After this negative experience, we set out to find a new contractor that could handle our restoration and our kitchen remodel. We interviewed a half dozen contractors, most of which didn't want to work within our budget or didn't work with insurance. Once we spoke with Michael from Edel, we knew we had found the right company. They were knowledgeable in working with insurance on the restoration side and got right to work to improve our living conditions, by getting our floors down in most of our home as we finalized the kitchen design and have cabinets built. Edel completed our kitchen/dining remodel, as well as laminate flooring, all new interior doors, and molding throughout our home. The kitchen/dining design made the absolute most of our space, giving us ample storage and flow to the kitchen/dining area. We got to visit Edel's comprehensive showroom on several occasions, which was very inspiring as we met with designers and were guided through making design decision. The cabinets are stunningly beautiful and function like a dream. We were always impressed by Michael and his team. We appreciated how respectful and clean they crew was each time they were out. He's an absolute pill, but we dealt with it because the ladies were pleasant and did a good job. Juan was consistently soliciting us to do *more work with them. We were supposed to have monthly cleaning. Frequently Juan would just *forget about us?* (and even SAID so) that sometimes it would go months between cleanings. There was NEVER a fixed day or time. When they would come, Juan called/txt me the night before and expect me to just drop what I have scheduled for the day and be available to them?? I suspect the issue might have been money. I'm retired and on fixed income. If Juan didn't wanted to do cleaning here he could have just said "not interested". Very surly on the phone. We also had deep cleaning which really wasn't all that different from regular cleaning, just cost a whole lot more. Oh well!

We hired Chimcare to fix our chimney and replace our insert. They sent an employee over to assess…read morethe situation and let the crew know what they needed to complete the job. He sent me a very complete list, but apparently the crew did not get it. The crew showed up to repair the chimney and was up on my roof for a good part of the day. Before leaving they told me the job was completed. The insert technician showed up to put the new fire place in an couldn't, because the chimney was NEVER repaired. ‍ When they returned and asked why the job was not done (even though I was told it was) they said they didn't have the materials to do it. Finally, we thought the job was complete. The first winter storm, at the beach, blew the entire top of the chimney. Note, no other neighbors had chimney damage from the storm. For every appointment they have been 1.5 to 2 hours late. GPS gives them a clear idea that it takes 2.5 hours to drive from their business to my home. When I contact them, after they are a half hour late, I'm told they left an hour ago. NOT RELIABLE! I am left feeling very uncertain if the job has been done correctly.
