The water equipment allows for children to play in a safe and fun environment. The park also has a full staff of life guards on duty while it is open. There is a small public bathroom which clearly has not been updated in years but there is enough room in the stalls to change if needed, several picnic tables and a huge playground which offers lots of slides and climbing equipment. It is a bit of a drive for me to get here but it is worth the ride for what is offered and how much fun the kids have.

Nice big park with swings for the babies and the big kids, as well as two jungle gyms for different age groups. There are fields for baseball, soccer, and a mini football field, as well as a nice long walking track around them. I really like that everything is open for visibility's sake, so I don't have to work hard to keep an eye on my kids, even from all the way across the park. It makes it somewhat hot without any shade, but it's not too bad since everyone is getting soaked on the splash pad anyhow. My only complaint is that it's pretty crowded here for much of the summer, so you have to keep a close eye on the little ones so they don't get run over by the bigger kids.

It is very very quiet and almost never has more than a w visitors. There are a couple fountains and little areas where you can sit and relax. It was like a movie set for a Colin Firth period drama. I went when the foliage was at its peak and the colors--red, orange, yellow, pink, magenta--were incredible. I can't wait to check it out in the spring, and am already looking forward to next fall's foliage. A group of friends and I spent the day at the park, followed by dinner in downtown Newburyport. What a nice park, and have been visiting every fall to see "Maudslay is Haunted", a "theater in the…read moreopen" fundraiser. This may be our last year however as the parking rate increased. While parking is $5 for Mass residents, I've always been more than happy to pay the $10 fee for out of state visitors, but this year we were surprised to see that rate increase to $20 for out of state plates. I suspect that means that they have enough residents visiting and want to discourage those from out of state. For this reason, I'm only awarding 3 stars. The "Theater in the Open" event is lots of fun, a "spooky trail" geared toward children, but adults will enjoy it as well. Additional fee is $10 per person. If you want to visit, I suggest hitching a ride with an in state Mass resident to enjoy this hidden gem of a park in Newburyport.

The littlest one had a bit of trouble getting around as all the surfaces of the actual playground are steps and a little tall, but the two year olds had a blast! This is a wooden "castle style" playground similar to Action Cove in West Newbury or Field of Dreams in Salem NH, but this one is by far my favorite. The entire park is enclosed with a fence which is especially helpful because the castle part is kind of like a maze. It's very clean (though I didn't see a trash barrel which would be helpful.) And best of all they have painted things really cool. One section has a big wavy slide set as a dragons tongue and the head of the dragon is a huge mural painted on the outer wall. They also have a farm section with a play tractor and a sandbox connected to a silo that allows kids access to the sandbox. There are about a half dozen slides and swings, and a nice section to sit and have a snack. The only pitfall is that this park is not handicap accessible at all. They have a ramp at the main entrance and tables you could put a wheel chair up to, but the rest of the park would be impossible to navigate and the area near the tables wouldn't be accessible to a wheel chair either.
