If I'd listened to other people's advice, I would have bought a new tv over 10 years ago, I would have replaced my digital thermometer, bought a new coffee maker etc., got a new turntable. With regards to my turntable that is about 40 years old, I asked him if I would be better off buying one of those that he had on display, and he told me that mine was better, explained what features made it better, and that he would call be with an estimate. He did so the next day, and the repair was very inexpensive. If you want your items to last as long as possible, and not create more junk for the trash piles of the planet, getting things fixed is definitely better. He'll tell you if it's not worth repairing, and the estimate is free (in my experience).
