They gave me a quote initially to repair the soffit and fascia, replace a few broken shingles, and fix a leak located around a pipe boot. They gave me a quote initially and then when i finally decided on them their quote ended up being hundreds higher. They cited that higher prices and demand had driven prices up. I said ok, we signed the paperwork and I waited. I called. I waited. I texted. I waited. Finally someone got ahold of me and told me the work had already been done on my home 2 weeks prior. No scheduling. No verification. No sign off. I was not home during this job at all. There were items from the job incomplete. There were still shingles missing and guess what the roof was still leaking. Rocco said that we would have to do a more extensive repair that was not covered in the original bid. We said we would try to get more money from insurance to cover the additional repairs. Rocco stated he would work with the insurance company as he had experience working with insurance companies on the regular. Eventually after calling my insurance company it seemed he had never contacted my insurance. I thought he might be a busy man so I set up a meeting with all 3 of us. Rocco did not join the meeting at the agreed upon time and therefore missed the meeting. My father-in-law who had done roofing before was visiting from across the country and got up on the roof. Stated that it looked like a shoddy job if completed honestly at all. I asked Rocco for all records of my job any paperwork, internal communications, and photos and videos that he said he had from the men doing the job. Rocco said yes and has now ghosted me. I still have a missing shingle and a leak, over a year after the hurricane now. There was no offer to tarp the roof, no customer service, dodging calls, shifting blame, poor business practices, and shifty attitudes. Do not use R.L. Hayes. they may be coasting off their good reputation before Helene but it seems that they have had a very negative turn company wide after the hurricane.

Then the work started. Without saying they were here, no hello or word they were on there way. The deal was to look at the job and talk if it was a patch job or more, and what would be done. No talking, No hello, no word they were even here. They just jumped on my roof and from a nail holes leak they had a 2ft sq hole with no roof tiles left. I ran outside to talk to them but they were leaving driving down the road. I jumped on the phone to call the person I set the job up with to say "WHATS GOING ON" He said he would call them and let me know. I had many things at the time I could and did say to myself but will not get into here. Come to find out the two men that were on the job did not speak English at all. I ask the office to send a English speaking employee but Noone showed up. They completed the job and took pictures. I was not happy with the work and asked for a forman to come check the work. No one were showed. A few weeks later I got a phone call demanding to know why I had not paired. My answer was you have not sent the bill or a forman to check the work. To end this long story save yourself a headache and check around for a good business that sends English speaking employee.

Hurricane Helene (9/26/24) caused monumental damage to this community, and unfortunately to my house as well. Though my backyard fence took the brunt of it all, my roof also experienced the results of high winds and flying debris. And so, with shingles missing and small holes now present, it was clear a new roof would be required. I was one of many homeowners reaching out to literally every roofing company, via Yelp's Request A Quote I might add, and one of the responses came from Southpaw. The quote was on point and the timeline (in a single day) was exactly what I was hoping for. They communicated with me that they would be dropping off the shingles the evening before and sure enough around 7 pm a truck, with pallets and forklift, arrived. The team member sat the pallets to one side of the driveway so I was still able to park on it as well. And soon after sunrise the next day, the team arrived. Ladders went up and shingles came flying down. Before I knew it the sound of hammers on the roof began. They were there to work! Around 3 pm I went outside to get the mail and saw they were almost finished. But the weather had other plans. Rain soon followed. They were quick to cover the last section with tarp and waited on my front porch for almost a hour till the rain subsided. And then they got it done! While two were on the last section, the rest of the team were cleaning up the back and front yards. And let me tell you, it turned out beautifully. I hope I don't require roofing services anytime soon, but if I do I know who I will be calling.

Side note (I'm not fat shaming or old shaming!!!! But a much MUCH larger much older gentleman has no business going up a ladder into my attic that has no support and he could barely breath. And didn't even make it up there). he comes in my door with at least an 8 foot ladder and says "I'll do my best not to mess up the walls". I laughed a bit and said "please and Thankyou. We just had them all painted." SIKE! At least 10 spots on my wall that the paint is chipped off, dented, or scuffed. He didn't not even apologize or acknowledge that he messed them up AT ALL. I brushed it off because when I lose it I LOSE IT! Took a deep breath and trucked on. I was telling him about another company that came out and quoted me and he proceeded to tell me he couldn't come near that price but their company was better. That's fine. Everyone thinks they are the best. That's business. Understandable. He kept going and I kept my mouth shut about the walls for as long as I could. He goes outside to look at the roof and said he had to meet up with a coworker later and he would give me a call. At this point I want him gone now! So I was very short but remained polite and told him to have a good day. I'll be in touch. So I go inside and go about my day. I'm sitting on my couch and here he goes walking by my window measuring my house. Then I lost it. I opened my door and said I don't want your business please leave! He laughed. I slammed the door. 3 minutes later he calls me. I answered and hung up and told him to leave my property now or I would make him come inside and fix my walls (I have paint). He finally left and I called my mother and explained everything. She was even more mad then me so she called the company. She said they were very apologetic and would fix the damage. She told me that they would call me ina few minutes and ask some questions etc. THEY NEVER CALLED . SO.... if you want more damage done to your house then what you called them to fix by all means call them. If not Young's roofing or Crosby is a safe bet. Didn't have any issues with their quote at all. Sorry for all the grammatical errors and what not. I'm upset. We just got our dream home with some minor fixes needed. And now we have more. YAY UPDATE: my husband decided to call them after they didn't return our call as promised. He stated that if I wanted them to come out and fix the damage, I started out on the wrong foot by writing this review.... ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I STARTED OUT ON THE WRONG FOOT?!?! So we hung up. Words can not describe my emotions right now. UPDATE #2. They called back. They want to resolve the issue. Great. That's awesome. But he kept mentioning this review and how he didn't want it here. So do they want it fixed for us? Or fixed for their reputation? Who knows??? Well on the phone my husband was asked "if we fix the damage will you consider changing/removing this review" THERES YOUR ANSWER........ we will be fixing it ourselves. It's not like it's an expensive or hard fix. No need to hire the original painters to come fix it. It can be fixed with paint and spackle. But that's besides the point. It's the integrity behind it or lack there of. So to the workers reading this. Don't bother calling us again... we don't want your business or your damage control. Here's my final review. And here it shall stay. My recommendation is work on your choice of wording when speaking to a customer, especially in a instance like this. OMG WHAT A BLESSING! CALL SOMEONE ELSE FOR YOUR NEEDS. I CANT ADVERTISE THE BUSINESS HERE OR THEY CAN REPORT THE REVIEW. THEY CAME OUT ALREADY. SAME DAY. AND TEMPORARILY FIXED THE LEAKING PIPE BOOT UNTIL IT DRIES AND CAN BE FULLY FIXED/REPLACED. Had an issue with my insurance company and a scheduling conflict and told them I would call and schedule one it was resolved. Called in March to schedule a date and have been ignored for over a month. They only have one scheduler (Patrick) for all locations and could not even bother with a call back to schedule a time in the future despite multiple calls from me to the office. Hate to see this from a supposed reputable company. Also see on Google Reviews they are using their own employees to leave reviews.
