Stopped in after way too long of them being closed. They are finally open again after being closed. Happy to see the newly restored bar. Menu is about the same as before for those who used to come in. Well worth the visit to this local establishment. The wings are back. So happy about that. I had the patty melt which had the perfect onions and grilled jalapeños. My husband devoured the ham and cheese rightfully so. The fries nice and crisp. Tater tots were also crisp. The bartender is new but very attentive. Looking forward to seeing him grow in his role. The owners are staples with the old regulars coming back. The feel is a refresh not a replacement. It still has the old feel but with an updated feel. The bathrooms are really nice for a pub. Plenty of room and clean. Honestly very happy to see them able to recover from a fire. Make sure to visit for the wings or one of the best steak nights in Houston.

Griffs has resurrected better than before their closing. I came here on a Friday for lunch and had Catfish for $9.95. They give you the choice of Fried, Blackend, or Grilled. I came again on a Tuesday for Steak Night. I had a huge Ribeye steak and baked potato and a drink for $19.95. It as made to order and did not disappoint. It happened to be during and Astros game so there as a good crowd. Nothing fancy but a great local small town feel in the Heart of Houston Montrose. They have an Irish Texas Theme and loyal to all local Houston Sports and the Official Texas Tech bar in Houston.

Griffs re-opened with a new building. They have all their regular specials including steak night, trivia, and karaoke. The new space has around 20 televisions for all the sports. The food specials are also back. It's a great neighborhood bar.

I had the club sandwich and tots. My buddy had the blackened catfish. It was all really good. Chris, the bartender was great.

    New inside area

Griffs is a Houston staple and is back after the fire that took place there. The inside and outside of the building has been redone and is beautiful but it still has that same vibe as before. It's home. They revamped the menu and have old favorites as well as some new items. It's delicious!! The people are wonderful and the drinks are great. Give them a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Great local bar Humble surroundings and decades of stuff on the walls. Went there for burgers and football and we were greeted with excellent service and good food. The draft beer selection is good. We'll come back for at Patrick's day.

Great little dive bar with a close-knit feel. My group and I came here because I was looking for a Thursday night trivia spot. I had read a few reviews and decided to check this place out. First of all, this seems like a really cool spot for any night of the week. They have lots of promos and nightly specials. I hear great things about the steak night! As for Trivia night: * Starts at 8pm (finally, a start time I can make it by!) * $3 per person to play (includes a complimentary nacho bar and Round 3 Jell-O shot) * 4 rounds of 10 questions each, plus one bonus riddle at the end * Very serious trivia goers, but ready to be lighthearted and have a good time * Tough questions! Be sure to bring a diverse group They also have a great menu for a bar, including world-famous burgers, wings, and other grilled specials. I had a grilled ham and cheese and it was delicious. Our waiter was incredibly nice and attentive. We had a great time, and will definitely be back. Thanks for showing us such a good time!

jello shots, nachos, and trivia...what a great combo!

Hit up Griff's for Thursday night trivia ($3 entry fee per person, 8 pm) and was not disappointed! We parked on the street and walked up to the quiet, unassuming pub located just behind Montrose. As soon as you step through the door, the environment changes immediately from desolation to coziness, color, and warmth. I ordered only a diet coke but helped a friend split a pitcher of Shiner (pitchers ranging from $8-11). Once we turned in our entry fees, we were granted access to the modest but tasty nacho bar (which, along with the jello shots that were being passed out like Halloween candy, easily make up for entrance.) Our trivia quizmaster was quite lively and the four rounds, each 10 questions, passed with much cheer and laughs to be had. Afterwards, our gregarious server offered us $3.25 you-call-it drink specials, but we called it a night and head home instead. I will say that the bathrooms are pretty grimy; after all it's a bar, so I don't really care. I can foresee a pretty busy near future, but I'll try to be back whenever I can - Griff's is truly a Montrose institution.

The quintessential neighborhood sports bar that is friendly towards regulars and somewhat homely. The food prices are pretty good and the food is alright. I opted for the burger and onion rings. The burger was pretty good but the onion rings were not worth the $1.50 up charge. Perhaps I should have opted for the tots or fries. Quesadilla that someone else ordered looked impressive but I didn't get to try it.

I love steak!! This spot is my favorite Houston steak night (and y'all, I've been to so many)(too bad I wasn't 'Yelping' so y'all would know)!! Tom is my favorite, then Emily. The owners are in there occasionally on Tuesdays and are down to earth. ANYONE is welcomed and treated kindly. $12.99 for a steak, potato, and beer!!!! The steak is SO good and I order mine medium-rare!

Griffs is a good time if your looking for crawfish and beer buckets. If you love cajun style music this place will be great. The day was cold so some heaters would of been appreciated. None the less, the crawfish was seasoned well. For more insights, follow Val.bites.back on Instagram

Sad that Griff's is only a vestige of the classic bar it was in the 70's.

It felt like a place you could hang out for a while, whether you're there to celebrate something or just have a few drinks with friends. One thing to note is they don't serve food, I did hear they rotate food trucks at times, but none were there when we went which was a bit of a downside, but they did allow us to bring in outside food, which honestly made up for it and gave us more options. Parking wasn't too bad when we went, and since it wasn't super packed, everything felt smooth and easy. Overall, great vibes, good drinks, and a fun place. Definitely a spot I'd come back to for a casual hangout or social night out.

(easy to get a drink thanks to the waitstaff circulating the floor) The beer selection is consistently good, and the overall vibe gives you that classic British pub feel, reminiscent of the Sherlock/Baker Street pubs I frequent back in the day. That said, the food was a letdown for me on this most recent visit. I tried out their fish and chips (even upgraded to the extra filet), and unfortunately it was one of the worst I've had. And that's coming from someone who's tried plenty of pub food around Houston. It was mostly thick batter, overly greasy and soggy, and the fries underneath weren't fresh, just limp and bland. It didn't feel like it was made to order or wasn't made with care at all.. Overall, it's still a decent spot to catch a game and grab a pint. Parking can get tight during peak hours, but the solid service and lively crowd make it a decent hangout for match day.

The service is definitely on the slow side, but they have an ordering app now that makes things a lot easier. Not everything on the menu is great, but there are quite a few things that are really tasty. I would NOT recommend ANY of the burgers -- the meat was bland and just not enjoyable. On the flip side, the Bavarian pretzel is amazing. It's fluffy, perfectly salted, and comes with a spicy queso that's smooth and has just the right amount of kick. 11/10. I also really like the chicken fried chicken. It comes with two sides, the gravy is delicious, and it's super filling. Not the best choice if you're looking for something light, but the flavor makes it worth it. 9/10. The fish and chips are solid too. Even the small portion is big, with a crispy beer batter and light, flaky fish inside. Comes with all the classic sauces, and honestly, it's comparable to traditional British fish and chips. 9/10. Overall, the atmosphere isn't really my favorite, but it works if you want to watch a game and grab some good food. With weekly specials and reasonable prices, it's definitely worth checking out.
