It is wall to wall alcohol dispensed by a couple of Greek or Middle Eastern (I can't really tell. Ooops!) guys who are always welcoming. The store has the old magical feel of a Diagon Alley wizardry shop. They have an awesome selection of spirits at very reasonable prices. There are also wonderful credit crunch beating deals such as two bottles of wine for £5. My favourite finds are Aperol, awesome Mount Gay rum for £12 and scrumptious Desperado beer. Drinkers Paradise, you are fantastic.

From everything I read, Drinkers Paradise seemed to be THE place in a city where the beer scene hasn't totally caught on yet. But nope, not so much. I admit, it looks really cool to stack your beers against the floor to ceiling windows. And I recognize that London doesn't get all that sunny. But on the day we were there, the sun was beating down, and the bottles were super warm. If my fella has taught me anything about beer, it's that the fastest way to make it go skunky is to leave it in the sun. So unfortunately, though they had lots of the beers I hoped to find, I just couldn't waste the cash.

The…read morestorekeepers have thought of everything, including random items you'd otherwise struggle to find. With a wide range of fresh fruits and vegetables outside the front of the store, this is one of few convenience outlets you can purchase something healthy and fresh. The inside of the store is set up superbly with a useful selection things you would find in a supermarket. With the incredible booze selection you'd be forgiven for thinking the people of Kentish Town had a drink problem. Saying that on the night I popped into Everbest Food and Wine there was a lady careering across Kentish Town Road clearly out of her mind, unable to see the big shiny metal death wagons hurtling towards her. Luckily her not quite so smashed friend who had a glass of Lambrini or two less, dragged her to the safety of the pavement. The downside of this well provisioned independent store is the inflated prices. There seems to be a trend of local stores selling food stuffs at a much higher price than the supermarkets. Thus if you have the energy, it is worth your while checking out the branded stores down the road. But if you are just after a quick compulsive buy, Everbest is excellent.

Nothing else would inspire me to shop in this 24 hour supermarket other than total desperation and the permanent closure of the local Sainsbury's. I make this bold statement due to the brand-own produce being downright terrible and bizarrely overpriced --- 2 for £3.50 screams the luminous sticker on the ravioli packets. Well (responds the texture-sensitive consumer), why not incentivise flaccid parcels of dough containing meaty gristle where advertised as 'bolognese' flavoured.
