Normally I snub my nose at chains, but this is some of the best gelato I have ever had. The gelato and sorbet at Grom made from natural ingredients and does not contain any artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, or chemicals. The high-quality gelato is stored in metal tins to preserve the texture and flavors. I always order a scoop of crema gelato and a scoop of limone sorbet so I can compare with other gelato spots. The crema was perfectly sweet and creamy and the limone sorbet tasted like fresh squeezed lemons. Selling ice cream in a tourist area on a hot day has got to be about as close to a sure thing that exists. On the list of sure fire business propositions, a close second might be selling water in the gobi desert to passers by dying of thirst. After a few hours cycling around Milan checking out the main attractions, we were good and ready for break. Grom presents itself as a purveyor of fine ice cream, which appealed to our sophisticated palates (ha). It's hard to decide what to get. I was told that the strawberry is 'amazing'. On the other hand the walnut is 'really good'. As it was bonkers busy asking for samples seemed quite unsophisticated. No one was doing it. Maybe samples etiquette is different in Italy, like tipping (no tips, suck it!). I must have changed my mind four times while I was in line but finally opted for the presumed nutty goodness of walnut. If you closed your eyes and knew it was supposed to be walnut, it really did kinda taste like walnut. Insofar as the purity of ingredients that grom heavily advertises I guess I couldn't tell. Overall I can't complain. Glad to have some delicious ice cream on a hot day. But it's nothing too special. read more

I went to GROM as my Italian colleague who lived in Milan mentioned it was his favorite gelato chain. We were walking around forever looking for one. We finally found it by following the people with the GROM cups nearby. I would easily give this five stars, but as I didn't visit any other gelato stand except for GROM in my recent Milan trip, I don't have anything to fairly compare it to, so will stick to my four star rating for now. I will have to make myself try another place during my next visit, which is hard when you find something you really like. Fantastic service and fantastic flavor. read more

I ALWAYS order Pistachio gelato because it is difficult to make well and a good comparison point for the quality. This tasted quite different from other Pistachio gelatos I have had- it is buttery and very very rich. My friend from Milan took me here while I was visiting, and says they use real ingredients, not powders (or almonds + food coloring) as most places do for the pistachio gelato. Grom is a chain, and also has locations in NYC! I am sure it is cheaper in Milan, since gelato starts at $3-4 in the states for a tiny serving. This location is small, very modern and minimal, there is some bench seating against the window wall, but that is about it. It definitely feels fancier and more expensive looking than other places I have tried in the past in Milan. good find! read more

Fantastic gelato - avoid the tourist traps, this is the real deal. My tip is to look for gelataria that serve it from stainless steel tins, avoid any ornate display. Like another reviewer, my fav is Pistachio. The one at Grom is close to the best I've ever had, if not the best. Hazelnut was also great. Extremely reasonable price too! 3 flavours for 3.50 euro - I just saw a place in Paris for 5 euros. if this was in my home town I would be a regular for sure! read more
