I used to think that going to a regular barber was good for a guy but that's not true for some/many guys. Yes, it is expensive but as long as you like their cut - worth it. And ask your friends what they think after - doesn't matter as much what your personal opinion of the look is - what matters is what others think.

Oka took an extraordinary amount of time talking to me and making sure to cut my hair as I expected. He was terrific. And so was Lake the individual who washed my hair. Made an account just for this. Reviews made me excited to try this place after failing to find…read morestylists in my area for men's wavy long hair (Shoulder to mid back long.) But most of those glowing reviews are pre-covid. I don't know if a lot of their stylists left but there's a notable lack of reviews post-covid. They're kind and the space feels lux and quiet. Problem is communication, went multiple times feeling very whelmed and changed stylist every time. After my third time I think I'm done, I've shown pictures and discussed with them what I wanted but they can never seem to get it right. Instead they default to a generic taper short off the sides and medium top cut, but then why tell me you can do the cut or even have experience with it? Is it my head shape? Face? Am I too ugly? Communicate that to me before you decide to just ignore the conversation we had and just free style. It's frustrating because I am growing out my hair for this cut and they do what they want. I don't want to be rude and stop you mid cut but then why am I paying so much just to be left unsatisfied? Most of the men leaving the place have the same exact cut. Anything longer than a short to medium cut is a no go, those cuts look clean and nice. Kept going in with shoulder length wavy hair just to get butchered every time.

Truly an experience when you walk through the door. Completely personable as you are greeted and welcomed with a complimentary drink. Can't say enough great things about Anastastia as she broke everything down for my ignorant self from shampoo/ conditioner regimen, best ways to dry hair, blow dry hair, style products etc but best of all literally put in a plan of a haircut that would best suite me. As the other high end barber I was going to would just evenly cut my hair and go very much by the numbers. Anastastia ended up only charging me half price ($30) because it was more of a clean up but still she shampooed conditioned, trimmed and of course taught me everything I was supposed to Be doing. She is great highly recommend her and looking forward to going back.

I came in with long hair and had a very clear conversation about what I wanted. I specifically said…read moreI like how my hair looks when I wear a hat and how it falls out from underneath, that I part my hair down the middle, and that I wanted to keep enough length to continue styling it that way. None of that was respected. It felt like my stylist didn't listen to me at all. I left with my sides buzzed and my hair extremely short, to the point where I can no longer part it or wear it the way I explained. This was a really disappointing experience, and I won't be returning.

Came here after seeing over 1,000 5-star reviews, and I left extremely disappointed. Erol promised…read moreme that any stylist would be happy to match a picture of myself if I brought it in, and Luis barely looked at the picture before he started chopping away at my hair. WAY too short everywhere, and nothing like the picture I showed him. The stylist to my right was constantly asking her customer if he was happy with everything as she was cutting his hair, and I had a feeling I would walk away with a shitty haircut. Sad to say I was right!

1) (international) booking : I was visiting New York and booked my appointment in advance. Since I…read morecouldn't leave my own phone number cause it wasn't an American one I left hotel information and it was not a problem at all 2) finding the place : this woulda been tricky because it is kinda hidden / private but I got messaged on the day of my appointment with very clear instructions on how to get there. With that it was easy. Nice service to get those clear instructions as well. 3) atmosphere : coming in to the shop I was greeted heartedly. As mentioned before it is kind of a private place and you get that feeling as well when you come in. It really is a nice place with an amazing atmosphere. The people working there seem like a family to one another. Very pleasant feeling all around being there. 4) the service / cut itself : without any doubt my favourite barber experience of all time. Before getting started we talked about what we wanna do in detail and I really felt understood. Besides that the consultation was extraordinary. You immediately could tell that she is an expert in what she does. The end result was simply amazing. Throughout the cut she always made sure that we were going the right direction and that I was satisfied. That is haircut and beard trim btw. 5) extras : I've already praised the actual things you are looking for in a barber shop but what stood out for me as well was the personality. Often times when you go to a barber I feel like they are just focussed on getting the job done and only talk to you about the cut or with their coworkers. That was not the case whatsoever here. We had a really nice conversation the entire time talking about basically anything. Time just flew past. I honestly wished it would've gone on for longer simply because I had such a great time. Furthermore I received valued advice on what products to use with the structure of my hair. I also bought a product she used to style my hair after the cut was done, but I didn't get the impression that she was trying hard to sell me the product. She simply adviced me to use it or something similar if it wasn't available in my country. After buying the actual product she also told me that if I ever had any questions I could always message her and ask away. So I really have nothing bad to say about this place. If you are in New York and looking for a high quality haircut and / or beard trim I highly recommend checking this place out. You will not be disappointed. If I ever visit New York again I'll be sure to come back. Thanks again so much for a wonderful all around service and the great time I had with you Cassie. All the best to you and your business. Best regards, Basti
