We went to Birch Creek to go swimming for the afternoon. After looking around and asking a park ranger we found a nice place to swim. They improved one part of the shore with rocks and sand to allow for easy access into the water. I wouldn't call it a beach exactly, but there weren't any brushy, snakey weeds to intimidate me. I suggest water shoes as the rocks are..rocks. It is shallow a good way out and my kids and I had a great time in the lake. There are several camping areas, but I didn't camp this time.
