It's sunflower season in KC, and there really isn't a better spot to check out than the beautiful Grinter Farms. Let's take a moment to recognize all the hard work farmer Ted and his family put in to maintain these stunning fields!!! When you visit, there are actually two nearby locations--first, if you follow Google Maps, it'll take you to a field that's just filled with sunflowers, but if you drive a little further, you'll find the main location with the central Sunflower General Store. They have converted their house into a cozy little shop selling handmade local crafts, and you can also grab some food at this location like sodas, brownies, and sandwiches. The last time I went, which was a couple of years ago, I tried a pulled pork burger from a food truck out there and a brownie, but this time I just stopped by the fields, took a few pictures. They also keep an active Facebook page, so if you want updates on fun things they have going near the fields or just details about the best time to plan a visit!! I absolutely love this place and have been visiting for many years. Just like me, I know you will love it too - 10/10.

Grinter Farms never disappoints. It's like stepping into a Kansas daydream--miles of golden sunflowers stretching toward the sky, why not, they know they're the main event. If you're visiting the Midwest in the fall, this place is a non-negotiable. And if you live here and still haven't been? I say this with love: what are you even doing? There's something strangely emotional about it--standing in the middle of all that sunshine, surrounded by beauty that doesn't ask for anything but your attention. It's peaceful, humbling, and honestly, a little magical. Pro tip: bring your camera, your patience, and someone who doesn't mind you saying "look at this one!" a hundred times. Grinter Farms is Kansas at its most breathtaking. Go. Soak it in. Let the sunflowers do their thing.

An absolutely breathtaking sight! We've visited for several years now and it is always amazing to experience these sunflower blooms.

One of my favorite family adventures to the beautiful sea of yellow sunflowers. Farmer Ted and his wife are gracious to let hundreds of visitors flock onto (their predominantly Soy bean and corn) property to experience the fields of blooming sunflowers in all their glory. It's an amazing sight to see the happiness the flowers bring to so many people. From families, couples, and photographers of all kinds. The fields have free admission, but donations are highly recommended. Various red donation bins are available on property to show your appreciation for the hard work that goes into managing such a big endeavor. Tip, make sure you visit their cute shop just down the road from the sunflowers. They sell trendy t-shits, bath bombs, honey, etched glasses, and many sunflower themed gift items. Don't forget to swing by the bakery. Fresh baked brownies, chocolate chip cookies, coffee and more!

This place is surreal! The vast fields of sunflowers are absolutely stunning. The owners are really kind, and I love their little shop for souvenirs and treats.

Busy but plenty of room to spread out and get that perfect picture!

Just a short drive west of Kansas City perfect for a quick and easy trip! In the past we had to drive an hour or more to find a good sunflower field but this was less than 30mins from downtown right off of I-70 so could be back home in no time and not need a whole day to make this trip. The sunflowers were in full bloom and plentiful. I saw some people picking them which kind of made me upset. If everyone who visits here took 1 dower there would be none left! So if you love to see beautiful flowers please just enjoy their beauty and let them be. Don't go after a big rain as it can get really muddy.

Grinter's is located right outside of Lawrence and a 45 minute trip from KC. Whether you're a Kansas native or visiting, stopping at Grinter's is a must! It's a remarkable, unbelievable site to see rows and rows of Sunflowers. There are many many bees so beware, however, as long as you don't bother them, they tend not to bother you. Also, visiting is free! There are donation boxes so bring some cash to support this Kansas beauty!

Beautiful sunflowers with lots of lighting bugs!

This is one of the best sunflower field/farm I've seen in person. It does meet your expectation and more when you see it on picture or online. But pictures does not do it justice. It's so breathtaking to see a field of sunflowers. So grateful for Grinter's Farm to allow the public to check out his sunflowers plants. You can donate if you want one of his sunflowers. But beware, with nature there's always bound for bugs. Make sure you got your bug spray, sunscreen, and good footwear because it can get dusty/dirty. Most of all, enjoy and takes lots of pictures and enjoy nature beauty.

    We had so much fun!

We visited on our way back from Lawrence a couple of years back. It was an experience just seeing people's excitement at the view! The line up of cars going in were impressive. You suddenly go around a slight curve in the road, and WOW. As far as your eye could see was fields of sunflowers! If you get a chance to visit, don't hesitate. You definitely can't see that many sunflowers in one place very often.

Vibrant yellow sunflowers pair perfectly with a beautiful sunny day and a bright blue sky. A sunflower field is a beautiful landscape, and Grinter's Sunflower Farm is the closest one to Kansas City. It is a place you can stop to take a quick look at or to slowly enjoy. The field is vast and almost seems endless. The flowers are huge, proud, and spectacular. You can easily spend an hour walking around the field and taking pictures. Admission is free, and you can cut some flowers to take home at a dollar a flower. After your visit, stop by Sunflower General to purchase sunflower-themed or local merchandise and grab a snack or bite to eat. What is a better way to spend a beautiful day in the Midwest than to be among the sunflowers?
