It's just a short walk from the noisier, pricier, and more touristy cafes on the Place de la Liberation, right at the end of a slightly unlikely looking street (as the name suggests). The server and cook were friendly and helpful to eaters with imperfect French. The server explained that they'd been serving their menu for 23 years. Everyone in the place when we ate there was having some version of the house specialty: moules frites --- mussels with French fries --- and it would seem pointless to go there for anything else. The menu includes about a dozen variants on the same theme: a large basin of fresh mussels with broth at the bottom. We had two versions and both were superb. The fries are piping hot and "a volontir": as much as you want, so you can readily soak up broth and fill any empty spaces with them. Top it off with some yeasty Belgian beer and you're very good to go. Yelp's price estimate of under 10 euros is simply incorrect, by the way. Our meals ran about 16 euros each, including beer; add a dessert and you'll push 20 euros. But that's still an excellent deal in the Dijon context.

I typically avoid ordering poultry while dining out (I cook A LOT of chicken at home lol) but this was the best take on chicken I've ever had. It was incredibly flavorful and unique. The service left a lot to be desired. In my experience, even when dining at a one-Michelin star spot such as Gramercy Tavern, I feel special and taken care of. This was not the case here. There wasn't a wine pairing offered with the tasting menu, so we asked the sommelier about getting wines by the glass to match the courses. He promptly told us that wasn't necessary and that red wine was fine for the entire meal. We obliged and followed his recommendation for an (admittedly tasty) bottle of red. While we enjoyed it, we didn't really care for having red wine during our vegetable and fish courses. We also noticed almost every other table enjoying an assortment of wines with each of their courses which confused us. Again... I don't want to lose sight that this meal was GOOD. The flavors were great and I really adored several of the courses. However, when we finished our final dessert course, we sat at our empty table for at least 45 minutes. No one came over to ask if we want a drink, water or the bill. I understand in France they try not to pressure guests to leave, so we were being patient.
