Check-in communication was difficult and we waited hours for a response. Some listed amenities were unavailable during our stay, including the jacuzzi. Beach access was also not directly accessible from the property because the stairs were damaged from a previous storm, so guests had to drive about 0.5 miles away, pay for parking, and walk in from another access point. The Whale Watch Room/community area was nice, but the kitchen setup was very limited. The biggest concern for us was the condition of the room itself. We noticed what appeared to be black mold in multiple areas, including near the window coverings and bedding, and at that point we no longer felt comfortable staying overnight. We chose to leave and drive back home instead. We understand storms and maintenance issues happen, but we do feel the condition of the property and unavailable amenities were not matched to what we paid for.

We decide to try it out. We get there and we are the only customers. Not sure if there is any seating in the inside but we grabbed a table outside to enjoy the views. A guy came out and gave us the tasting menu which is three pre chosen wines for $20. We do the tasting and was incredibly underwhelming. They poured the wine and that was it. No education or description provided. We did the tastings and left. At the end of the day, it was a bit of a waste of time.

The dahlia garden was spectacular; it was filled with many different colors, shapes and sizes of dahlias. I think the technical name for some of the styles were cactus, ball, and pom pom. There aren't a lot dahlia gardens around so for people that are really into flowers it's worth trekking up here. I liked the Heather garden as well, I don't think I've ever seen one. Rose gardens are usually my favorite but the one here was more minimal and catered to being more rustic rather than manicured. I think the Dahlia garden was the most impressive part.

The hall has big glass doors that can open out onto the outdoor area, giving the room a more spacious feel. We had around 70 guests and we could have fit many more. We loved the tall ceiling and wooden beams. The kitchen area was also spacious and manageable. I very much appreciate how much flexibility the center provided us. It helped give us freedom for creativity. Many other spaces we researched allowed only beer and wine, and made you choose from a limited selection of caterers (many, if not all, were outside of our budget). We could choose any caterer we wanted, and provided our own alcohol. Jean was a treat to work with. She was funny, kind, communicative, reliable, and prompt. Whenever I had a question she responded within a few days. She met us numerous times at the center and answered all the questions I had (many times I asked the same one twice, thank you for your patience). She was very warm and made the planning process more enjoyable. As for the meth head from the previous review (from 2013) I did not run into him. I don't think he lives there anymore. Guests kept commenting on how beautiful everything was, but also how relaxed and fun the day felt. There was no pretense or pressure--just love, laughter, tacos (SO GOOD), and pure joy. Rachel also helped us source our hair and makeup artist (who was amazing), our dessert vendor (adorable and delicious), and even supported our late-night In-N-Out plan. She managed every piece of the puzzle with grace and humor, and made sure we got to actually enjoy our wedding day. (Which we did. Fully. With Palomas. And a piano man. And guacamole on my dress.) If i can afford it, i wood (would, get it) get the beautiful big bowl or the credenza or the coffee table or the driftwood with air plant. Stop and enjoy some wood art. They custom make table tops.
