I have to commend the passion of the people who maintain this place, dress up each day, and keep their knowledge fresh. We went on a "Parlor Games" themed day and the lovely lady was so informative, patient and sweet. This is one of the coolest "walking through history" experiences we have done. You also get to see all the heirloom animals (that looks so different from what we are now used to) and the kitchen/ smokehouse/ tool shed.

This location has a house, several animal pens, some gardens, cattle, pigs and birds. You can talk to a few folks who work the farm. They also have a smoke house where they make their own meats and pick potatoes. You can't pet the animals but the cows are really friendly. This place is nice for photographs. There was a couple having wedding photos, and there was an elderly man taking pictures, and I just really liked how serene it was. My only complaints were not about the park, but the volume of traffic and how absolutely no one was wearing a mask during these times of covid! My child took dance lessons here recently, and enjoyed them. The instructors were friendly and…read moreseemed to do well with children. My major concern is the way teaching dancing isn't their primary focus. The owner/manager kicked off the recent Christmas recital by telling everyone that the school's primary goal is to spread Christianity, and teaching dance is only a secondary concern. That focus has been evident in the way they take time out of every dance lesson for prayer, and they spend entire lessons doing things other than teaching (e.g., the gift exchange, or the time when they tried to force the parents to learn to dance instead of the kids). The Christmas recital performance was unimpressive across all the age groups, so it certainly seems like teaching dance is secondary. Additionally, I have some minor issues. They have some classes in the "annex" at the church, but the hallway is not air conditioned so it got uncomfortably hot in the summer, and the only bathrooms are inside the dance rooms so you have to interrupt the dancers to use the restroom. Also, communications were lacking. They have an app, they send emails, and they post things to the notice board...but most things only are in one of those locations, so you have to check all three to find out when/where something is happening. If something is mentioned in more than one place, the info does not always agree, so sometimes you have to just call the office and ask when or where the recital is or what your dancer needs to wear. I found out that my child was supposed to get measured for a costume because someone I didn't know had a table in the hallway and was doing measurements of kids, so we stopped and asked what they were doing...no one informed me (to my knowledge) about the costumes or measurements, and if we had missed that day we would not have known until it was too late.

If you want to venture off the path, you'll find the creek here with some land area to get an overview of the water. The landscaping done for it is well-kept. The trails are also well-kept although don't be surprised if you find some debris and trash floating around on the grounds and the trail. Seems like it's gotten worse over the past few years. It's a shame as this area provides lovely views during nature walks when the sun is out and the breeze is blowing at a lovely pace. In addition, there is a playground and a softball/baseball diamond tucked here. You'll hear the sounds of bats connecting with balls and kids shouting since baseball games are played here often.

But I think it's lovely and I also use the bike route through the greenway to get to campus. If I had one main critique it's that I would like to see the trails cleaned up more often, the overgrowth has been an issue with the weird rain spell this year.
