Canceling a shuttle because of weather hours before your scheduled flight is not a good thing.

I have been using Groome for years now and have never encountered an issue and hopefully never will. Super professional staff and have always been able to accommodate me in every way. My most recent trip with them was in March and Samantha Elkins was my driver to and coincidentally from my destination. She was super kind and respectful. Took me way longer than it should have to leave this company a review, but thank you for providing such a convenient service to us! Groome office to Atlanta Airport the driver looks at me and says very unprofessional and abrasive "you snoring is disturbing my driving?" as if his excessive drinking Monsters and wiggling all over the road isn't disturbing my sleep. Down right scam, there's no bus. I missed my flight. Have been waiting for an hour. No phone service, nothing.

Prior to 12/27, I've had only good things to say about Groome transportation (I've been a customer since 2018) but my return trip from ATL to the Leeds office changed my view of the company and their poor luggage policy. We were extremely delayed due to traffic on the return trip (2 stops prior to the Leeds office). The driver was in a rush while unloading three suitcases for me and my family but when he sat my suitcase on the curb, too much force was exerted while pulling up the handle on my suitcase causing it to completely break apart from the metal rods along with one of the rods falling to the ground (it was intact at the ATL airport). The driver abruptly left without an apology or providing any steps to take to address the situation. My mother discussed the incident to the desk agent, left my contact information as requested and was informed that a manager would call me the following day - no call. I called the Leeds office on 12/30 but managers do not work on weekends and was instructed to call back on 1/2. I called back but again, they were in a meeting, I left my contact information as instructed - no return call. I called again on 1/3, I was told the managers were preparing for a meeting but I then asked for the contact information for any manager and was promptly forwarded to the Ops Manager. After conversing with the Leeds Ops Manager who informed me of the "not their fault for destroyed luggage" policy but would speak with his manager about the situation. I will say the local Ops Manager offered me and my family roundtrip vouchers but they don't travel enough to use them and I preferred to file a claim for my broken suitcase. I was asked to provide pictures and proof of purchase for the suitcase (I did). I emailed for an update on 1/11 - nothing; I emailed again on 1/18 and called - I was told there would be a discussion about my issue that afternoon. On 1/19, I received an email declining to replace my suitcase or any form of compensation citing their luggage policy. I understand the policy is have ZERO accountability for damaged luggage but my suitcase was broken as a result of carelessness, not intentional but carelessness nonetheless. I am deeply disappointed to know that a national, not local company will not assume responsibility for destruction executed by an employee in front of a customer. I recently decided to give Groome a try on the recommendations of some trusted friends. They've all had great experiences with Groome, but I did not. Let me start by saying that Groome was there to pick us up at the designated time to take us to the airport. I was excited about that and was really hopeful that I'd have a great experience. The ride to Atlanta was great...until we got about 10 minutes to the airport. We got a flat fire and had to pull over. No problem, right? Things like this can happen anytime. I didn't blame Groome (or our driver) at all. (Our driver was great, by the way. My issue was with the backup plan. The driver contacted the office and was told that they were sending another van to pick us up...but the van was coming from Alabama and would take over an hour to get to us!! (We were literally 10 minutes from the airport). The driver let us know that if we were concerned about getting to our flight on time, we would need to arrange other transportation, which we did. (At our own expense.) Groome offered us a refund, but I wish they had done more for others who didn't have another option (we shared our Uber with an older lady on the van who didn't know how to call a rideshare.) On the return flight, our luggage was late getting to the claim area, which made us miss our scheduled Groome. I wasn't even upset about that because again...not their fault. There was not availability for another Groome until 3 hours later. They informed me that they couldn't refund my money and I, again, ended up securing transportation back home at my own expense. Finding the location was a little difficult at night because the building itself did not have its lights on. The parking was very convenient and Seemed to be lit well. The drivers I had going and coming from Atlanta were great. The shuttle was comfortable. It went smooth. I would definitely use the shuttle again in the future. read more

At the last minute on June 11, 2024 I realized I needed to take the Groome shuttle from ATL to BHM. We left exactly on time and even arrived at BHM early due to the fact that the all passengers' destinations were BHM. Our driver was so kind and courteous as well as a safe driver. He said he had been with the company longer than all the other drivers from the Birmingham location. I will most definitely use Groome Transportation again as needed! Before moving back to Atlanta, I used Groome to get me from Birmingham to the Atlanta Airport a few times. The shuttles are always clean and the drivers are very friendly and accommodating. It's great to leave my car behind and let someone else do the driving. One time, I arrived to Atlanta and it was raining so hard, I was happy I had not driven my self. I felt completely safe at the hands of the Groome driver. read more

Worst customer service. Booked a shuttle for 6am. I arrived at 5:50 am via Uber so the time stamp is proof of time of arrival. As I arrived no van was in sight being loaded nor was any other passengers around. I figured bus was running late, as I ask the non attentive desk agent she says the shuttle left at 6am but it was impossible because I had been there well before. She was extremely rude, answering the phone handling problems for "calls" at 5:30 am meanwhile I'm in front of her with unsolved problems. My flight is scheduled for 11:30 am , she advises me I'll get to the airport at 10:30, which is no time to make a flight. I've frequently used Groome, after today I will never trust their scheduling again. I've had to arrange to drive to Atlanta at 6 am because the shuttle left well before it was supposed to without even contacting any passengers. My experience with Groome Transportation was a really bad experience. Coming back into the states and having to go though customs was the worse experience ever. GROOME did not schedule the come back pick up time right. They did not set enough time to get to customs, go though customs, nor have time to get your luggage from baggage calm , and get outside in 45 minutes, it just was not enough time to do all that. The grooms customer service rep was not helpful, was very rude, and did not show any concern. He was inconsiderated of all situation. The customer service guy hung up in our face several times and tried not to put us on the next van that was coming. We traveled in a group of 3 When the van finally did arrive, he intentionally only put two people on the van. He only had 2 spot on the Van on the second shuttle that came after our original shuttle. Doing this whole experience we called and talked to a live person. He was not accommodating atvall and did not care. The fact that we had to wait for hours for another shuttle was ridiculous and unacceptable. Groome's transportation service was the worse ever and I will not recommend this transportation shuttle service to anyone. The fact that we notified customers service in reasonable time and no accommodation were made and this was a PAID SEEVICE NOT FREE ONE, THAT IT'S NOT ACCEPTABLE. read more

THIS SERVICE IS NOT RELIABLE and left me stranded despite a confirmed booking. I have never been treated so badly by any business, period. I made a reservation with Groome for a shuttle from the Birmingham airport to the Atlanta airport, for December 26, 2022. I had multiple confirmation emails for my reservation, a confirmation number, and I even spoke to a Groome rep on the phone, who also confirmed my reservation. The information provided to Groome included that I had a flight to catch in Atlanta that evening. The 12:30 pm shuttle would get me to Atlanta in time for my 6:20 pm flight. When I arrived at the Birmingham airport and tried to get on the shuttle, Groome told me they would not allow me on the shuttle. I showed my reservation confirmation and was told that for some reason, I was not on the manifest. The Groome driver tried to help me and called his supervisors, who insisted that I could not board the shuttle. They did not even let me ride to the Groome office to speak with them in person to figure out a solution. They simply left me stranded at the Birmingham Airport, knowing full well that I would risk missing my flight in Atlanta. I was told a manager would be calling me, and the manager never called me. Instead, I received an email through Groome's system, canceling my reservation. I explained to them that I had to make my flight to get back to work, and that this would financially harm me. I attempted to make contact with someone at Groome to help me several times, and no manager agreed to speak with me. They refused to help me find a solution to get to Atlanta. Groome will be hearing from me for the damages caused as a result of this incident. No one deserves to be treated this way EVER, but especially the day after Christmas when it was particularly difficult to find alternate travel solutions. read more

Horrible. It was a mess. If you are a college student just pay for an Uber. My ride was delayed 40 minutes and we were even later because the driver needed gas and propane and we took another 40 minute detour to do so. The van smelt like wet dog and then my next ride like axe body spray to cover it up. You pay for what you get. One of the drivers was very nice but I felt very unsafe, we were swerving into the next lane and driving far under the highway speed limit. read more

Once, again, I am very disappointed with the service. We have used this service several times and they are continually late for pick up. This time they left my son stranded at the Birmingham airport. The person that I spoke with in the office was giving me the run around and practically hung up on me. I will never use this service again. Good experience overall from Birmingham to ATL; after some other reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect, but it seemed like they were short on drivers when COVID was more prevalent. Shuttle was easy to find at Birmingham airport, and driver waited a few minutes for a passenger who was running a few minutes behind and had talked with dispatch that they were on their way. Driver was friendly and kept us updated, and his ETA at ATL was correct. Ride was very smooth; I slept almost the whole way. read more

If possible, I would give zero stars, unfortunately. We paid extra money for a private shuttle, however, had to pick up people on the way to ATL from BHM due to their Groome driver BEING INTOXICATED while driving. Our driver continued to argue with us over where in the ATL airport to drop us off at, and was insistent on wanting to leave us at the domestic terminal, when our flight was international. We clarified international and private when booking. The driver was aggressive with his driving, tailgating semis, and cutting off other drivers. If the story couldn't possibly get worse, the shuttle never arrived at the ATL airport to pick us up after our arrival back to the states to take us back to birmingham. We ended up having to order an Uber to drive us from the ATL airport to BHM. read more

Everything was great. I had been traveling for about 5 1/2 hours before my shuttle arrived at its scheduled time which was 11:30. The driver actually arrived early and checked me in. He took my bags and put them on the van and escorted me onto the bus. He advised we would not be leaving for a few minutes so to sit tight. I must admit I was EXTREMELY nervous because it was pouring down in Birmingham which is where we were headed. The driver was a younger guy but sadly I don't remember his name. Once we were ready to leave he told us Good-morning and informed us of the rules as well as letting us know he would stop if we needed to use the restroom. Once the rain started my anxiety kicked in however, he drove perfectly. I felt really safe the entire way. He kept us updated with an ETA throughout the duration of the trip. Once we arrived he unloaded our bags and made sure we were in a safe location before he left. YOU CAN TIP YOUR DRIVER BTW. He definitely received one from me! read more

TOP NOTCH!!! AMAZING!!!!! Dealing with April in their Birmingham, AL office is the best! She helped me with my daughter's boyfriend getting him from ATL to BHM or Tuscaloosa after a very long day of delays! She was so helpful and was doing everything she could so he could get to BHM even was going to hold a shuttle for a few extra minutes so he could make it. Unfortunately he ended up on the very last shuttle for the night, but when I called back quite a few hours later she was still there and made sure he was going to make it. A++++++ service. I will definitely use them again and recommend Groome to parents of the University of Alabama. Rates were very reasonable. He said the driver was amazing. NEVER, EVER AGAIN will I let this poorly run transportation company take advantage of my daughter again. Two different occasions they failed to get my daughter to the airport. The first incident was Dec '19, they were 2+ hours late, driver stoped for pizza on the way to airport. By the time my daughter got to the airport it was too late to check her luggage. She missed her flight. Today they were supposed to pick her up at 12:40pm in front of her dorm, we called 24hrs in advance to confirm only to be told her shuttle is cancelled and they just didn't have a chance to call her. This company is terrible! They canceled a dozen shuttles to Atlanta airport from University of Alabama. They are one of very few companies doing this route so they really put kids and families in a very difficult situation. My son was lucky to hear from a friend taking the same shuttle because the friend got a call about the cancellation. We have not received a call at all. I was assured over the phone that the shuttle was running after it had actually been canceled. I will NEVER use or recommend Groome again. read more

If I could leave zero stars, I would. I booked 3 round trip rides from Birmingham, AL to Atlanta, GA direct via phone. I supplied our flight information (Atlanta to England) and was supplied our pick up and drop off times by the customer service representative. Our pick up time was late picking us up, but we ultimately arrived to the airport on time in Atlanta. We flew home on Jan 4 ( 2 young daughters and myself). Our plane landed, we collected our luggage, which took some time, went through customs, walked out to the ground transportation area and took the shuttle to the domestic terminal per our Groome text instructions. While on the shuttle to the domestic terminal I received a call from someone at Groome, I was advised the shuttle was waiting for us, I let the representative know we were on the airport shuttle and should arrive any minute. Upon arrival Less than 5 minutes later, we walked shuttle to shuttle searching for ours. Not able to find it I located a gentleman with a clip board to inquire, he shared with me he was only there to assist military personnel in locating their shuttles. No one else was around so I phoned the same number from the call I received at 5:29 and received a voice mail stating the mail box was full. I located the Groome main phone number and spoke with dispatch regarding our shuttle location and was informed it left us and the next available space wouldn't be until 11 PM (6 hours later). With 2 young kids who had already been awake since yesterday, I knew we would not make it another 6 hours before complete exhaustion set in. I asked the representative to cancel the reservation and provide a refund. She said that was something she didn't handle so I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told no one was available until Monday so I left my number for the supervisor to phone. Ultimately, I rented a car and drove the 2 plus hours back to Birmingham. I am in complete disbelief my family and I were abandoned at the airport knowing we were to arrive at the bus within minutes. I relied on Groome to choose the appropriate pick up times and felt comforted that should our flight be late, Groome's "36 Shuttles to Atlanta Daily" would get us home in a reasonable amount of time. It has been over 2 weeks and Groome has not returned my call or emails in regards to our $127 refund we are seeking. I lived in Denver and LA for many years using shuttles to and from the airport, never have I experienced this sort of uncaring service. I cannot and would not recommend Groome to my worse enemy. I would not trust their services or their ability to get me where I need to go in a reasonable amount of time. read more

I never like writing bad reviews but this company definitely deserves so. This past weekend I waited over 3 hours for my shuttle to arrive. Once I finally got on the shuttle we were never informed that this was not the final bus. After a 30 min detour we arrived at their office to our suprise, and then were told to switch busses. At this point it was 4 hours past my original drop off time. The workers were rude and never tried to explain the situation. I would never use this company again, and certainly don't recommend you use this company's services. read more

Taken Groome several times, some drivers are great but the last several trips we have had drivers who want to go over the speed limit like A LOT and throw you all over the Van. very satisfied. Groome provides multiple trips daily to and from Birmingham- usually 1 trip an hour. Very easy to pick up Groome, right by the Delta baggage claim. Driver was very friendly. I was scheduled to leave for the Birmingham airport from Tuscaloosa at 930. Their schedule asked me to meet them outside my hotel at 915. At 930 I called nd asked where the driver was. They told me they were putting air in the tires and would be at the hotel soon. 30 minutes later the driver was nowhere to be seen. I called again and asked where they were. After being put on hold for 10 minutes they finally answered and said the driver would be there soon. I asked where they were, and they said they didn't know, maybe they were stuck in traffic. I eventually had to take an uber to the local enterprise and rent a car to make it to the airport. Company is trash. Telephone assistants were trash. 0/10 would not recommend read more

We recently used Groome for a round trip shuttle from Birmingham to the Atlanta airport. The trip over was nice. We had a delightful friendly driver who introduced himself and offered restroom stops multiple times during the 2 1/2 hour trip. The only complaint we had was that he dropped us off a good distance from our check-in counter but this may not have been under his control as the Atlanta airport is under perpetual construction. The return trip was another story. We were to be at the pickup point at 8:15 PM. Atlanta's luggage system was not functioning correctly so we were pushed for time.However after lugging our luggage through the Marta station,past the local pick-up areas, past the dog park, we finally arrived at 8:10. Again lots of construction. The bus arrived at 8:20. The driver appeared to be maybe 25 years old and was not friendly at all. He said exactly three words to me the entire evening--"what's your name" as he checked his list. The bus was full (10) and it was a bus designed for local shuttles with uncomfortable seats and little foot room. Ten tired, hot, sweaty travelers piled on the bus ready to go home. The driver closed the door and then DISAPPEARED leaving us essentially trapped on the bus. The engine was running but the A/C was inadequate to keep the bus cool when not moving. It's quite warm in Atlanta even at 8PM in August especially on a packed bus. After 20 minutes I attempted to exit the bus only to find that the doors could not be opened from the inside--or at least no one knew how (no difference). I was getting my cell phone out to call the police (it was now quite warm in the bus) when the driver and his female companion ambled up with drink and sandwiches. Without a word of explanation he pulled away from the curb only to have a worker come running after him yelling that he had not closed the door to the luggage compartment! He then entered Atlanta traffic(around the world's busiest airport) while finishing his sandwich. Surely this violates some DOT regulation. I cinched my sea belt a little tighter and hoped to make it to Birmingham. One more incident which was more suspicious than dangerous. With about 50 miles remaining out of our 150 mile trip, we stopped at a truck stop "for gas". The driver and companion again disappeared---most of us didn't notice because we were in the restroom. At least this time the door was left open. They returned, put seven gallons of gas in the van, and we were off again. Groome only needs one thing in this market---competition. read more

comfortable on the shuttle... that is if you get on it. i heard horror stories that the shuttle arrives several hours late but for sake of saving money, my boyfriend decided to see the best in the service (big mistake). you would think that at 2am the shuttle would be on time... you thought wrong. my boyfriend and i waited outside for about an hour until the shuttle finally arrived. i called groome several times and each time "oh they're on their way... they're just running a little late." my question is, how i'm gods green earth is a shuttle running late at 2am???? moral of the story, don't book a shuttle with groome unless you want to be late for your flight. read more
