Their return policy is ridiculous. First, the workers didn't even acknowledge me in line and left the counter before saying a word to me. I stood there for 5 minutes. When they came back, they were working with customers (supposedly), and sent me upstairs to the DJ department to make my return. That. Is. RIDICULOUS. I leave the store, take the elevator up (stroller), and walk to the DJ section of the store. There was a counter right in front of the door, so I begin getting the item to return. "Uh ma'am, can you walk around to here." He wanted me to push my stroller and this box around the peninsula of the counter to the cash wrap - which was literally 2 feet away. So you mean to tell me you couldn't just take the box the 2 feet to scan it? I can't.....your customer service is on a pre-k level, not even elementary. read more

This guitar center needs a full employee and and manager retraining . Two managers said different information about the hours of operation . It's stated that all parts of guitar center should remain open until it's closed as policy . I was told I couldn't be serviced because of such poor excuses such as "we don't wanna be here at ten from one manager and another cursing at me and arguing after I confronted them about saying incorrect information . They started shutting down registers prematurely and wouldn't give me any concrete information about what I needed . Excuses of being understaff when they were sitting around doing nothing . Every year this guitar center gets worse and they might just need to close the location at this point because it's always something . Not organized nor proffcient at there job it's a shame . I been watching the decline of this location for some years now . Also was told to call ahead . I bought and was not told that I could get a 15 percent discount if I sold me old keybord to GC. When I read about the discount the next day, I called and they said I could bring my old synth and get it. However, after schlepping my instrument all the way to Brooklyn, I was told that my ID was not acceptable. Funny thing is, when I bought the piano the day before there was no problem with that very same ID, even though I paid with credit card. I tried to convince the guys that I could not just go to Brooklyn a third time because they keep on making mistakes. Yes, indeed, I had to go back where I came from and come back the next day. Another thing that annoyed me was that the (at least friendly) assistant manager always went away when I suggested something. Hi, I posted a review on the 18 th December about my experience on the guitar centre in Las Vegas. After the review someone from guitar center posted a reply asking me to put my complaint in an e mail and send it to them at your voice @ guitar center and they would chase it up. Tried to buy a guitar online from Lv as my daughter was there with work for a few days. She went to the store as I am in the uk and I said I can pay using my Barclaycard on the phone or online. The manager stated it takes two days to clear payment? Barclaycard is instant. I asked my daughter to pick it up on the same day she flies back home. Ime talking about paying $3500 for a guitar. The manager never spoke to me whilst I was on the phone to my daughter, I had been sending e mails all week to say I wanted it but my daughter couldn't collect it until a certain day, they put it away for me. I cannot believe in this day and age they wouldn't accept payment online or on the phone. Well pissed off to say the least. read more

I love this store! Even though im not a Guitar player this place really makes you wanna pick up an instrument lol! They have an awesome guitar section where you can jam out and then a percussion section to bang on some drums ( they even sell the drums that all my russian bukharian uncles play on) so theres a lot of cultural diversity , the caribbean drums were too much fun. They also have banjos and ukileilis( however those cute little hawaiin guitars are spelled) and a keyboard/ piano section. But the top floors my favorite with the dj booths spinnig turntables and lights and speaker system , makes u wanna party up there. The staff is super helpful and friendly they will most likely have what u need or they can order whatever is out of stock for u and have u pick it up or it will be delivered to your house. read more

The staff here is great! Anytime I've had to come in to get gear for my guitar or have questions, I've received excellent service with a smile. I recently went in to get my guitar restrung and DYLAN was absolutely amazing! Although they don't typically do restrings on the spot, he was able to do it for me and even made an adjustment to the neck that I didn't realize I needed. Worst guitar center ever!! Obnoxious managers, totally unprofessional. Now I understand why this company is going under. Worst service ever.

I have been to this store countless times, i purchased a es-335 for around 3 grand and enjoy the employees help and feedback. Today my friend and i went to sell a ibanez electric guitar. It was unstrung but in working condition. The employee (the guy with the English accent) was very nice and said he would check what he could do for us, and called his manger. Immediately the manager (the guy with long hair) gave my friend an attitude and told him that his "opinion" was that he couldn't buy the guitar due to it not being in working condition "string-less". He went on to tell us we couldn't buy strings and string it up ourselves, and charged us $27 bucks to get it strung. It gets even better this prick told us he wouldn't buy the guitar after waiting half an hour for the guitar engineer to get back from his/her lunch break and to string up the guitar. He said it would cost us more to fix a lose input jack and fret buzz at the 11th fret. Anyone who knows anything about guitars knows this is a 5 minute fix. While Waiting my friend and i went into the back acoustic room and the manger proceeded to strum as hard as he could into my face. You lost my businesses and i will not be returning ever. read more

Whether I'm walking into an instrument store, a restaurant, a library, up to a food cart or calling a company over the phone, customer service means EVERYTHING to me. Tonight I walked into this Guitar Center and had one of the best customer service experiences! It was my first time there and I'm sure I clearly looked lost and overwhelmed. I saw an employee pass by me and I basically whispered, "I need help" and he walked right up to me and was like, "Hey! Sure. How can I help you?" His name was RYAN. (Bless him.) I needed A LOT of help as someone who is a newbie who's about to start guitar lessons next week. (I already own a guitar, just needed some additional items.) He answered all of my questions, was real about his suggestions (he wasn't just looking to make a good sale) and took care of getting all of the items I needed while I browsed the rest of the store. He was the epitome of phenomenal customer service! (Give that man a bonus!) If you're ever at the store and need some help from a genuine and attentive person, look for Ryan! Besides that, the store has a great selection of items and a great layout. read more

Pretty quiet compared to other locations and the clerks first get a feel of what you use/what you want to accomplish before they start suggesting useless things. Prices are high but there are always coupons online and if the price in the store is higher that what you saw online they will match it once you have the proof. read more

Brought in a guitar that I bought back in 1998 that my Guitar Hero Juliana Hatfield had played but over time I had neglected and had collected dust and Grime :( But as one my new years resolutions I wanted to make sure to clean her up and play again in 2020 !!! I came in with my 10 year old daughter and the service was horrible. Totally condescending, not helpful and I could tell the first seller that ignored us and the second who dispatched us quickly did not care about helping us because we were not looking at the very expensive guitars. But this is how it works, they just turned away a very promising guitar player, what would have been a long-term customer. read more

I went 3 times over the past 2 months. All three times were TERRIBLE. I went in for an order pick up because I ordered online. I ask one of the guys he where can I pick up my online order. He goes "anywhere" and walks the h*ll off. ‍ what do i do now? So fine i go to another dude. He says i got you takes all my information does some stuff on the computer and says yea ill go get it. Im walking around waiting on dude to get my stuff he is fiddling with one of the pianos. Full mechanic mode flashlight and tools and everything. Now i get things happen in a busy store but you couldnt relay my order to someone else? Fine i go to dude 3. He comes back with only part of my order ‍. Dude the email said my order was ready why don't you have all the stuff?? He feeds me some bs story about verification I'm like buddy I know how order pick up works you're just flat out lying at this point... . Great staff! I even though I'm just blocks away from their Times Square store, I rushed out to Brooklyn a the end of the night to buy a used Epiphone Les Paul Standard in beautiful Pelham Blue that only they had. I left Manhattan at 8:10 and was in the store by 8:40 so clearly the MTA gods wanted me to have this guitar. Even though it was right before closing Julian never made me feel rushed and even asked if I wanted to try it out first. On top of that he told they had some old gig bags they were throwing out and he gave me one so I wouldn't have to haul a cardboard box. As I left he congratulated me on my "new axe." Solid shopping and excellent post-sale experience for a digital piano. Sean answered all our questions and quickly researched the few questions he did not have immediate answers to, such as whether the seats were synthetic leather. And when we had installation problems, he went above and beyond until we got the job done. So the post-sale experience really set Guitar Center apart. That is a huge advantage of choosing it instead of an online retailer. read more

I'll start with the positive: the selection is pretty great. That's about it. I went in looking for a Yamaha THR amp. An assistant pointed me in the right direction, but told me that I couldn't try the amp because they didn't have the power supply for the amp. I was then told "Time Square probably has it, these things happen" and then the worker just walked away, even though I still had questions about the product. The amp was covered in dust and I can only assume that they've knowingly just not had the power source for quite some time. Very disappointed. So, not wanting to feel like my walk to the store was for nothing, I went to noodle around on a few guitars. I was disappointed to see that many guitars were missing the rubber grips on their toggle switches, and several guitars were missing strings (particularly the white American Strat and the sunburst Strat HSS I wanted to play). Well, guess I'm not trying these guitars. After playing around on a Tele for a while, I had enough, because the guitar cable in the amp I was playing on kept shorting out. Really need to improve customer service and take better care of their instruments. I was looking to buy that day, and they let an interested customer get away. Will shop elsewhere in the future. read more

Probably the worst Guitar Center ever. The staff was incredibly rude to me, first time I've ever been there. I went on a weekday, wasn't really busy, and gone into the acoustic section. When I walked in, there was one other guy and I believe one staff member. I looked around for some guitars because I was hoping to get a new one. I picked up a Taylor, sat down, and started to play with it, testing out how much I liked it. A minute later, a bunch of kids or teenagers came in and started trying out some guitars too, which I was sort of fine with, a bit noisy, but fine with me. Then another minute pass by, one of the staff came in and told everyone to leave. Once the kids left, the guy asked another person who was sitting behind me on the bench, trying out a guitar, "How old are you?". The guy replied with "13", then he was told to leave. Then the guy told me I had to leave too. I was kicked out because I looked young? I wasn't with anyone, and I was actually going to buy a guitar. I asked the man why was I being kicked out, and if there was an age limit (which I know there isn't) to try out the guitars. He ignored me and continued walking away. So I left. HORRIBLE experience, having it to be my first time there. I honestly prefer the one in 14st Union Sq. I would personally not give this store ANY service or my money. I was not even doing anything corruptive, just minding my business and trying out a guitar that I liked. Is it even legal to kick me out because of my age or appearance? That's discrimination of age. This is the worst place to give any of your money to. The staff at Union Sq. is a lot nicer, smiles, wonderful respect, no matter what you look like, age, and other, they don't mind if you try things out. The personality of the people there are also so much fun and better. Overall, this place is a piece of c***. Hope this place shuts down. read more

The weirdest most frustrating experience ever. Needed a violin for lessons and was fine buying the 1 model they have, then they told me they can't find it and pulls the display for me. The strings are loose and so the person tries to tune it but it's not working and the frustration is evident and sh*t gets awkward that I just want to leave but tried to help. Then he condescendingly tells me how he knows...and I leave it be...then finally got the hell out. Wtf. Worst worst experience in customer service ever. read more

One of my favorite hang outs, i always like to jam with my friends there , the only problem that i have with it is that its far from my house and the peopple that work there are like vultures , they watch u until u finally buy somehting , this one guy passed by me roughly 500 times , givng me this * buy something or ill kill u* look . they almost pressure u into buying something and that really annoys me . but on the other hand there are some nice employees that actually help u play and teach u some new stuff. read more

Guitar Center is located on the lowest level of the Atlantic Terminal Mall. It can be kind of confusing to get to. Once you're in the mall just look for the escalators going down. If you need help buying something from a specific department, go to someone from that department. It will make your life easier. It used to be un-bareably loud in GC, but now that jamming is practically non-existent, you can leave the store without a headache. read more

This review is based on shopping for a guitar/bass. Guitar Center will try and sell floor models and what are essentially demo/open box models, as brand new instruments. Don't buy from the floor, ask if they have a brand new one in the back. If they don't, order it online from the manufacturer. I recently visited the Brooklyn store where a sales associate tried selling me a guitar with cracked machine heads (green plastic turn key on a Gibson Les Paul). While a few other guitars had visible damage on them while still wearing a full price tag. read more

Pretty much what you expect from Guitar Center. I've had some salespeople who really know their stuff and go out of thier way to help you, and I've waited for 10 minutes just to get somebody's attention. They did a good job setting up my guitar the one time I took it there for that. One of those places it's better to go to if you know what you want, IMO. read more

Called early to make sure this store had the recording equipment ($600+) that my husband wanted for his birthday. Asked on the phone if they would take the 12% off coupon he had used the day before online to price check. On the phone they said of course. We travel from Manhattan to this store on his birthday (same day we called) thinking it would be nicer to have it then wait for shipping. In the store, they won't take the coupon. Make us wait for 20ish minutes trying to figure out why they coupon won't work, and finally the manager decides he won't match the 12% off THAT WE CAN GET FROM GUITARCENTER.COM! So we leave without it, of course. Travel back to manhattan. Ordered online and saved over $65 with free shipping. The experience in this store was horrendous, wasted several hours, and really feels like they were trying to take advantage of us once they had us in the store. Will def NOT be going back. Not recommended for who knows anything about equipment and has access to the internet. waste of time. read more

I am a drummer who has shopped at different Guitar Center locations all over the country. I have had good and bad experiences, but after consistent customer service issues with this particular location, I really felt like I had to write a review. I obviously tend to gravitate towards the drum department, and this is where I've been running into problems. On my most recent trip I was looking to pick up a pair of sticks and a new bass drum head. Knowing exactly what I needed, I didn't need any assistance other than to check-out. There was one other customer who was checking-out in front of me, and was purchasing pro coverage for an item, and therefore was taking a bit more time. After being told I would be helped in just a minute by the woman at the register, I noticed two employees (that I have seen work in the drum section) just standing by an electronic set talking to each other. I looked over at them, and not once during my 25-minute wait JUST TO PAY did either of them even glance in my direction to see if they could help me get out of there. I was on a time crunch, and because what should have been a 5 minute-trip turned into a 30-minute trip, I had much less time to put the new head on and practice. The store was not busy and this made the situation that much worse. I was never given an apology for my wait either. This location has lost my business for good. They need to learn how to treat their customers with respect. read more
