I called Griggs Plumbing for a clogged sink. They didn't show up on the day and window of time they promised and ended up showing up the next day. The technician assessed the clog and proceeded to show me three price scenarios -- between $650 and $800 for a simple clog. He told me all prices are negotiable -- what did I want to pay. I offered $300. He had to call it into the manager and they got back with $500. I told them no and still had to pay a $50 service charge. I hired another licensed plumber who charged me $200. I loved working with this company when it was run by the father, but the son has taken over and is clearly greedy. I did thousands of dollars of business with them and will never call them or recommend them again. They pray on people and try to bilk them for as much money as they can get. Griggs Plumbing came out to our house for a toilet repair 1 year, 2 months ago. They completed a reset of the toilet and charged us $350.00. They used plastic bolts to secure the toilet to the floor - those bolts broke. This time, they quoted us $717.00 to do the same repair which should have been under warranty. They used cheap materials which understandably failed. They would not honor a warranty because it was outside of a 1 year warranty that they offer. They wanted another $717.00 (All Labor and probably plastic bolts again) for about 1 hour worth of work per the field technician that came for the visit. They are trying to take advantage of senior citizens by overcharging and providing less than adequate repairs. I would not recommend this company to by worst enemy. read more

Not recommended & expensive!!! he said I need to replace the valve for the shower knob and it will cost me over $500 plus. If there's any handyman's out there know, I don't think there will cost that much to replace that. We weren't home quite yet so they sat at our table on the front porch The job was horrible and unprofessional I have no idea what they tried to set up here. But if you look at the water heater there is a drip pan, there set up Was if a three year old have done it I had to hire another company to come and fix it. The owner did come here and looked at it. He didn't say too much except they would fix it. And to be honest he wasn't very pleasurable as well but at this point I had no desire to ever let them work at my house again I posted the pictures of the company that came and fixed it (the last three pictures) What Griggs should have done is connected the PVC to the release valve and run the PVC along this back wall to come out the side of the house. Had a hot water heater installed for my parents. 700 dollars later still no water because all the pipes clogged when he turned the water back on. Then he just says oh you need to clean your pipes out and leaves. No water. Now all the faucets are ruined. They all have to be replaced. So there is another 200 dollars. I picked Griggs for the good reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, I did not have the same great experience. 1) They did not show up at the schedule time, even though my card was already charged for the deposit. When I called, the person I spoke to said he did not know what happened and that they will find "someone". 2) 2 guys arrived 4 hours after my scheduled time. I needed an extra hole for the drinking faucet which I had told them about when scheduling the appointment. The guy did not read the directions in the manual, proceeded to drill and promptly cracked the composite granite sink. The guy left saying the office will call me and reimburse me for the destroyed sink. 4) There was not follow up call, so I called myself. Took me 15 min just to explain what happened and confirm they owe me a refund. They acknowledged and promised to refund. There were no apologies given and no offer to rectify the situation. I asked about the broken sink replacement and was told "no", but I could "try" to email the business and plead my case.... great. Just hope other folks don't have to repeat this frustrating experience. read more

This company had done our backflow test for the last six years and no problems. This year was not the case though. We had them booked to do it but then had a letter from Manatee County utilities saying it was not done. I followed up with them and they Reassured me it would be done in 2 to 3 days. Another week went by and still not done. Called back and they said their guy was not at work and couldn't do it for yet another week. Now we have to pay twice as much almost for the utilities department to do it themselves. I called Griggs on the recommendation of a co-worker. I needed two toilets swapped (one from bath #1 put in #2 and vice versa) so my young kids could sit on the potty without the use of a stool. They showed up an hour late and then charged me $504.68 to swap out these two toilets. I called the number on the invoice and Ryan took off $150 after I argued that the two plumbers he sent were not at my house for four hours each. In fairness, I did ask them to quote additional work but they were wishy-washy about the time and cost that I declined the additional work. Had I known they would charge what they did I would have never had them do the work. So, $354 to have two toilets swapped out. My suggestion - call someone else and get multiple quotes before you let Griggs into your home! read more

Don't waste your time with this company. I wanted to have a backflow put in so I could have irrigation system installed for my lawn. Ryan took the case and was told he would get permit on Tuesday as Monday was MLK holiday and would be out to install it Thursday or Friday. I told him numerous times it was so I could have irrigation system put in. He didn't show up Thursday so call them Friday morning. He asked me again what it was for and told him for the third time during this conversation. Asked him if he got the permit and he stated no would be next week. This company wasted my time. Now have to start over looking for another company that I can rely on to do their job when they say they are going to do so. Also now have to contact the irrigation company back to reschedule when they can come out. Very unprofessional company. Ryan didn't apologize or do anything to try and correct the manner.
