Last night, we stopped there for a few drinks (only a half for me as the driver!) and were absolutely stunned. The selection of real ales is impressive and very well-kept and served. The landlord is extremely welcoming, pleasant and knowledgeable, but the pub itself.. Well, to say it is amazing is to do the landlord an injustice. As can be seen by the photos, the pub has an incredible amount of memorabilia; seemingly, most from the war years (no, I won't specify which wars!) but also an eclectic collection of anything that interests anybody. There are musical instruments throughout the rooms, a plethora of cameras of all eras, uniforms from forces, services and old schoolsI could go on all day. We all decided that it would take a full day just to sample the excellent drinks and to look around, then were told that they serve good food during the day as well. If this pub was closer to civilisation, it would be crowded out at all times.

It seems a husband and wife own the place and they are quite friendly. The inside is spascious and there is an IT box for those wishing to play games. There is also a small enclosed section at the back of the pub for those wishin to have a litle more privacy whilst having their drink. Once again I must return to the lovely food. Since it is homecooked it is fresh, tastes lovely and the prices are a lot cheaper than virtually everywhere else in the town for equivalent food. The portions are very good. Having only eaten the sharing combo and nanchos I can voucher the food is A not bad for this place and B not too long of a wait on a bank holiday when it was busy so the chefs must be on top of things ! Inside is nicely decorated and has big booths and a conservatory to eat in! The left hand side of the bar is for drinking and bar snacks the right is the restaurant ! Also uniquely they have a table pager system shot when they are busy which seems very useful ! A pint on match days is £1.99 and they have a range of beers and ciders to match but with a steeper price tag ! A bottle of fruli was 3.90 so just be careful ! They do a great bottle cider called Hazy Hog ! I try to avoid the east coast IPA by Greene king as it leaves a funny feeling in my mouth but they do have a lot of choice on draught !
