I've been going to the cafe for a while now as I pass it on my way to college and it has never disappointed once. It is now my go-to lunch spot when I need a delicious sandwich or a cold smoothie for the hot days. Overall service is wonderful and for it only being one person cooking and manning the front it is impressive how quickly I get my order. I've been coming here for a while if I just need something to keep me going throughout the day or sometimes when I just want a sweet treat(their smoothies are no joke)! I will continue going here for myself and would recommend this to anyone with any dietary restrictions or those who just want some REAL food thats healthy! read more

I strongly debated both whether to review Groton Wellness and whether to give it one or two stars. In the end, I decided that my experience warranted sharing my thoughts and giving it the lowest rating. The treatments themselves were good. However, the complete lack of any form of decent spa experience more than offset it. This place clearly is a stereotypical dentist-investor money grab by the doctors who own the practice that is the primary focus of this enterprise. As an initial matter, the website states that the spa is closed on Mondays prompted my calling to ask if they might allow me to use the sauna and the soaking tub on a Monday anyway because that was the day that I would be there from out of town. I was told that the tub and the sauna are open on Mondays. I agreed to the request to pay the full amount at the time of booking even though the website stated the policy of only collecting a portion of the fee at that time. This was more than one month before my visit. On arrival, there neither was anyone at the front desk nor any means of signaling that you are there. I waited at least a genuine five minutes before approaching the VERY surly woman in the back area of the cafe portion of the spa. She looked right at me and played the game of pretending that she did not hear me the first few times that I called out hello. The woman then grumbled about working on four orders; there was no one in the cafe. She came to the counter and told me that someone from the spa would be out in a minute. She easily could have looked for someone for me. Two women then came out from the back area. The blonde woman with the glasses was friendly enough. I first used the sauna, which was the better part of experience. There at least was a bench and a place to hang my clothes. The sauna felt good and therapeutic. The robe was worn, not soft, and too small to cover me without being very careful. Having to carry my clothes into the bathroom where the tub was located was not very spa like. My running a little early excused the tub only starting to get filled after my sauna. However, the small spa staff knew when I arrived and coukd have started the tub sooner. I had to wait in the very Spartan waiting area. There were a couple of uncomfortable wicker chairs and a few odd magazines. I also had to stress about my robe staying closed. For the record, I am 5'7" and 165 pounds. The tub itself was nice. However, I could have purchased the basic epsom salts that they used at Whole Foods or my warehouse club. The bathroom was chilly, lacked any good place for my clothes, or even a bench. The sink only had basis soap and paper towels. No nice hand lotions or other amenities. I can attribute the shower not working well to my not being able to figure it out. The shower being too small for me to fully get under the head, the water being tepid, and the soap being the Doc Bronners Castile soap that people use on camping trips is on them. The check-out process merely was "you've paid" and then walking back into the office area. There was not even the customary follow-up e-mail. read more

Dr Nordin designed a beautiful environment at her spa and cafe to complement her biological dental clinic, inspiring whole-body health and wellbeing. My facial with Cecelia was superb. She's an extraordinary young woman, with a strong understanding of whole-body health. Cecelia has personally developed a beautiful technique with a truly relaxing touch. My massage was equally enjoyable and very relaxing with Keith, who also brings excellent knowledge of the body and works with great care and sensitivity. It's a must to try the red light therapy bed - 15 minutes in one visit and for the first time in many years I left free of pain - remained for 2 days! Oh, and a huge highlight at the Spa is the best yummy natural food "Cafe at Groton Wellness" with chef Arwin. Dr Nordin the owner and creator of Groton Wellness Center is the best of the best as a biological dentist. After years of seeing numerous dentists for chronic discomfort I finally found someone who not only is highly skilled and at the top of her field, but also a genuinely compassionate human being. She's so good that I've met patients who drive hours from northern Vermont for their care. (Hard to believe, I actually fell asleep during an extraction without any sedative!) Dr. Nordin is top-notch. I've struggled with a condition for most of my life which has caused me a lot of pain in my mouth, so I required the best dentist possible. For over a decade, I've driven an hour and a half each way to see Dr. Nordin for all of my dental care and cleaning, fillings, and even a couple of crowns. She talks straight and does excellent work. In addition, she's always learning and improving way beyond what most dentists do. She's very aware of how dental care can impact the whole body and how health & lifestyle can impact dental health. Overwhelmed with gratitude for Groton Wellness Center and what they've been able to achieve for me. In the 2 months prior to meeting Dr. Nordin, I was in chronic pain, at times nearly unbearable. I'd been seen by multiple dentists from several different practices and non were able to access the issues at hand, nor were they able to offer me any sort of relief or plan for recovery. Dr. Nordin, and her team were quickly able to identify the problem and immediately came up with a plan for treatment. For the first time in months, I was finally feeling relief from the pain. All within days of walking into their office. More so, I've never felt so genuinely cared for by a healthcare provider in my life. I have been enjoying Groton Dental health benefits for over 20 years. Yes, I happily drive 1 hour to go to the dentist! In 2002 I was looking to maximize my health experience and find a dentist to remove all the mercury out of my mouth. I am the girl that shows up at the naturopath and says " I feel good, but I want to feel GREAT! " My naturopath recommended I look into biological dentistry. That led me to Dr Jean Nordin. She worked with me on a treatment plan, that honored the time line of my dental insurance. That means we spent the maximum benefit limit during one calendar year, and deferred work until the next calendar year. Fortunately my fillings were all original, and I was 40, so it was easy to justify replacing them all to insurance. Exciting office technology allowed us to remove all amalgam fillings and replace them with composite. She recommended I remove my root canal since it was sitting on my breast meridian. We discussed this extensively and she had me read a book called the Root Canal Coverup. It became my GO TO bible. I had no idea how oral health was tied to overall health. I agreed to remove one rear molar, that had a filling too large, and not enough tooth to save. Honestly, I was not looking forward to this, and each time I went I was in awe that dentistry could be so stress free, pain free, and patient centric. I didn't feel FEAR before or after treatments. They offered rescue remedy and I gladly accepted. Instead of antibiotics she prescribed vitamin C and bromelain before procedures, and olive leaf extract after. I can only assume my body was clear that these procedures were honoring my temple and it was in my highest and best interest, so my body, mind, and spirit, didn't RESIST. Since I wrote a review regarding Groton Wellness Two things have happened: One ~ Groton Wellness removed the erroneous amount I owed of $289.00 and apologized for having a bill collector send me a letter out of the clear blue when I didn't receive an acupuncture treatments since early 2023 and I had an American Express credit card on file since 2017. I want to thank Caroline the Dental department manager for correcting this mistake. Two ~ Caroline informed me that management and staff did not inform the male at the front desk back in September /October of 2023 to inform patients that my acupuncturist was in China and unsure of her return. Apparently there were 2 males used to take call intake for appointments at that time and Caroline is trying to determine who was telling patients this inaccurate information when the acupuncturist had resigned. Thank You Caroline I hope you find who misinformed patients as I waited two months for my acupuncturist to return and had to find where she was working through an email. I appreciate the honesty of Caroline. Being an systems person I believe in feedback and reviews. I usually write really great 5 star reviews or really bad 1 star reviews. My journey begins.... Backstory: I've had the same dentist for 45 years. 9 amalgams, 4 crowns (most likely with amalgams underneath), and 1 root canal. In September of 2023 I had my initial consultation with Dr Jean Marie Nordin at Groton Wellness in Massachusetts. My initial experience with everyone in the office was great! Dr Nordin was thorough, patient, kind, and knowledgeable. She not only addressed what my visit was for, she also asked questions about me and connected with me as a person, asking if I had children, what I did for work and shared some personal things about herself and her family that made me feel as though I was learning about and connecting with a new friend. I had LOTS of questions and was super nervous about beginning the whole process. She didn't rush me and made me feel like I was her only client that day. I left that day with a game plan. February 19th: My 1st appointment after the initial consultation, I had 3 amalgams replaced and a new cavity filled. I can't say enough good things about the people I've met: from the initial greeting by the receptionist, to the woman who inserted my IV, to Dr Nordin's assistant, and Dr Nordin herself, my experience was wonderful! (The office dog was a nice touch too and makes the office feel like home). The care, compassion, and expertise for a situation that's already stressful enough is greatly appreciated! The following day I woke up and didn't have any discomfort at all. None! No sensitivity. No residual numbing feeling. No pain. Zero discomfort. It was as though I didn't have any dental work completed at all. April 17th: My 2nd appointment I had 4 more amalgams removed with one tooth needing a crown. Same experience as my 1st visit. Everyone was fantastic and I woke up the following day as though I never had any dental work completed the day prior. So happy! Worst experience I have ever had. Implant went horribly wrong, was in a lot of pain. When I called I was told to stop being a baby. Dentist sent in a prescription for prednisone that was the highest dosage a doctor said he had ever seen when I was admitted to the hospital for the infection in my mouth. Lost the tooth behind the implant also. Was afraid to go to another dentist for seven years. Finally found a good one and spent 6k getting everything finally fixed. When my new dentist called to review my records they had no information on me. Was told to sue them but wanted nothing to do with it. I wish I had! read more

This was by far the worst dental practice I've ever experienced. The service is awful and the dental work is just as bad. On top of all that, after a year working through an implant process, my tooth came out only a few months later. They also told me I had several cavities. The new dentist I've been seeing isn't able to find a single one. I read the reviews, which were concerning however I like to judge for myself. Having a holistic approach was important to me however I wish I had followed the advice of the others who came before me. I tried your dental office for 4yrs and you fumbled the ball on almost every visit. I read similar experiences on Yelp and I read your employees complaints/ratings on Glassdoor. I realized it's you, you're the problem Dr. N. There are other dental offices that are orders or magnitude better run establishments than GW. These other well established dental offices have a similar goal/mission as GW but they are run by people that care about their employees and patients. Keep doing you, I've divorced GW. I have been going to Groton Wellness Dentistry for years. The staff is professional and incredibly knowledgeable and kind. During covid when people were locked down and businesses were closed I had a tooth problem and it had to be removed. I drove 3 hrs from VT to have it removed with a bone graft. Dr. Nordin and Dr. Evans were amazing. I live on Nantucket and travel by boat and then drive a couple hours for all my dental work to be done at Groton. When I first investigated dental care at Groton Wellness, I called several times to discuss billing practices. I was told that they would submit the dental claim, but that I would be responsible for payment upfront. I called to check on this before I went for the visit and also when I was there. In all, I asked three times about handling the insurance and not once was I informed that the practice was out of my insurance network. At the visit on Jan. 9, 2024, which was ostensibly for a dental checkup and cleaning, I was told I needed a full set of x-rays, panoramic and bitewing. I agreed although I did not know when I had my last x-rays, and it would have been appropriate for you to request records from my previous dentist prior to recommending x-rays. Nevertheless, I then had a perfectly good cleaning. The dentist then did a checkup. This was a health checkup--I had no issues. During that 15-minute "comprehensive oral exam," the dentist proceeded to outline some 10 procedures. I was then requested to wait an additional 15 minutes for the assistant to write up--and for me to sign-- a treatment plan for procedures costing over $5500, all discretionary. The bill was $916. I received notice from Blue Cross dental insurance that I was not covered for any of the services I received because Groton Wellness is out of network. No one at Groton ever informed me that I was out of network and would therefore not be re-imbursed. I appealed Blue Cross's decision---- but was denied. I never would have gone to Groton Wellness knowing that I was out of network and would not be re-imbursed. Why was I assured that the insurance claim would be filed, knowing that Groton was out of Blue Cross's network? At the very least, I should have been informed, when I enquired, that I needed to check with my insurer. After I received the denial, I called Groton Wellness and spoke to someone in the business office. When I asked why no one had told me that I was possibly out of network, the person could not give me a reason. She said I should have been informed, and in fact, that they are out of network for all insurers. read more

I just completed my 4th visit and I have had a great experience each time. The professionalism and friendliness of the whole team is outstanding. Used Groton Wellness to remove my toxic silver amalgam fillings 5 plus years ago. Along with having more work done on my teeth years after that. Was glad to have found a true biologically safe dentist. When my fillings were initially removed, within 48 hours my digestive track began to work like it did when I was a teenager, and I am over 50. It has continued to work that way ever since. Please take the time to do your research and never let a traditional dentist tell you that mercury fillings or root canals are safe. They definitely are not, and sadly have ruined many lives, causing premature death with many family members, including my mother. I was a patient in 2020 and saw 2 dentists within 3 months. Both of them left the practice. On my first visit , extensive and very costly dental work was advised. I had some work done but after the second dentist moved I went to another practice. A year and a half later I received a notice from a collection company claiming I owed Groton Wellness over $1,000.00 in treatment not covered by insurance. What can I say? Dr. Jean Nordin is a terrific biological dentist. For the past three months and four visits I have been removing/replacing 9 very old amalgam fillings. In the process of doing this work, I needed three crowns and a bridge as well. Recently, during dental cleaning visits, my regular dentist began recommending crowns to save a couple of teeth. Although I wanted to have the work done, I was concerned because I have been seeing a holistic doctor, Dr. Mary Medwar, for the past twelve years and have learned a lot about how inflammation affects the body. I have had issues with inflammation and thyroid and wondered what covering teeth with amalgam fillings would do to my health. How did I find Dr. Nordin? Thanks to my holistic doctor I was referred to her practice, and it has been one of the best things I have ever done for my health. There was a comprehensive exam and a full explanation of what could/should be done to correct years of toxic leakage into my body. I had Candida on my tongue and 9 old fillings were breaking down. I am in my 60s and have been living with these fillings for 40+ years. It was time for me to be healthier. Dr. Jean, Kristie and other members of the team were terrific, providing a detailed plan showing what was to be done along with the cost of each visit. Dental insurance was billed after each visit and would cover a portion of the cost. I admit that before the first visit I was apprehensive, not knowing how the mercury was going to be removed and how long it would take, but I looked at the situation positively and was pleasantly surprised. During each visit, I was made to feel as comfortable and calm as possible, including a warm neck wrap. Dr. Jean and Kristie explained everything that would happen during the visit. During the actual mercury removal, all protections were put in place including providing charcoal and Chlorella, protecting my face, and suctioning particles out of the air. Dr. Jean and her assistant also protected their faces and hands. A warm blanket and a bit of oxygen really helped keep me calm. The procedure was completed as quickly as possible. Dr. Jean always administered the right amount of nova cane, and I experienced minimal swelling, pain and bruising once after one visit where a crown needed to be prepped in a corner of my mouth. I also appreciated that she was meticulous about getting the appliance to fit and that the bite was correct. A couple of visits were around the 3-hour mark, but the staff were great and offered a meal ticket to the Groton Wellness Café (many healthy choices) and that was greatly appreciated. I continued to detox throughout the process with my holistic doctor. Although I am a week out from my last visit, my mouth feels cleaner, I am just about through with detox, and I feel more energetic and healthier overall. Right now, I am going to go back to my regular dentist for cleanings, as Groton, MA is a bit of a drive, however if at some point if I feel that I should go there for dental cleanings, I will do that. This review is for; Madhu Katta, DMD, Biological Dentist, Airway & Breathing, Sleep Solutions. Absolutely second to none. Before going to Dr. Katta I had a long; 50+ years of 'drill'm and fill'm dentistry'. It left me with a mouth full of mercury, numerous health problems, grinding teeth, and daily headaches. I did my homework and research and found Dr. Katta. She is kind and careful. She has a holistic approach to dentistry which is extremely rare, and I suspect is not the case with other 'new' dentists at Groton Wellness. Re: Mercury filling removal. One week after having several removed, my sleep and digestion normalized, headaches were gone AND I went to my primary care Dr. who took my blood pressure and it was 128/78. Dr. Nordin has changed my life in two visits. The first visit was the most in-depth examination of my mouth that I have ever had. She provided reasons for why I was having the issues that I am having. She provided recommendations that I put into place that were life changing in a matter of 10 days. On my second visit, I had the majority of the mercury removed from my mouth. Dr. Nordin and her staff made me physically comfortable and mentally comfortable. The process was explained very well and all of my questions were answered completely. My appointment was long because it was extremely thorough. Nothing was rushed and it was an overall great experience. I was shocked at how great I felt when I was leaving the office. I had mixed metals in my mouth, mercury and gold. No one had ever explained to me that I essentially had a battery in mouth. Well, the battery is gone and I have an overwhelming sense of calm that is difficult to explain. I had no idea why I had spent the majority of my adult life clenching and night grinding. No one was willing to help me find the root cause. It has only been a few days since my mercury removal, but my body and mind feel so much better. I didn't realize I carried my anxiety in my mouth and now I'm free of it. Went in for a routine dental cleaning knowing that friends have warned me about their reputation and to stay away from this practice.. but I figured, I'll just go for a cleaning and look for another dentist soon. However, their newest dental hygienist cracked my tooth during the cleaning. When I rinsed I felt something come out into the basin but I thought maybe it's just plaque. Then she went out of the room for a private consultation with the dentist and came back in and made it seem as though I had done this myself previous to my visit there. I will not be returning for dental care. And I feel it's useless to bring it up with them because I'm sure I will meet with opposition and denial.. who has time for that. All this place cares about is you're checkbook being open. I had Delta Dental of MA Ins and they tried charging me for Federal Insurance on my 1st visit which was outrageously expensive. Then had my amalgam removal only to have some of the teeth need to be done over again due to hot and cold sensations along with pain days after the procedure. Now one of the teeth they worked on has been harboring bacteria since the tooth was drilled into so many times and I have an awful infection and need the tooth extracted. Wait there is more....after a routine cleaning I ended up 72 hours later with Viral Meningitis. Have permanent neck snapping and popping ever since. Not going back here ever again. read more

This place doesn't care about their patients - they are greedy and all they want is money. I had such high hopes because the first NP (Sarah) I worked with was amazing, she actually cared and wanted to help me get better. When she left, I was transferred to another doctor, and that's where my review comes from. I was told I would have an appointment when my results from my testing came back. I get to the office and they told me my results weren't in, but they would still talk to me. My whole appointment consisted of being told my anxiety is my only problem and that's the cause of all my issues. The doctor clearly didn't look at my chart/notes that Sarah had left because he didn't know things that were in my notes. So then I paid for my appointment just to be told it's anxiety (which I'm sorry I'm not a doctor but even I know it's not just anxiety causing me the issues that I'm having - he even told me my joint/back pain is from anxiety). He then sold me a bunch of supplements - $400 later. The supplements gave me bad side effects and they wouldn't take them back because they were already been opened. Then I was informed that my test results have been in their hands since July 10th and our appointment was the 19th... so clearly it wasn't checked. I reached out for them to email me the results and go over them with me, and they responded by saying I need an appointment. I said I have already poured so much money I want a call instead. The doctor is then on vacation for 3 weeks completely unavailable. I said so now I'm left with no support, so he agreed to do a call with me. He stopped emailing me and never called me when he said he would. Then again said I can make an appointment when he's back... I sent an email stating that clearly they do not care about their patients or helping them and I haven't heard from them since. If this was my practice I would've called the patient right away to go over their results with them knowing they have been waiting months and have been shifted doctors and clearly have been struggling for years and want answers. I will never reccomend this practice to anyone because no one deserves to get scammed and not cared about from people that are supposed to help you. read more

If only there was a way to leave -1 stars, and get back the time i have wasted here. This business is AWFUL to there employees as i have witnessed this first hand just in the waiting room. Brought my sister to a routine cleaning last week and sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes. Within those 45 minutes, witnessed their Secretary get POINTED AT AND SCREAMED AT INCHES FROM HER FACE. Oh the anger i had to witness such unprofessional conduct. There are many ways that situation could have paned out and that wasn't one of them. There should definitely be an investigation into this places practice or a rehiring of this places dentists. Once my sister was brought in, we waited another HALF AN HOUR for the dentist herself. My sister says she was very tough on her teeth and from my account not to skilled when dealing with younger kids.I never leave reviews so the fact that i jumped at the idea of leaving one says something. NEVER INVEST IN THIS DENTAL PRACTICE! WONT GET YOUR INSURANCE CLAIMS PIT IN TILL MONTHS LATER AND WILL WASTE COUNTLESS AMOUNTS OF MONEY AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT. I would rather watch a youtube video and get the supplies needed to do a cleaning myself. read more

I have never had dental anxiety but after dealing with Dr. Nordin, I would never recommend this practice. She literally was the rudest person to me after I had an implant that cracked after two months and not only would she not back her product, she made it feel like it was my fault. She would not see me unless i signed a release prior to replacing it and if it happens again, it is my responsibility and I have to pay for the implant again. I was told by several hygienists from her own practice that it could have had a crack in it from the lab or when they put it in they could have turned it too tight and that may created a crack. Dr. Solomon who actually did the implant and the rest of the staff were fantastic but to be treated they way Dr. Nordin treated me, I would clearly stay away. The funny thing is, I was furious when I left which was months ago and i was going to post a review then but i decided to cook down but the practice kept calling me the last few days to go in for a cleaning and when I called back in, her own staff agreed with me and completely understood when I explained what happened to me. She suggested I write the yelp and to hear they have lost some of their amazing staff is no surprise. She said it was not surprising that it was Dr. Nordin. She really should RE-evaluate the way she conducts her business as well the way she treats people because it is just wrong! read more

I researched dentistry for years before converting to biological dentistry. My advice is always test your dentist's hands for tremors! My last dentist always cupped his hands together but I observed the tremor one day. He also didn't use a rubber dam when he repaired a cracked silver filling for me. The mercury went through my body causing neurological issues and joint arthritis. He also overfilled my tooth which caused grinding while sleeping AND he tried to give me an expensive crown on a failed root canaled tooth that was bothering me! This facility has state-of-the-art advanced dentistry. Everything the dentists do is supported by proven scientific evidence. It is holistic dentistry at its best. I can not say enough good things about the profession of holistic dentistry. Just try to understand the free consultation process before you head over there because they offer services that I knew nothing about. Pick up a book by Hal Huggins and look up Dr. Blanche Grube before you head over there. You deserve to have informed consent not another expensive and infected root canal. read more

He clearly knew his stuff, answering well my many questions, understood my financial concerns and discussed alternatives where available, was fast and effective with the exam and just.. you know, was great! Any dentist that can allow me to walk away unshaken is amazing anyway. read more

I have had difficulty finding good holistic healthcare practitioners in Boston. After I relocated here this winter, I became disillusioned with the local healing community. One doctor I saw was money-hungry and inattentive. Another was set in his ways and wouldn't listen to feedback regarding what works for my body. I was disappointed and nervous that the same would hold true for dental care. Thankfully that was not the case at Groton Wellness! After researching dental practices in the Boston area, I chose Groton Wellness because of their knowledgable staff (even the office manager was familiar with the MTFHR genetic mutation!) and emphasis on whole health. The fact that it was over an hour away from Somerville didn't matter - it is worth the hassle. I am one of the lucky few who has never had a bad dental experience. Every dental practice I've frequented has been decent. However, the quality of care I receive at Groton blows all of those previous experiences away. My dentist, Dr. Katta, is delightful, thorough and intelligent. By following her advice I was able to stop gum recession in its tracks, regrow a bit of tissue and prevent further damage. Plus, she was the first dentist to ever discuss nutrition, genetics and gut health with me during an appointment. Natalie, a hygienist who cleaned my teeth, is an absolute pleasure. I felt like I was seeing an old friend, not having my teeth cleaned. If you are on the fence about becoming a patient at Groton, I urge you to give them a try. Although some of their services may not be covered by insurance (i.e. a custom mouthguard), the quality of care and attention you receive are worth the extra cost. Plus, if you are in the same boat as me and are having trouble finding decent medical care in the area, they are a good resource and can put you in touch with people who are TRUE healers. read more

I visited the spa this past weekend with my cousin. We both had the 1 hour massage, clay bath and facial package. This place is great, the staff is professional and you feel welcomed here. The decor and facilities are exeptional. I defeinitely left feeling relazed and happy. I get massages every other week so for me to rate this well is because they deserve it. read more
