Probably the best grilled chicken I've ever had…read more Upon planning my trip to Montreal, I was recommended to try the Portuguese rotisserie from a place called Romados, so I put it in my itinerary. However, I arrived during Christmas time so the restaurant was unfortunately closed , but one of the taxi drivers I rode with advised me to try Sparta's Greek chicken on Saint Catherine St. I am very happy that I listened to him. I don't know what they season their chicken and fries with, but it was arguably the best thing I had in Montreal. The chicken was so damn juicy and flavorful, you can tell their recipe has been perfected. The fries are just as good in my opinion; they were somewhat soggy but the sheer flavor completely negated the sogginess. In fact, the sogginess added to the experience imo - since I was starving - the flimsiness of the fries made it easier to devour them. Come here for the chicken and fries, you will not regret it.

All of the dishes were outstanding, but we particularly recommend the squid and the sausage dishes. Next time we go here, we want to try their sardines.

The food was pretty good but the ribs entree was a little small in my opinion because we asked if it was big enough to share among 4 people and he said yea but it wasn't lol. For one person it's a lot of food for sure, lots of fries but ribs were small and not a lot of meat on the bones. Shrimp appetizer was my favorite! Lots of flavor and I love the garlic oil that it comes with. I also don't know what's going on with that red pepper action in every dish lol it's like a little flare I guess xD Overall I'm giving 4 stars because of how good the service was and how welcoming the hosts were. They really make you feel right at home! Also nice flavors as well but just portion sizing could use some work. I had a great experience :)

Whenever I don't know what to eat but still want something good (and not too heavy), this is usually it. The chicken is always solid. Juicy, well cooked, and actually seasoned properly, which is not always the case at places like this. You can tell it's marinated and not just grilled plain. I usually get a bowl and load it up with veggies and a sauce or two. The sauces are really what make it for me -- flavorful but not overpowering, and they don't taste artificial. What I like is that you can build the bowl however you want. Some days I go lighter, other days I'm hungry and add more. Portions are decent and I usually feel full after, not stuffed but satisfied. Price feels fair for what you get. The place itself is clean and simple, nothing fancy but comfortable. Staff has been nice every time I've gone. Sometimes it's busy, but they still move pretty fast and don't make you feel rushed or ignored. It's not "fine dining" obviously, but it's reliable. And that matters. If you're looking for something fresh, filling, and easy, Poulet Rouge is a good choice. I'd recommend it, especially if you're tired of greasy fast food.
