After the privilege of trying them once, we came home and began a long saga of attempts to duplicate the dish. After all, they don't deliver to the other side of the world... Well, after numerous unsuccessful attempts, we gave up in frustration. But then, years later, we had the opportunity to return and order the same dish. It was incredible and just as we remembered. Spicy, crunchy, tender morsels of atomic goodness. It cannot be duplicated. Just head down the dark alley and up the few steps in to this mecca of Sichuan taste sensation. You won't regret it. The service was great our waiters helped us accommodate a disability within my family and recommended us some great dishes. However, the restaurant is upstairs and the elevator was broken, which made it difficult for us to get up. The food: -Seafood fried rice: Really flavorful, with generous portions of dried scallop and crab. The rice was cooked just right and the serving was big enough that for a party of 3, we had quite a bit leftover. -Snow pea leaves in garlic: A favorite vegetable of mine, and this was cooked in an amazing garlic-y soup!! Such a clean and delicious dish -Egg tofu: This was my first time having egg tofu and they were so silky and smooth. They look a bit like scallop and are served with a good amount of broccoli and mushrooms! Honestly really addicting. - Steamed trout: This fish was very pricey, but that's normal for a live fish dish. It was huge- definitely enough to serve a party of 5-6. The fish was cooked to perfection and the sauce paired amazingly with the mild trout flavor. Highly recommend if you're feeling like splurging! This place is also nice, quiet, and clean inside during dinnertime. Really amazing experience overall!

I ordered a basic plate with katsu chicken and a side of rice. I said I was dining in but was confused where to wait. The vast majority of seating is upstairs so I figured I'd wait downstairs til my meal was ready, but they would have brought it to me. It wasn't busy so they knew where it was going. Meal was ready fairly quickly, under 10 minutes. I carried it upstairs myself though they kindly offered to do so for me. The chicken looked like a little wheel, cut into four equal quadrants. What it lacked in size it made up in quality. The breading was nice and light and not too crispy, and the chicken itself was very fresh and tender. The sauce was nothing special, but the chicken was tasty and didn't need much. The meal came with a little side salad as well. I'm used to macaroni salad with katsu, but greens were a nice change. It was good I had some filling rice to accompany the chicken since the portion is on the small side. Overall, kind, attentive service with a smile, and quality food in a spotless environment. A meal with a drink is somewhere around $15, so a little pricey given the small-ish portion of chicken, but I'll always come back for fresh, quality food.

There are tables across from the kitchen, upstairs and at the front window. Probably not best for large groups but 2-3 max. My initial order of the katsu curry was unfortunately cut short as they did not have rice prepared. This was a surprise, however given I came after the lunch rush, they are still finding their footing. The server recommended the katsu burger which I had some hesitation it would be dry given there was no curry sauce. Boy was I wrong! The chicken was breaded and fried into a juicy fillet with katsu sauce and yellow mustard that paired well like an old married couple. There was plenty of flavour in that burger! The fries that accompanied it were good and had some light seasoning on it. However I would recommend they provide some type of dipping sauce if you don't get the curry. Upon leaving, the owner opened the door and thanked me for my purchase. This was for takeaway and a very nice gesture. I see great potential for this place and look forward to returning to try more on the menu, as soon as that rice is ready!

It does. The hefty menu (literally, it seems to be laminated with lead) is complimented with a large array of specials scribbled all over the walls, which keeps things interesting. They were trialing a chicken satay roti, which we've found at only a few other places ever, so that was a must order. At those other places this dish is as it sounds - chicken from a satay skewer wrapped in roti- but here they've made it into a wrap with some salad. Very nice, but a heads up that it's very filling for an entree! We also had the pork dumplings which were nicely done, the calamari which was close to perfectly cooked, and the lamb curry which was mild on spice but very tasty nonetheless. We got chastised for not being able to finish it all from the cheeky wait-staff, but was all in good fun.
