No covered smoking area, everyone stands at the front door and they dont allow children at any time. Now, that might be the reason why this pub is quiet but in it's defence where it is situated is at a set of very busy traffic lights on the junction of Prestcot Road and Dunriding lane. The parking area is open at the front and at the back of the pub, not a safe place to take children.

St Helens Cider Pub of year 2015 and 16 Regional Pub of the Year 2015, 16 and 17. CAMRA Pub of the Year National finalist (last four) in 2017 and every chance of being named best in Britain. The only fault of this pub is its popularity; it really isn't big enough to cope with the number of people who love it! From being boarded up less than five years ago, the current management have transformed it into, as has been said, possibly the best pub in Britain for real ales and for atmosphere.
