Four years ago, All Island Restoration worked on our whole…read moredownstairs of our home after a flood we had in the kitchen. we needed our floor replaced because the water warped our pergo floor. When it was time to pick our flooring, my husband and I went looking for a floor in our given price range. We went to Home Depot and Floor and Decor and picked out flooring that we liked. Alexis kept telling us that she had a place for us to pick out flooring and kept avoiding talking about flooring we like from other companies. Since we were into the project for approximately 8 months already due to COVID, we decided to go with her contact. We wound up picking a floor with their contact, but we're concerned about how thin the flooring was since it was going over tile that was under our original pergo We were told not to worry about it and that they would make sure that everything was done right. About a month after install, the floor started buckling. We callEd All Island to ask Jay, the owner to come take a look at the floor. He said it would cost us $7,000 to redo the floor. We explained that we had reservations about putting this thin floor in, given our circumstances and that Alexis assured us that it would be fine and they'd take care of it. Jay told us flat out that he would replace it for another $7,000. Since then the floor has been separating in many places and even sticking up. We cut our feet on it and my husband had to tape it down. Since we only looked at samples and don't know the company they got this floor from, we have no warranty on it and have to redo the entire floor ( in four rooms of my home) costing us $9,000 more only four years later. The reason we waited these few years was because we knew it was going to cost a lot to redo this floor. Now we are in the process of getting it done right at a big cost. Home Depot professions said they don't even sell less than 8mm thick flooring, but All Island installed 5mm even after our concerns. I have many pictures of this disaster. When Jay visited us, he went around our kitchen kicking the planks to close up multiple gaps. The flooring was a big part of this disaster, but there is way more that happened with the crew that was working on our project. Paint splatter on our brand new windows and screens, holes left in corners of the room, kitchen cabinet handles screwed in crooked, grout started falling out of the backsplash tiles, and I could go on. Wish they would have done right by us.

From having to reschedule our initial consultation 3 times because he didn't show (no text or call to let us know). When he did arrive for the consultation, it was 2 hours late. He had high pressure, fly by night sales tactics like "I'm only going to be in this neighborhood today. I don't know when I'll be back in the area." He promised everything under the sun from cleaning our chimney, sending pictures and videos, a lifetime guarantee and etc. I pulled a picture from one of his Thumbtack reviews and told him that, that was what I wanted. He pushed back the start date twice, took one extra day to complete the project and arrived late each day. Further, requested additional payments in cash to "pay his guys" each day. He said he would send over the lifetime guarantee contract (never did). He also never sent the pictures and videos. My husband and I reached out multiple times until he became unresponsive. We were suspicious and decided to have other chimney contractors come to take a look at the job. I have attached the picture I requested from his reviews and the pictures we received upon inspection. We now have to hire a separate company to completely redo his work. We also filed a complaint with the better business bureau. We filed for a partial refund with Thumbtack. They were able to get ahold of him and he denied ever promising a lifetime guarantee (the company name is literally Lifetime Chimney Sweeps) and claimed he completed the project as agreed. The after pictures speak for themselves. Three different contractors were shocked and all said that they found moisture coming into our attic roof ...

The install went fine & the unit is working well. HOWEVER, I tried numerous times to contact this company by phone & email. & got no response back. (It's like they fell off the face of the earth)!! So I called Soundview & requested that a tech come down to look at a new thermostat I was looking to install. They sent Justin. He could not have been nicer, helpful & informative. He told me that the A/C unit I have does not require a multi stage thermostat & as such, I can return it to Walmart saving me $270. He also explained that the unit though not top of the line, was a good reliable unit that only requires the thermostat I already have. Lastly, Soundview was a pleasure to work with, Justin showed up on time & as a result, they will be my "go to" company for all ongoing A/C requirements. I highly recommend them!! J.F Smithtown

And when you subtract out the unlicensed, uninsured people from your list your choices are minimal. I wanted to replace our thermostat after a slight remodel. The old one was dingy and couldn't be salvaged. While we were at it we decided to add WiFi connectivity beacuse, well we don't really have a true need for that but since a thermostat was only a few dollars more i figured, why not. After examining the current thermostat and the wiring at the HVAC unit i was convinced the the job was beyond my skill level. Having seen Soundview shop every day on the way to the gym an knowing a couple of them work out in the same gym, I thought I'd give the local team a shot. They said they would send someone by to look at the job to give an estimate. The estimator cam by and looked and tinkered with the system for about 45 minutes. in the end he said my control panel wasn't compatible with new generation thermostats. This wasn't hard to believe, we know that the builder relied on a lot of "closeout specials" when building the house 20 years ago. He also mentioned that we may need a new damper. He stated he didn't have the control panel on the truck but he would go back to the office and have them contact me with a quote for the work. He gave me a ballpark but said they office would need to validate once the sourced the exact parts. I agreed and indicated I would wat for the quote even asking how long the job would take. I paid the service call fee on the spot and thanked the technician. Well it's been over a month and I'm still waiting for a callback with a quote (not really anymore). maybe I have a unique facial tick that coincidently tells people to "ignore this man.
