!!!! PERMANENTLY CLOSED !!!!!!! This bus terminal no longer exist. It still pulls up on maps but it is simply an abandoned building. The only greyhound bus stop is at the Amtrak train station. Beware buses leave whenever they feel like it, they don't always stick to the schedule. They come late and leave early and will NOT notify of any delays or changes to the schedule. It's best to be there 1 1/2 hrs early. The Norfolk station is adjacent to the harbor park station, in the vicinity of the baseball stadium. 280 Park Ave Norfolk,Va 23510 read more

I give this place a one star if I could give it less I would. I had the absolute most horrible experience today with them the day before my birthday trying to travel to my family, I will never use them again. I have never been so livid about the way a company handled a situation. First and foremost you need to change your address for the Norfolk location on the internet it hasn't been that address for months now you haven't changed it I went to the wrong stop and because of that I miss my bus. I lost a ton of money traveling from Hampton to Norfolk by Lyft I lost the money on my ticket you offered no help no refund no anything absolutely despicable business practice read more

Tried taking Greyhound's service from Raleigh, NC to Norfolk, VA in March of this year. It was an awful experience with delays and very unprofessional behavior by the driver. Called Greyhound to connect with customer service and was told that they don't take such calls. Complaints can only be filed online. I did file my concern. Days later someone reached out to me without resolving the issue at all. No ownership for what happened or any attempt to address my concerns. I would and will take any mode of transport other than Greyhound in the future and would encourage anyone else to do so as well. read more

It's essentially a big open room. There is lots of bench seating available. Two vending machines and charging areas for electronics. Multiple stall restrooms for women and men and parking to the rear for those of you being picked up by relatives. It's really easy to check in and wait by the door where you're leaving from and way less complicated than say leaving from NYC. There are really only two doors being used for boarding and deboarding the bus so you don't have to worry about last minute terminal changes. I've never been here during normal business hours so I can't attest to the snack area I've seen on site. read more

I'd give it a lower star if I could, the prices were the cheapest we could find but the station we went to wasn't labeled and didn't even have any busses, they only had 2 and both were broken, and we waited 2 1/2hours before we had to uber to another station to get on a connected train, for me it was 2 1/2 hours but people had been there over night waiting to go to the same place meaning they had 0 over night shoe up, and when we got to the next station after a 2 hour uber we still had to wait another 30 minutes and even more people there had also been waiting for the same busses, and once we got to where we needed and we were going back at 2am we had another hour delay, and some people from the morning were still waiting at the station, the bus that got us had apparently gotten to an accident that caused the ac to stop working, and a small riot on the bus, the bus was about 100°+ according to my phone (may not be accurate) but once at the next station they had everyone get off and some people didn't make it back on for the next station even though they were there in line, being yelled at to go back inside, all the staff were rude and none of them stayed at the desk or even went to the bus area they just disappeared and want to get mad at people who have been waiting hours and over night read more

I've gone through this station several times. I feel it is cheap to catch the bus whenever I head to Philadelphia or New Jersey. The people here are not as friendly and service can be horrible. I was actually crazy enough to ride with all 4 of my kids by myself! It was not a pleasant ride. I prefer the mega bus just because the space capacity on the bus is limited compared to a double decker bus that the megabus provides. I do like that the greyhound has rewards and point system in which u can earn discount and cheaper bus fares. I also have to be cautious because I can get stuck with sketchy people that I don't trust sitting next to. But to get from state and across the country it can be cheaper than an airfare. It is with taking if necessary. But it's also good to be cautious. Not pleasant for families or with children. The area here is also really sketchy at night. Especially when they have some stores nearby like the nearby pawn shop that has steel reinforcements, so that they won't get burglarized worries me a bit. If it is necessary to save $$ then I say go for it.. It saves me gas and toll costs. read more

About the rudest people that you could possibly imagine. A last minute work assignment made it the only remotely affordable method of travel. I arrived four hours early with bag already tagged, just to make sure that I was already there and to get a little work done on the computer before hand. I ended up taking a short nap (less than an hour), only to be incredibly rudely awoken by a lovely Greyhound employee. The aforementioned employee, who was working the front desk, demanded to see all of my travel documents. She then patronized me as to why I showed up so early for my bus and told me that I wasn't allowed to be sleeping in the terminal. Now, I have done a LOT of traveling in my time, but NEVER have I been awoken dead out of my sleep and been forced to produce documents when I am clearly traveling. Furthermore, I have never been told that I am now allowed to sleep in a terminal awaiting a flight/bus/train ride. Simply terrible customer service by a terrible company. read more

If there is a way to give ZERO stars here, I'd do it! One start is over-rated for this place! My son, a special needs adult, got to the bus terminal at 6:00 this morning for a 6:30 scheduled departure. When he went to the counter for his ticket [he'd pre-purchased online], the MORON at the desk [1] charged him an additional $20 charge fee, and [2] issued him round trip tickets to Washington, DC, NOT New York city as his confirmation showed [but his checked bag ticket still showed NYC???}. WHAT kind of lack of service do they have here??? Are they hiring idiot who can't read, or just don't give a damn??? Customer Service, in this case, is an oxymoron. I'm guessing Greyhound of Norfolk gets a tax break for hiring incompetents, eh? THAT is the only explanation I can fathom. Thank heavens for the RESPONSIBLE representative in Richmond [who CAN read!] ... she corrected his ticket, and got him on the right bus, although his return ticket is now 8 hours later. Next time, Southwest Airlines. read more

Okay I've only done greyhound twice since the past two months .. this place has great customer service... but here's the thing.. they do not have enough busses or people who doesn't the maintenance.. it is terrible!!! I should not have to wait an hour for a bus to have maintenance done to it.. that should have BEEN done. Why does greyhound disappoint me all the time.. I'm never rising this again. You get what you pay for. The station is pretty dirty and outdated and it might as well be a guarantee that something is wrong with the bus. Currently riding right now and the light in the bathroom doesn't work (update: wifi doesn't either). Last time all the electrical outlets on the left side of the bus didnt work and the bathroom door wouldn't shut. Every 10 seconds the door would slam with a loud BANG. I figured out a way to make it shut finally, but apparently I was the only one on the bus that knew how or cared to do it. Expect to ride with people who have no common courtesy i.e. cracking open a can of smelly tuna/having a 2 hour long phone convo. Here's my one pro: The price. I only pay $35 each way from NYC to Norfolk. Compared to over $200 round trip for the train (which takes the same amount of time) it's a steal. That's why I ride with them every time. Also, the station is close to my apartment which is a plus. Don't change the price and I'll keep riding and 'putting up with it' read more

For my trip down the east coast, I decided to use Greyhound as my main transportation, due to the wonderful mission statement "to make enjoyable travel possible for everyone, providing the opportunity for anyone to travel in North America with safety, dignity and convenience as well as recommendations from others. Unfortunately, in my multiple experiences, I was not able to travel enjoyably and lacked much convenience. For my experience on the bus from Philadelphia to Washington DC, our trip ran over an hour past the departure time, with longs stops in between. The bus driver was rude, yelling at all the passengers including me and my friends, yet he claimed over the announcements he is "the best driver." He also made unnecessary extensive announcements making it very difficult to relax. There was also an odor of urine, even while unoccupied. On our trip from Washington DC to Norfolk, while checking in our baggage, the worker wasn't considerate of our time, and was not welcoming. She had a negative attitude towards all of us. Also, when we arrived to Richmond, our bus was delayed over an hour, and no apology was made for being late. Lastly, I have made multiple attempts to contact the general number for Greyhound, which I've been going in circles as I continue to get redirected to the virtual customer representative that only tells me to contact the number I just called. I have called every number of the NORFOLK station for multiple days, but I have never received an answer. As of now, I have had no way of contacting Greyhound except through this email in exchanging my ticket to a different time. Unfortunately from my experience, it had given me a negative view of Greyhound, and through the lack of customer service, I don't believe I would want to recommend others either. I have emailed customer services regarding this issue, but they don't respond either, so unfortunately leaving a negative review is the only way of reaching Greyhound to get a response... If any response at all. read more

My thoughts are split on this place. The customer service sucks. I arrived 30 minutes before my bus departure but there were no signs, signals, or verbal notices as to what bus to board and when boarding actually started. If I hadn't asked a random stranger I would have missed my bus. The first bus I was on was surprisingly nice. It was clean, had WiFi and working outlets. The driver was funny, took the bags on and off from underneth the bus, and nice enough to announce before getting to the stop which stop he was approaching. The second leg of my trip wasn't the best. The driver only announced once as he was stopping the bus which stop he was at, and it wasn't clear enough to understand. The bus was clean but had ragged seats and the outlets didn't work. This was my first experience with greyhound and if I could pay to make sure all my trips are like the first half I wouldn't mind taking them more often, but that isn't possible so I don't know if I'll try it again. read more

Ok I need to express how ridiculous greyhound is. Let it be know If possible I'd write a -5 star review. Also prior to this I had called greyhound on literally 22 different times to resolve this in the last 3 days and after getting transferred, shuffled, and disconnected I'm just fed up. read more

TRASH!!!! DO NOT TRAVEL WITH THEM!!!!! They are always late so if you have a connection bus or a flight to catch you will miss them. Don't count on them to give you any information or take responsibility. I was supposed to leave at 6 from Norfolk VA and the is 1 hour late. When I called them, they said the bus driver is late because he fell asleep. When I asked them if I will be able to catch my flight they said "probably not". They are unveiling to help me in any was. The most disrespectful behavior. ABSOLUTE TRASH!!!! AVOID AT ALL COST!!!! TRY EVERYTHING ELSE!!! You will have to pay extra anyway to get to your destination or you will never get there at all!!! read more

I mean, it's a Greyhound bus station. You really can't expect too much out of it. It looks pretty dated and unsophisticated, but it's a place to wait for your bus. I've ridden Greyhound a few times now, and I've had a couple experiences where the bus was running late. In one instance, the bus I was taking was running so behind that we ended up leaving about two hours after our scheduled departure time. The bus ride is ok. They have outlets at each seat, so you can charge your devices and keep yourself entertained. The workers, for the most part, seem disinterested and not very helpful. But they do enough, I guess. The Greyhound bus station isn't my favorite place to be, but it gets me where I need to go. So at least that's a plus. read more

I would just like to remark upon the horrible service I have received with Greyhound. Bought a round-trip ticket, going was ok negative part was driver was more of a drill Sgt,talked to you as if he's doing you a favor even though it's his job.. coming back wasn't good at all.crowded bus which one should assume to happen but,the driver laid his personal belongings taking up the 1st 2seats as you enter.even had the nerve to say when asked by a customer as he came aboard the coach about the seats " don't touch my stuff, they're plenty of seats back there" which was kind of true.being that almost each row was full and no one had a 2seat row for themselves.just thought the driver could've relinquished the first 2 seats which had the drivers stuff into the over head and have a possible 1st time traveler on Greyhound be happy with the service..another thing as the trip wined down I was able to change seats multiple times..this bus on every chair had 2 metal squarish hoops sticking just tearing up ppls lower back,I should speak for myself but there's 0 possibility that others weren't affected with those very uncomfortable chairs... read more

Greyhound is by far one of, if not THE worst transportation business. Times are inaccurate, customer service is nonexistent, and their facilities are poor. Poor communication skills are on full display regardless of your location. To elaborate, I get on a bus that is to connect to another in Richmond. They moved my bag elsewhere without any mentioning of it. Once I got to my final destination, my bag was left in Richmond. Most businesses where if something goes wrong, the employees do whatever they can to help and satisfy the customer. Not greyhound. The customer service rep simply gave me three numbers and said try them. Didn't apologize for the inconvenience nor show any interest in helping me retrieve my bag. Then it took 3 hours and 23 minutes before someone answered the phone. When asked why it took so long to answer the phone the lady said, " there's only one person working the ticket counter, when I have customers, the phone cannot be answered". Are you kidding me? One person working the phone and ticket counter for a WHOLE establishment? Then to add insult to injury, they say my bag is to be in Norfolk at 515 am. It is 6:55 AM and still no sign of the bus. When asked approximately what time will they get here, the best answer I received is "I don't know". I think it's about time we get up to date with society and mobile technology. If it is possible to provide wi-fi on the bus, it should be possible to track the bus. Very very disappointed with the service. read more

I had a great experience with this bus station. I checked in and I carried my bags on the bus. The bus driver was very handsome . :) I traveled from Norfolk to Newark, NJ. on March 18, 2016, and returned on March 19. It was a beautiful trip. Thank you Greyhound. read more

this statement is to state my concerns about the treatment of passengers on March 3rd 2016. I booked a ticket from Norfolk Virginia to Springfield Virginia. My bus left from Norfolk Virginia at 8pm and made a stop in Hampton Virginia to pick up more passengers. It was strange that we stopped because our bus was already full. Once we got to Hampton I noticed other passengers getting on the bus even though there were no seats left. With the bus being full at least 6 passengers got on the bus anyway. They all complained about the seating to themselves and other passengers. The bus driver was on and off the bus at the time. Seeing the other passengers get on the bus and there were no seats, I was under the impression that maybe the bus driver would try to find them anther bus or come up with some alternatives and unfortunately that was not the case. As the bus driver got back on the bus, he had no words for the passengers standing up, he just proceeded to take off and continue to Richmond Virginia which is about 75 miles away from where we were. From Hampton to Richmond that's at least a one hour and 20 minute drive. One gentleman on the bus was getting off the bus and the driver was pulling off, yelling "hey stop before you pull off, I'm going to get off". The bus driver stopped and asked if he had things underneath the bus and the passenger said no. The driver then made an announcement to the other passengers standing on the bus and let them know that if they wanted to get off the bus due to it being overcrowded then he was not getting off the bus to grab their things from underneath and that if they wanted their belongings that they would have to meet him in Richmond to get them. Everyone was in shock that he would make such an announcement. What bothered me the most is that the bus driver which is a clear representation of the greyhound bus company being that he is an employee had no remorse for the people that had to stand for an hour and 30 minutes as if it was ok. How can you be ok with telling people that. These people paid for seats, not to stand up. No where on the site does it say that there is a chance that you may have to stand on TJ bus. These people paid for seats, not to stand, point, blank, period. Based on the information provided on the greyhound site it says "Founded in 1914, Greyhound Lines, Inc. is the largest provider of intercity bus transportation, serving more than 3,800 destinations across North America with a modern, environmentally friendly fleet. It has become an American icon, providing safe, enjoyable and affordable travel to nearly 18 million passengers each year in the United States and Canada. There was nothing safe about that drive at all. Granted we made it safe with no issues but what if we got into an accident and something serious happened to the people standing up? Then what? This was completely unexceptionable. I called every customer service number I could to file a complaint and even the people that work in the customer service could careless about this situation and provide no solutions what so ever. It's almost like greyhound could careless about the people at all. As long as you all get their money. Once we stopped, I asked the bus driver for his name and he refused to give me his name. I asked him why he couldn't give me his name and he told me that I didn't need it. No respect what so ever and extremely rude. I then told him that I didn't like the way he treated the passengers and did not like the fact that he allowed these people to stand up for an hour and a half with no remorse. He told me oh well, go complain. He didn't care at all. I told him that if I was one of the passengers on the bus that needed to get my belongings that he would have definitely got my things for me and he told me that he would have whopped me. I didn't not appreciate how he spoke with me and treated the other passengers and it bothers me even more that a company that's been around as long as yours have would allow this type of behavior. I went into the bus station and asked at least 3 employees about speaking to someone about a complaint and they all replied letting me know that I was wasting my time because you all don't do anything about this type of thing and that people complain all time and greyhound doesn't do anything about it. I then spoke to a bus supervisor who offered me free breakfast for my troubles. I let her know that I don't want a free breakfast, what I need if for this matter to receive some attention. You can't try to give me some food and think that will make up for the disrespect, lack of concern for passengers, and the treatment that your bus drivers give to its customers. Everyone that got on bus SC86578 on March 3rd, 2017 from Hampton to Richmond needs a refund, not only for paying for a seat and having to stand for an hour and a half but also for the treatment for the bus driver. read more
