Consistently great cut and experience in 4+ years going here. Fair price, very comfortable atmosphere and have never had any issues. 10/10 would recommend. read more

Despite the decent haircuts and the nice space, the experience is ruined by the owner's snide attitude and derisive demeanor. The owner once scolded me for trying to open his shop's door (always locked) and sneered at me for not reading his 'do not open' sign before attempting to walk in. They are not flexible at all and will not go out of their way for ANYTHING to help a customer have a better experience. They ask you to arrive 15 min early to your appointment or you lose it. They will not try to honor a 2-week touchup if you try to schedule even a day after. They will refuse to schedule a specific time if they think you are not going to make it on time (I live blocks away). I have not felt welcome in here a single time I've been and have consistently left with a bitter taste. Will not be going back. read more

Great service, great staff, fresh cuts. Been coming here since they opened a few years ago, can't recommend Hal and the rest of the staff enough. read more

Love these guys! Hal gives the best skin tight fade in Chicagoland! And the free touch up within 2 weeks of your cut is a very nice touch! Highly recommended! read more

I'd like to start off by stating that I really don't like writing poor reviews but in this case I feel that it's my duty to report to the public after my horrible experience at this spot. Owner is extremely aggressive, rude, mean and dishonest. He has no common decency. I didn't feel welcome at all, and he made it seem like he was doing me a favor or that I was lucky to be there. I definitely don't recommend this place and I will never come back. Take your money somewhere else unless you want an awful experience. read more

Their website advertises a basic men's cut, but when you book online, you can't actually select it. Instead you have to book a more expensive "package." In retrospect, that may have been a good indicator about how they think of addressing their customers needs. The space itself looks great, and it's in a great location, but the customer service really ruined it for me. I was 10 minutes late to an appointment. I wouldn't have been if I could have helped it. But sometimes things happen that are outside of my control. I walked in, was not greeted, and then waited briefly at the front desk for the two staff to finish their task. I said "I'm late for my appointment," and the first response I got was a single sentence, "It's too late." They explained that since they start appointments ten minutes early, they can only accept people who are up to 5 minutes late. (I don't understand it, but that's what they said.) I understand that being late to an appointment means you may miss it. But there's a huge difference between "we can't help you because we're fully booked," and "we won't help you because you were late." What I got was the latter. I made my best effort to get there in time, I literally ran since that was faster than the abnormally slow bus I was on. In that situation, all I really expected was for them to make some effort. And if they can't help, I'd have appreciated some expression of regret that they can't help. That's a good way to signal to a customer that you value them. Not doing it is a clear signal, too. I'm really disappointed in this. I was looking forward to finding a new barbershop for my family in our new neighborhood, and was excited to come here. But after this experience -- a website that forces upsells on you, and staff that don't care whether they help or not -- I don't think this will be the place for me. read more

Went in for a beard trim (about 2-3" past my chin). Place looks great, Corey was very nice and engaging. However, he kept asking me questions while trimming my beard. I tried to time it right to talk when he wasn't trimming, but some times he went at it while my mouth and beard was moving. Didn't use a comb after the first 5-6 passes at the beginning and stuck with clippers afterward. Looked decent enough when I left without my contacts in (had to take them out earlier, couldn't replace, slight prescription of -1.00 so details get blurry past 4 feet). After a shower that night and blow drying and combing it out, I found I had to do quite a bit of touch up trimming and that my left cheek is noticeably thinner than my right and due to cut length or hair pattern, you can seen my skin through my beard on my left side and not my right. Hairline on both cheeks aren't as even or straight as I've had in the past. I can't speak to the quality of haircuts, but I question his experience with beards. In trims I've had in the past, combs were used much more throughout to get a better idea of hair length, pattern, and which direction it starts curling and at what length. This was more combing my beard out a bit and using clippers like hedge trimmers. Not the end of the world, but I've experienced better" for 2 stars is accurate. read more

Just like a McMuffin after a late night out...I'M LOVING IT! ! Cory is the best stylist..I come in messed up and always walk out cleaned up-and feelin' mighty fine. I love the relaxed atmosphere of the lounge in front, if you need to wait. Great proximity to the Ashland / Division Blue Line and awesome neighborhood. read more

Despite living in 5 different apartments across the city I've always trusted my haircuts with Corey. Dude knows what he's doing. Corey's new shop is top notch. He's created a very cool, comfortable space to hang out and get cleaned up. Easy parking. Go do yourself a favor and book an appointment here! read more

Whomever was working the phones was super antagonistic. It's rare to get that poor of service.

Looooooooove the new location. Elegant powerful artistic but still warm and welcoming place coupled with the best stylist this side of the Mississippi. Wouldn't trade Corey for all the tea in China. read more

Booked an appointment online, site showed it was confirmed. Showed up to my appointment on time but was told the website screws up if the and it booked me 30 min earlier so I missed my appointment. Wtf?! Huge inconvenience for me and won't be booking again. read more

Corey is the best!! Love the engagement and vibe at this place. The reviews tell the story, you're made feel welcome and comfortable. They do great haircuts I've gone to a few different ladies and Adam for haircuts and beard trims. Corey has also been my guy when it comes to back and body waxing if you're into that type of thing he really does a killer job. Overall I won't ever go anywhere else even my lady friends who cut hair I bring my business to Corey and the grooming lounge. read more

Awesome place, great location and Nicole rocks!! So glad Winchester barbers found a new home!!

I came here months after a terrible experience with another barber in the area. Everyone here is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about providing a great haircut. Liz cut my hair after asking particular questions about my preferences and executed it perfectly while giving me tips for styling and maintenance. It seems as if they have an all-star team of barbers selected from all their local competition. Not only did I walk away with probably the best haircut I've had since high school, but I am going back in two weeks for a FREE CLEAN UP. I could not recommend this place more highly. GREAT EXPERIENCE! read more

Thank you, Corey! So happy to see you with your own shop that is so cool and comfortable. Great location near the Blue Line or with easy parking on Milwaukee. My wife said that I have never looked so good. Excited to keep coming back. read more

This place is amazing. Super reasonably priced. Hal is the man and does an amazing job - don't let anyone else cut my hair. Highly recommend. read more

Corey and the rest of the staff are great. Excellent online booking, fun environment, and a great cut.

Corey has been cutting my hair for 4-5 years. Hal has pitched in a few times too. Both are solid barbers/stylists. I would highly recommend.

I've been coming here since they opened, and before when some of this crew worked at a prior establishment. Can't say enough good things. I've always been extremely satisfied with my cuts, with the conversation, and with the total experience. The physical digs are also very cool, stylish but comfortable. Highly recommend. read more

Great vibe and well decorated place. I've been going to Corey for awhile now. He gives a great cut and will have you feeling good walking out the door. Highly recommend. read more

I've been getting my haircut with Corey for over four years and was excited when he started his own shop. The environment is very professional but relaxing after a long day. Look forward to going in again soon. read more

This place is incredible! The decor is so cool and comforting, and the people are friendly and very welcoming. You can tell how much they like working there and with each other. I've been going to Nicole since for years (before this new shop), and as someone who is very particular about who cuts their hair, I'd recommend her without reservation! Moving soon, and will definitely miss going here and wish I could have enjoyed this location a little longer. read more

Corey is the absolute best. I've never written a yelp review before, and I'm doing it for him because he's that great. His new shop is spacious, and the atmosphere is very welcoming. Location of his new spot is convenient and very accessible for people in west town/wicker. Highly recommend this place. read more

Hal is the man. Not only great haircuts but great conversation. Genuinely great dude. Won't go anywhere else.

Love this place! I had never gone to the same stylist more than once until I met Corey...now I've been going to him for 2 years: he did a great job the first time & has kept the streak alive. Dig the new space too, very stylish but with a relaxing vibe. Never thought I'd say it but: let this bald man cut your hair! read more

Corey and Hal have always provided great haircuts and conversations. I appreciate the time and care taken to make sure I'm happy with my cut. The new place has a great feel and cool vibe. 2 thumbs up!! read more

The most elegant Barbershop you will find in all of Wicker Park! The owner is definitely looking out for the best interests of the clients first! I highly recommend giving this place a try! You won't go wrong here. In addition, the best thing of all is that you get a free 2 week cleanup after every cut. Thus, keeping you looking suave and at your best every single day. read more

Just tried this place out for the first time today and was very impressed. After doing some hardcore creeping I found that my stylist moved here (her name is Liz, you should ask for her). I was greeted by a gentleman, which I later found out was the owner, as soon as I walked in and was offered water or beer which is a nice touch. Premium haircuts are cheaper here than anywhere else. I look forward to coming back. Nice spot! read more

Beautiful space. Great decor. Laid back stylists and very cost friendly for the city of Chicago. Most importantly, every stylist/ barber is top notch in terms of cuts and fades. Can't go wrong with anyone but my boy Hal has been consistent cut after cut. Owner is super friendly and runs a very nice, clean shop. Hands down the best spot in town. read more

Haircut was mediocre and he jacked my beard to shreds. Uneven cut and lopped most of it off. Disappointed cause it was an expensive visit. Corey was very nice but rushed through my visit. I'd try another barber but would stay clear of Corey read more

The stylists are great. My only complaint is the owner. I found him to be rude and arrogant. I know I am not the only customer that feels this way. I feel bad for the stylists that lose clients only because of the owner. read more

This place was great and very clean! I came from out of town and needed something quick. They were able to take me as a walk in and were very nice! Would go back again, anytime I'm back in town! read more

If you are a busy professional, you are bound to have a bad experience. The owner, Corey, is zealous about clients being on time and I have seen him passive aggressively call people out on it. I was running 5 minutes late because the blue line was stuck in Clark/Lake and I called to notify this. The lady that answered the phone told me that it would be best to reschedule because it was the last appointment for the day. I reluctantly agreed because I was traveling for work the next evening. I figured I could come in the next day. When I arrived home, I was not able to book an appointment online because my account had been disabled. I had an email from the owner stating that I had to pay a fine since I had canceled my booking. Note, I had made the appointment at 6:45pm, same day, for 7:30pm - 45 minutes out. I replied explaining the full circumstances above to the owner but I never received a response. As a result of the owner's actions, I had to scramble to find a new place to get a cut before important work meetings. The owner has a pet peeve which makes him unreasonable. For a professional, it's possible a meeting will run a couple of minutes over or the L will be running behind so you are bound to have some form of the above. I would stay clear of Grooming Lounge. read more

This is exactly the type of place Wicker Park needed, and all of Chicago for that matter. A clean, modern, and elegant space, but one that is comfortable and inviting. Corey is not only a highly skilled barber who will not disappoint, but also one of the nicest and funniest people you will meet. You will enjoy your time at the shop and you will leave with a haircut that will impress. I wouldn't go to anyone else in Chicago, and couldn't recommend Corey and the Grooming Lounge enough! read more

Hal has cut my hair for 3 years now and does a great job each time. Ends it with a straight shave on the neck. Free 2 week cleanup is great, too. Would recommend to anyone. Relaxed atmosphere in the shop, very comfortable. read more

This place is great ! I walked in to find a very nice modern place. I could have sat in waiting area for a while it was so nice but I didn't have to because they were running right on time. The staff was super friendly and haircut I got from Corey was perfect and exactly what I wanted. Plus it was at very reasonable price. I will be going back for all my future cuts! I highly recommend The Grooming Lounge! read more

What an amazing place! Though the sign says gentlemen, this lady felt right at home. Nicole is essentially magic, and I've been getting stopped for hair compliments ever since my appointment.
