We used to love this place. The nice waitresses that speak to you with respect. The juicy steaks on Tuesday. The TVs and packed ambiance. This wasn't just a spot I like. This was one of the handful spots I would actually recommend to my friends. And now, sadly, the completely opposite. The usual effective waitresses is now replaced by a rude, hat backwards guy that talk to you as if you are pathetic. I asked about the price hike on the steaks and his response (verbatim), "Yeah, this is for promotion only for those people that want to come in and sit. Since all you are doing is ordering it to go, you are not really doing much to get that special." Was he actually serious? And since I had to wait for my steak, I proceeded to watch him for the duration, and all I saw was a whole bunch of walking back and forth. Chit chat with customers. More walking. Other customers continue to wait. More customers continue to wait. Tragic. And finally, the price hike. Look, we all understand promos and such. And honestly, willing to pay for it if this was done correctly. But at least do the favor and inform your customers that this is now dine in only And whether it would be okay to have the original price if it's to go. The problem is that this is a big change when you used to sell it at $12 and now it is $17. And at $17 a steak, you are pricing yourself higher than the likes of Texas Roadhouse and other convenient steak houses. So effectively, you gave away the final reason people would come in. Don't get me wrong, the Steaks are good, but not $17 good. It's no wonder why this used-to-be packed place is now more than half empty by 9pm. read more

Make sure you are a fan of the teams of the owners and friends because NO ONE at this establishment has a sense of humor. I came to visit Houston for 2 weeks LOVING this bar until one bad experience where I will never come back. I come from a football loving town where most normal people enjoy the game and sport and also can have a sense of humor, including the opposing team. This is not the case here. I love the bartenders but besides that the negative presence of such unfriendly owners (and friends) made this bar a never again. I love me some dive bars, but this one is a dump. Dark. Dirty. Dive Bar. If you're going to come here make sure NOT to come to watch a game. The owners (two ancient twin crones) get drunk and yell at all the patrons they'll also pick fights with you if you don't support the team they're rooting for up to the point of throwing you out. The bartenders are friendly, and when you go PLEASE tip them well. They recieve NO salary and work only for tips, which is ILLEGAL, by the way. Many of the patrons are also either super trashy (snorting coke off the pool table) or creepy and some are even downright mean. Avoid. read more

Great neighborhood spot to go for a couple of drinks or to watch the game. Griff's get's the job done, and for cheap, just remember, NEVER EAT AT GRIFF's. There are RATS living (well I presume) inside Griff's. If the RATs don't get you, the roaches will. The only solution is to tear down the place, in which case it would become Chinese Consulate Parking Lot. So in summary, NEVER EAT AT GRIFF's. I speak from experience. I have seen the rats (inside the building). Just trust me on this one. Drinks YES, Food NEVER. read more

I have been going to Griff's on game nights for over a year. I love the casual atmosphere and the food is great and affordable. I can't say that I've been eating health food while watching sports on their numerous tv's (unless thriple decker ham and cheese now counts as health food) but it is so good and makes it a fun experience. Jello shots are passed around when the Houston area teams score so its a fun time had by all. They also host a trivia night that is tons of fun. read more
