We recently hired Griffith Painters to remodel three rooms in our new home, and I can honestly say they exceeded every expectation we had. Professional, clean, efficient, friendly, respectful -- this team is the gold standard. From start to finish, their attention to detail was unmatched. Jay even came onsite personally to check in on the progress (which we really appreciated). Every single person on the team was, sweet, respectful and meticulous. Special shout-out to Roy, Elvis, Marvin, and Carlos for their incredible craftsmanship. Our project list was not small: * Dining Room Transformation (the showstopper): They installed crown molding, wainscoting, and shadow boxes, and the transformation is unreal. The room looks elevated, custom, warm, and straight out of a design magazine. It changed the entire vibe of the space. * Entryway: Repaired and Refreshed: The previous owners had a security system wired into the walls, and we had to cover up several holes as a result. Griffith patched everything flawlessly and gave it a fresh new coat of paint. * Primary Bedroom Glow-Up: They added crown molding in our primary bedroom as well and repainted the entire room. The transformation is truly incredible - the space now feels like a calming, spa-like retreat. The whole vibe shifted from "fine" to "luxurious sanctuary." They even transformed our hideous closet into something beautiful and welcoming. The kicker? They completed ALL of this work in just three days. We're convinced they are the SWAT team of painting and carpentry - precise, fast, skilled, and crisp. We are completely satisfied and so grateful for their work. After 2.5 years - paint is chipping and cracking. Uses sub contractors that are not good. Shutters are not hung correctly. Painter mixed two different brands of paint. Horrible paint job! Splatters all over the roof. read more

Mr. Griffith came to our house within a couple of days of our initial phone call. He submitted his estimate two days later and it was reasonable. Four days after signing our contract the crew was at our house to power wash. Although we were having just the front stucco painted we chose to power wash the entire house so the crew performed this service on a Monday. The next day the crew returned to paint. They were patient while we selected a color showing us many samples in different lighting. The house was beautifully painted and looks new again. Clean-up was thorough and fast. Just wanted to give a shout-out (pause for applause) to Jay Griffith and Roy (Jay's project manager) at Griffith Painting. If I could give SIX stars, I would. They did most of the original interior restorative/painting work in our home (pretty much every room); I've hired them back for every other small and large project since (a couple of years ago they did the entire exterior of our house - fabulous). They do SO much more than painting... We've continued to hire them because they are the BEST. Jay and his crew really care about making the customer happy and place tremendous value on building and sustaining long-term relationships with their customers. They completely refinished our deck in June (we had to take it down to the bare wood and replace a plank or two), and this summer it became absolutely filthy with dirt and grime we couldn't remove. I called Jay to come take a look, and he arranged for the Benjamin Moore rep to come out as well. Turned out to be a bad case of mildew that had spread (from all the water and the trees around our property). Jay offered to have his crew come over and clean the deck as a courtesy (there's a special solution you can use) - and they came later THAT day (yesterday!). Not impressed by the quality of work. If I had to do it over again, I would have hired someone else. Underestimated amount of time needed to complete the job, instead of doing it properly they rushed through and didn't prime what was promised. If you can't see it, they won't paint it. I was hanging a painting the other day and noticed they didn't even paint on top of the doors! They came back to do touchups, but didn't fix everything. I had to run around sanding, spackling, sanding and painting what they didn't do well. I should have paid more for better work. They painted over dirty surfaces and paint is peeling now. They also had strangers come (cousins, brothers, who knows!) to finish the job, and I am certain something of ours was stolen. Bottom line- the job is not worth what was paid, even though they tried to make it right by redoing some work. BTW the contract was a useless document that was completely disregarded. They used lower quality paint, less coats, didn't prime what was promised, didn't spackle and sand what needed to be prepped before painting, and didn't protect our floors from the start. They painted right on top of dust and debris. Additionally, I "second" everything that Adam said in the filtered reviews that are 'not recommended' regarding lack of communication. There was a major disconnect between manager and work crew, and myself. I contacted manager a dozen times to get a response. I had to talk to work crew directly. They were nice guys, but simply didn't pay attention to detail and got sloppy rushing. read more

When we decided to finally paint our house, we knew that we would get an estimate from Griffith Painting, since we see their signs all over Scotch Plains and Fanwood. Once we met Jay Griffith and talked with him about the project, we cancelled our other appointments for estimates and signed with him immediately. He had good suggestions for the project, was receptive to our ideas, and was responsive to our questions, both in person and via email. We appreciated having a free color consultation with Kim. She was tremendously helpful, and we settled on a palette of colors that we love. Once the project started, we were impressed with the quality of the work. Our project required several days of work, and the crew was always prompt and courteous. They were also quite responsive to our suggestions. Each day that passed, our house got more and more beautiful. By the time the project was done, our house was completely transformed! The job was done more skillfully than we could have expected, and the finished product was even better than we could have imagined. There is no paint left in many locations on our wood siding. There are many bare spots after a few years (original job was 10/2014). Between the extremely poor lack of communication that I had mentioned and the inferior, poor quality paint job I would definitely not recommend this contractor. I unfortunately have to recommend staying away from Griffith Painting. For professional painters, their work was sub-par. The painting was uneven in spots, they painted shut a couple of our electric sockets, and they left some small but noticeable paint stains on our carpet. To top it all off, the owner was rude. There are many other, better painters out there. read more
