I'm not sure if it's new owners or they just got better, but the food is better than my last review. The person who has helped me the last couple of times is the same person. I'm not sure if he's the owner or just always there, but he's very sweet. I have tried a couple of items during my last couple of visits and they were both good and I come back so they are obviously doing something right. I usually stop by after camping since they have plenty of space in front of the restaurant for RV parking. It's actually RV/trailer parking. This place is just ok. I got the tacos entree but it was more like tres taquitos. They were deep fried with rice, beans, sour cream, guacamole with a little bit of lettuce. It was kind of bland and really nothing special. She got what looked really good was a mojahete bowl. It's was piping hot and looked delicious. She really enjoyed it a lot. Plus it was a huge meal and she took home enough food from it to have lunch on it for 2 days. If I were back in town I would go there again. But, I would not go out of my way to go to this place. We are from California and are very picky with our Mexican food. We came through and had a small bite and the food was good. The salsa had a small amount of heat and the pico de gallo was very fresh. We got the fajitas, and it was simple yet good. I don't know what people are expecting from Mexican food in Washington to leave these reviews. We arrived around 6, party of 11 that did not call ahead after boating all day. Expected some grief from the wait staff but instead were greeted with eagerness, they immediately brought out a folding table and set it up on the end of a booth so we could all be seated together. The Cadillac margarita was perfectly prepared, and the enchiladas camaron were delicious. All plates were brought out within 5 minutes of each other. Traveling with my special diet needs is not always easy. I need 4oz protein and at least 16oz of veggies. They had a Fajita salad option. It was still a lil short on what I needed but I added salsa and their fried jalapeño and made it work. The salad itself was just ok. Just a little shredded iceberg lettuce smothered with the fajita veggies. I asked for the meat on the side. $14.95 I asked for a separate bowl so I could weigh all my stuff. The guy working didn't understand my question (He probably thought I was odd) but the girl working was so nice and immediately brought me one. I added a star for her service! So I love trying new places and the restaurant we usually go to was really busy, so, we tried a new place. And sadly I was not impressed.. The inside of the building wasn't very eye catching the walls are canary yellow and there isn't much decor. But the atmosphere was pleasant. And the food.. Oh man, Where do I begin...? Their salsa tastes like a metal can.. The dish I ordered, was something similar to a seafood burrito.. I specifically requested absolutely NO other meat, just seafood. (I don't eat meat other than fish/seafood). The Entire burrito was littered with chicken.. Thankfully our dog liked it. My fella ordered the Ceviche and it wasn't blended or cut at all, and they didn't give him any of the corn tostadas that go along with the course, it was literally Pico with shrimp and some lime.. If you are ever in Woodland, please stop by this establishment, you will not be disappointed. I ordered my to go dish "carne asada" and it was!! I asked to be cooked medium term, it came out with the right amount of softness and juiciness. I can say carne asada is grilled beef, but that will be a disservice to the cut of meat used and to the person manning the fire. When done right this plate is a song in your mouth that makes your brain dance to the flavors brought up front by the flame. No fake carne asada here! Fried sautéed meat is no comparison to this cut when is handled by a knowledgeable cook/chef. Even the white onion that comes on every plate was fenomenal, it was grilled as well and the flavor of it was a perfect company to the meat. I also ordered horchata and flan. Just look at the pictures!!!! This restaurant is located on the property anchored by Safeway supermarket in Woodland, not flashy, but the place is comfortable, quiet, with music but not loud, and clean floors!!! Not shabby!!! You are going to be pleased!!! Ohh, I haven't mentioned the wait staff, it was not an oversight. A good host and server need to be as inconspicuous as posible and they are. The dishes were authentic and flavorful. Light, crispy chips served with fresh salsa that had the right amount of heat started the meal off right. I ordered the Enchiladas de Camaron (shrimp enchiladas) that were made with large fresh shrimp and a creamy tomatillo sauce and husband had the Cameron al Mojo deAjo (sautéd shrimp, onions, mushrooms). Stopped here for lunch yesterday. The ambiance was nice and the wait staff was very friendly. They started us off with some fresh warm chips and delicious salsa. It was all downhill from there. The Guadalajara burrito was bland and flavorless. The Chicken Mole was terrible. The sauce was grainy and just tasted really bad. I've had a lot of really great moles but this was just not even close. The beans were dry and the rice was not fresh. We thought of getting a flan to try and clean that bad taste from out palates but the flan seemed like it had been frozen for a while. The center was very cold, almost hard, the outer layer peeled off like skin and there was almost no caramel on it. Considering the ridiculously high prices, the food was extremely disappointing. I really don't expect a lot out of an bastardize Mexican restaurant. My other half and I just had a late lunch there and I ordered the Carna Burrito. What I did eat was like eating saw dust wrapped in news paper. No flavor to the meat or beans. The Tortilla needed a steak knife to cut through. My other half ordered a Ground beef enchilada. I tried a bite of it and the ground beef had a foul taste to it. So we did not eat very much of what was served. Many Mexican restaurants are very dirty but Guadalajara's is only the opposite as it is very clean inside yet still has the traditional atmosphere of a Mexican restaurant. TERRIBLE SERVICE! I live in Woodland and the wiser locals all go to Los Pepe's or Casa Tapatia. The manager lady is rude to you unless you're a man, she never smiles and does not seem to care about patrons. My best friend and I always meet for margaritas on Thursday and most of Woodland was without power (including our beloved Los Pepe's). We decided to try Guadalajara and we were SO DISAPPOINTED. We asked for water refills THREE TIMES and NEVER GOT IT! My sangria was a huge joke. Sangria with red wine should be deep ruby in color with lots of fresh fruit chunks (Los Pepe's serves theirs up in a big pretty fishbowl glass). Guadalajara's nasty sangria was light pink and had a few maraschino cherries in it and served in an old plastic cup. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! Bad service, so-so food, terrible drinks. But here's a special shout-out to Alondra, one of the staff. We had had a long weekend; we were on our way home. We were in our car, putting on seatbelts, in front of the restaurant. And here came Alondra...with the check. Yes. We had forgotten to pay. We're still mortified. Alondra's behavior was impeccable. No blame, no shame, very understanding. Was in the Ridgefield NWR area & needed a reference (Since our last experience in Ridgefield rather sucked). We decided on this four-star location based on our Yahoo app as it was only a few minutes down the road. Tried two different taco plates & wasn't disgusted. That's about as good as it gets. Just "OK" tacos, watery, bland beans, tasteless rice ... very much like what seems to be a majority of Mexican food up here in the Northwest. The salsa & chips were the highlight, not really a bragging right for them. Next time we're in the area, we'll try another place, but this was clearly nothing to rush back for. read more
