter's guitar. We also wanted to grab a pick or two. They had a rack of guitar picks for anywhere from 3-10 bucks for packs of several. We just wanted like one or two so we were hoping they had some singles at the counter. We didn't see any so my daughter asked the guy behind the counter if they had some. He said "sure, give me one second." He opened a big box of guitar center logo picks and gave my daughter a small handful. He then said "that's on us." I regret that I didn't catch the guy's name, but he made my daughter's day with just a simple gesture of some guitar picks. He could've just shown us to the rack of picks that were a few bucks but instead he hooked my daughter up with some free ones. Guitar picks are literally a dime a dozen, so I know it wasn't a big deal to them, but it was to us. They have excellent customer service. We will definitely go back for our guitar/musical needs. read more

Brought a guitar in for service when GC was in Burlington just before the move down to Cary. The work hadn't been done yet but that didn't surprise me because of the move but I did get told to check in that day. I was going to pick up some items I wanted anyway and the guy that was doing the repairs showed up. I told him what I wanted done on the guitar and he said well let me get the new strings on it and see how it sounds. He made a minor adjustment to the bridge and put the new strings on it and that was it. He didn't take the tuning keys off to clean them up from sticking and being gummed up, I didn't get the strap peg put on like I asked for either. So I'll be taking it to a different shop to finish up what should've been done in the first place, and it's to bad I'll lose a brand new set of strings out of it. I probably will return for purchases but not for maintenance......... read more
