I have been taking this bus for the past 6 or 7 years. It is hands down the best inexpensive option to get back and forth to NYC. I started taking the Chinatown buses about 15 years ago so these are a great step up from that. The competitive buses which is what lead the market in the beginning are dirty, and they drop you off in Chinatown NY which depending on where you are going is not convenient. This bus drops you off in Times Square which is easily accessible by most parts of the city. The dozens of times that i have taken it there have been little to no delays and the drivers dont drive at a speed that makes you uncomfortable. The buses are clean and the seats are as comfortable as they can be on a bus. They offer several different convenient times to leave both VA and NYC. VA has a nice store front but in NYC you have to wait outside. Kinda sucks in the winter and bad weather but it is what it is. As someone else mentioned the wifi usually doesnt work although they advertise it. It does tend to be a bit cold so you do need to bring a jacket or blanket. They provide you with a water and they do make a stop if you need to grab a snack or use the restroom. Great bus if you need to get to NYC. read more

Poorly-run callous business capitalizing on a lack of competition. On 02/12/21, I took a bus from New York to Dover. The ticket cost 54 dollars, twice what I would expect to pay for a bus ride of similar distance, no doubt inflated by the few bus companies with service to this city. I arrived at the bust stop just under an hour before the scheduled departure time, handed my bag to an employee who crossed my name off a clipboard and placed in in a row of baggage, and I got on line. The bus took more than 15 minutes after its scheduled departure time to leave, but the trip to my destination went fine. However, upon arriving in Dover, where I was one of just two or three people to get off, the baggage compartment was opened to reveal that my duffel bag was not on board. I spent 10 minutes digging through the compartment with an employee to confirm it wasn't on board. It's possible that I overlooked it, but the bus had a further destination to get to and could not wait longer to permit me a more thorough search in the dark, so I was left traveling further without basic amenities like hygiene products or changes of clothing. Since then, my attempts to communicate with the bus company were consistently stonewalled. My lost and found report has gone unanswered and customer service representatives have been unhelpful and uncommunicative as to what steps I can take to retrieve my belongings or get compensated for their disappearance. If you value accountability, affordability, or attentiveness I strongly encourage you to consider traveling with a different agency if you can. read more

The worst experience ever on Sprinter Bus!!!! On April 14th I traveled from nyc to VA with my 5 year old son and got ROBBED!!!! Around 11:35pm-11:45pm, the bus driver pulled up at the first stop (Va Beach - Food Lion on Wesleyan Dr. In the parking lot ) to drop off 50 people. My son and I were one of the last people on the bus to get off (The driver asked everyone to get off with their belongings). So we did. I had a lime green reusable bag with the handles tied together. Inside was my clutch (with my credit cards, $200 in cash, business cards, etc.) , my son's Amazon tablet, sunglasses, toiletries, two magnets and everything was stolen!!! The bus driver told everyone going to the last stop to take all their items and put them under the bus. He said he was closing the door so they would be safe. So myself and two other guys put all of stuff down there. I put mines in first and got back on the bus with my son. The bus driver was standing there holding the door handle to pull it down and let some guy come up and continuously take bags! This thief was on the bus ride with us ( food lion has footage) black male about 6 feet, had on a white hat, white shirt and brown/khaki pants. He had a women pick him up she helped him place about 8 bags into a dark four door sedan and drove away after taking my bag. Which was his second trip to steal from the patrons on bus! You can tell they do this regularly or the bus driver is in on the scam!!! Why the bus driver would let anyone take bags knowing you just told the people who are continuing to place everything back on ...makes no sense at all!!! Sprinter Bus has a disclaimer stating that there not responsible for ANYTHING that happens on the bus but their driver is the one who instructed us to place our items there and allowed someone to take them back off. So how are they not liable? What makes me so angry is that no one has followed up on my complaint completed online, I file a police report and did more investigating then anyone else. I have to replace everything and as a military spouse that no easy task. My son and I thank god had an Lyft scheduled so that's how we got home. I WILL NEVER TRAVEL A BUS AGAIN and urge all military personnel not to as well!!!! It's NOT SAFE for ANYONE and Sprinter has done nothing to assist me!!!! It was 11:50pm-12am when I went to get my bags from under the bus and noticed one was missing. I immediately started yell and stomping because I was so angry. My son was crying! The bus driver said sorry.. dang. He let ME check under the bus and said he would let his supervisor know. Gave me his number and a link to file a complaint. Said hopefully someone probably took it by accident. Which was not the case. Not attempt to look at their cameras on board the bus to identify the thief. Not even a call to me as a follow up. I was better off on the China Bus!!! If I could give Sprinter Bus a ZERO I would. The police have the footage and I hope they get something from the license plate on the car of the theft. My only big issue from my last trip was that we left more than an hour past our scheduled departure time with no apology or explanation for the major delay from the employees. Not cool. My Tips: - Get to the stop an hour early to secure a spot in line to get on the bus first. (At the Virginia Beach store, you can pick up a number and then hang out in your car until pick up time.) - If you plan on catching up on your TV shows, download episodes to your phone because the wifi is not reliable. - Bring a light sweater because it gets cold. - Pack some snacks and a water bottle. Let me start by saying this was the first time I used a bus to travel across any type of state lines. The only reason they did not receive one star from me is because of the cheap round trip tickets for $90. But like a lot of things in life, you get what you pay for. The bus trip between the VA beach location to New York is roughly six and a half hours. On the trip up, we started off on the wrong foot, the rear right tire was flat on the bus that seemed to be leased from another company, because it was not the sprinter bus that you see in the pics with the "sprinter bus" in the front. We got on the road about and hour and a half later than projected, so instead of 9am, we left at 1030. When we got to our midway stop, the bus driver went to start the bus back up, and immediately the rear started smoking, and the accessory belt broke on us, luckily the bus drive knew how to replace it. We got there a little later than projected, but wifi didn't work, and bus troubles bumped my experience down. On the trip back down to VA from NYC, we had bus troubles again, and got back an hour late. We left on time, but shortly after our midway stop, the bus started overheating. Again, it was not a sprinter bus like they have in the pictures, but the driver pulled over, tried to see what was up, and got on the horn with the "owner" and came up with the decision to drive at a slower rate and tried to mitigate the bus from overheating while getting us back "safely". Which I could appreciate, but instead of being able to continue on to Norfolk, the passengers had to get off and take shuttle vans over to their follow on location. And the reason for this was the bus had to be back up in NYC! Blew my mind, the bus was already having troubles as it was, and still the company decided it was going to take passengers up on the same bus. After reading other reviews, I am convinced that the quality of service needs to be based around customer service and not saving or making that extra buck. At the end of the day service needs to come first, and when you have this many bus problems and it's transparent enough for a first time rider to see that the "just as long as we get you there" mentality is driving the ship, don't put out stuff like free wi-fi and jazz up the business for what it is not. read more

Use the sprinter bus from Virginia to New York City and it was a great bargain for a spur of the amount trip. This is like a mega bus but it connects from state to state it has Wi-Fi on the bus and bathroom. Be courteous to your neighbors the leg and arm space is not ideal at all. I love the idea that I can travel from Virginia to New York and not have to worry about fares or bridges or driving in the craziness of the city. Traveling cross the states is a very interesting experience if you are prepared correctly. I think that you will have a blast with good company, snacks and a light sweater. I was happy to find this travel service to transit to New York, it was cheap - convenient and easy. Definitely worth it to not have to drive in a place I wouldn't want to mess with. On the 28th of January 2021, I took the bus from Virginia Beach to NYC. I purchased a round trip ticket. The trip to NYC was safe, socially distanced, everyone masked and without any incidents ( except for a very loud lady yelling the name of one of the staff members). However, the return trip was HORRIFIC. We were packed in like cattle.No social distancing, no wi-fi hook ups, the bus was cold, the bus was to leave at 3pm out of NYC ( on the 31st), but the staff allowed late comers which packed the bus. Approximately 1 hour into the drive we were told the bus could not make it in the snow, therefore another bus would pick us up at the mall we stopped at in 20 mins., 45 minutes later we were picked up and the trip continued. People complained of the lack of social distancing, the girl sitting next to me kept falling asleep on me and it was a miserable journey. I can assure you, this was the first and LAST trip for me on this bus. I just wish I could rate this company a minus 1 star. read more

On Saturday, February 8th, I had a reservation for from Times Square, New York, NY to Dover, Delaware at 4pm. I put the pickup address in my phone's GPS 201, West 37th Street to ensure I was at the right location because I travel to Delaware and Pennsylvania on a bi-weekly basis. I typically take Megabus or Boltbus and have taken most buses that go to Philadelphia like Peter Pan, Greyhound, Wanda Coach, like seriously almost every bus I have tried that goes to major cities. I was born and raised in Dover, Delaware and really need to get back to Dover once a month for family so I decided to try this bus. WORST DECISION I COULD HAVE MADE AND I AM STILL REGRETTING IT When I walked up to the bus there was a gentleman that looked at my phone confirmation and wrote my name down on a notepad along with other riders. I sat comfortably on the bus and relaxed and when I was about 10 minutes from Dover Downs, I notified my ride that I was 10 minutes away. In 10 minutes I looked at Google maps and realized I was now 20 minutes away from Dover. I began to panic and after 15 more minutes I asked the bus driver where the bus was headed and he told me Virginia. To make a long story short. He was kind enough to pull over in the middle of nowhere and let me off at a Royal Farms gas station. I was able to get an Uber 20 minutes later that took me to Delaware $60 later. I am a positive Patty so I just knew that Sprinter would make things right. Luckily, I did not end up in Virginia. I called the customer service line once I got in the Uber and spoke to Miriam (pardon if this is misspelled). She told me that a supervisor would call me back after explaining to her what happened. She asked me write an email of what happened and I declined because I already work 70-80 hours a week. No one called so I followed up the next day. Miriam answered again and said that the supervisor was made aware but she was unavailable and would be following up with me. No one called. I waited a couple of days and called back, now I was told that the supervisor was in a meeting but would be reaching out to me. Yesterday I called and she said the supervisor was not available but she checked the account and found that I was granted a $15.00 credit. My bus ticket was $45. At this point I am guessing that I will never hear back and that they will never find a resolution but as someone who has worked in the hospitality industry since I could pronounce it I cannot warn you enough to not support, purchase, or take Sprinter Bus. read more

I was on the phone with my mom sitting in front of Luxury Nails in the same shopping plaza as this company. Suddenly their white van company vehicle with a piece of equipment on its hitch pulls up next to me with it's passenger window down and out of the window goes an empty soda bottle. With my window down, I yell to the man in the driver seat "Hey I saw that! You better go pick it up!" And he yells back "You think I care what you think b****?!" So I told him I'm calling the cops. He was a black man if that helps narrow any staff members down. He left a minute later. Today is Sunday Dec 15 and it occurred at 3:36pm..you probably think I have nothing better to do than call the cops. You're right, I don't. So I did and now I'm waiting. And as I'm waiting, the man who littered circled around the parking lot and came back, honked twice and sped off in that same vehicle. I have a picture of the vehicle and license plate I will be showing the cops, and was able to get pictures of the man who littered. To the owner of this company, you can privately message me about this incident. Your employee deserves to be fired as they are the face of your company and made it look like trash - the same trash they threw out your company vehicle. read more

I used to love taking this bus because it was so organized but that has all changed at least on the NY side, not the Virginia side. NY side doesn't have an office so your left standing outside on the corner of 37th ST & 7th Ave. Usually arriving at least an hour before departure to stand in line no staff from Sprinter is on location until 15 minutes before the bus is to leave. People are constantly skipping the line, which causes arguments and fights. (Someone's grandma slap the hell out somebody). The buses are usually clean and smell good. The bus driver turn over isn't high, because I've rode with the same driver quite a few times come from NY to VA. From VA to NY it's always been a different driver. A around trip ticket cost about $90, which is a $30. Jump from a year ago. The prices get higher but the service gets worst. Hmmmm something isn't adding up. My hope for Sprinter is to return to the quality service you started off with. read more

I was extremely upset, not only because of canceled bus but now my flight will be missed. They said that there wasn't enough people for that time and canceled. I am writing this review from the bus right now because there is FREE WIFI! Also, I have had my own seat on the trip to NY and now on the trip back, which is very nice; I'm quite happy to not be in a friggin packed bus. The driver is friendly and *bonus* has a mic system where he actually announces things like arrival time and rest stop instructions (imagine that). The Bus has been on time and I love their organized system of seating. Free bottle of water with every trip! $40 one way, $70 round trip. It's a few bucks more expensive than the average China Town Bus but it is WELL WORTH IT. Also drop off location is very convenient. Only a few blocks from the 34th street subway and the N,Q,R trains. After the reading previous reviews, I am must say that I agree with all of it. It seems that it depends on the day and time that you take their bus. I called last night to get information on bus schedules etc, there was a young lady who lacked customer service skills and kept cutting me off when I spoke. She kept pushing me to go to their website. When I kept trying to ask her other questions, she abruptly took over the call and said that she is working and doesnt have the time to explain everything to me; that I should check out the website. I agreed to do so, but my questions following the first ones were not questions that the website can answer. The company is poorly run. Last time I went on their bus trip, about 10 people got left behind because they overbooked their trip. :( Really bad! I made the last bus trip in March 2012. I am fixing on going to NYC in October; i really wanted to give this company a 2nd go but I am reluctant because of previous experience and the rudeness of the lady who answered my call. They didn't tell my girlfriend that and we had to drive all the way to va beach to leave. They were helpful and let us be first on the bus. But then we get on the bus. No Wifi! No outlets! Wtf? Surprise surprise there is no refund or concession made for this. But right now. This is the worst. Coming from NYC back to VA beach and not only do we have no internet or power adapters, but the Air Conditioning is broken on the bus. Good bye, Sprinter Bus. I received a message from a Sprinter Bus employee asking me to update so here we go. I'm beginning to be very disappointed with their service. I was never impressed with the people who work in the office. The lady who is always there is not friendly and looks annoyed most of the time. But the people who load the busses and the drivers are very friendly. They should really look into hiring someone else for their New York location. The guy is alright but he's hardly wearing Sprinter Bus gear so it's hard to figure out who to go to for your boarding pass. He also doesn't keep the passes in order. Another thing is their price. I heard it's going up to $90 for a round trip ticket. Are you kidding me??? When I started taking them it had cost $70. This price increase is ridiculous. They still use the same crummy buses. The wifi has NEVER worked. They don't have an office in New York so you have to wait outside for the bus which is not fun when it's freezing out. I've taken nice buses from DC to NYC for around $90 round trip. Those buses had working wifi and nice leather seats. I have two accounts with them. (Forgot I created one already). I can't combine the points between those accounts. I emailed them about this and they told me this. I have almost enough points for a free one way ticket but I don't want it, especially since i already have enough points if they would let me transfer my points. Sprinter Bus is really a mixed bag. Sometimes the bus shows up early, you get a seat to yourself, get driven with no delays to or from New York, and all with a bus driver who is professional and courteous. Other times, the bus shows up late, the driver is rude, you get delayed for strange reasons, and overall it's just not a very pleasant experience. I've probably done about 10 one way trips at this point, and while the experience is not very consistent, I do have to say that it tends to lean toward being a pleasant journey most of the time. Typically, the bus is clean, the service is good, and I make it quickly and safely to my destination, but like I said, you can never be sure what you're going to get. I'll continue to use Sprinter because the fare is pretty cheap and there don't seem to be many good alternatives. However, in the future it would be nice to see Sprinter up their game a bit in terms of professionalism. I also really hope that they revamp their schedule at some point--most days when I leave Virginia Beach, the only option is the 11:30 pm bus, which is often not the most convenient or pleasant. In any case, I would recommend Sprinter to most people, but be aware that your mileage may vary with this service (metaphorically, of course). Oh, and don't count on the wifi on these buses. read more

I am currently on my way back to VA from NYC. I've never taken a bus in my life before this past weekend, so I didn't have many expectations. I was apprehensive and extra cautious on choosing a bus line because all of the reviews for bus lines surely aren't lacking vitriol. Parking was a big factor in my decision to take Sprinterbus.net since I'm temporarily on the east coast with no friends/family to drop me off anywhere. Sprinterbus.net has been a great first experience. The gentleman at the VA hub was super energetic (owner?) and the gentlemen helping to load the bus were couteous. I experienced the same well mannered service at the NYC stop for my return. Departure and arrival were timely (1130pm left at 12am and arrived at 725am, 4pm left at 4pm and it's looking like an 1110pm arrival). Now the buses. Out to NYC we drove a Stouts branded bus. It was an older bus, AC outlets were located every other seat on the side, seats were what you would expect and lacked some lumbar support, wifi can be connected to but truely is unusable at the speed provided if you can connect (I messed with it for an hour). The bus back was another Stouts bus but new. AC outlets between all of the seat, lumbar support was great, clean, quite, no wifi again, but EXCELLENT ride otherwise. I'd definitely take Sprinterbus.net again! 4 stars is only due to the wifi being functionally unusable read more

Had to schedule a last minute trip. When I got to the bus pick up location, I confirmed and reconfirmed that I was getting on the right bus for where I was trying to go by asking the driver and other workers. Going so far as to be told by the bus driver himself that we were good to go and get on. We rode the bus all the way until the end only to discover that we were not on the right bus and that nothing will be done to help. So I was left stranded hours away from where I had to be. I've used sprinter bus twice in recent months and overall my experience was decent. Both times I used sprinter through Go To Bus service. The first bus was great. It was clean, had outlets and the wifi was good enough to use to download the rest of my movie that did not finish downloading. We arrived in NYC in good time, about 15-20 mins after the estimated time with traffic. My second experience with sprinter was not as good. The bus arrived 40 mins late due to the original bus breaking down. Apparently we got the back up bus because it had no wifi or outlets. And if you are traveling 7 hours from NYC to VA you know how essential at least outlets are. One good thing was that we still arrived at our destination at the estimated time while being 40 mins behind schedule and with traffic. Overall I would use them again because the price is really good either way. read more

PSA Update: I just used the website to book a round-trip ticket for a family member to come visit and noticed that the price is now $89 round-trip for members. Also the point system has changed to 340 points for a one way ticket. Only because of the fare staying the same no matter when you book the ticket and the convenient scheduling with only one stop in Dover will I continue to use this company. But honestly, the price gouging has to stop especially considering that service has not gotten any better nor have the coaches. read more

I wish there was a no star option... Absolutely worse customer and bus service ever. On 9/16 to 17 they left a bus load of people stranded in Onley, VA on a completely disabled bus. The driver at his own admission took the bus out knowing the bus wasnt running right. They refused to send help even though they had drivers sitting in empty vans watching tv at their base in Norfolk. Yes, I saw this with my own eyes as I drove by in route to Onley to pick up my family at 130am along with other family members who had to pay the$15. Chesapeake bay toll(both ways) and gas almost two hours away. I was absolutely appalled when I reached the bus and saw multiple passengers either sitting or laying on the ground. Avoid this bus at all costs. I bought a ticket for $44 and was charged an extra $40 in cash in the line by the check-in person just before the bus boarded, basically illegal extortion, for having a small dog in a bag. He blocked me from getting on the bus without greasing his hand first and then made a big scene about honest he was in the process. read more

The sprinter bus was pretty good. I loved that the bus ride was direct from one location to the other without layover. The seats declined nicely so I was able to get some rest. Bus in a tiny bit cramped. The bus was supposed to have refreshments but they were not offered. Would have been great for the bus driver to point out the WiFi , chargers, and other small details dealing with the bus ride. Overall would take again. All staff could work on greeting and directing passengers. read more

I purchased my ticket and as always the driver Sean stopped at a market in Delaware for the 15 minute break. I ran into the store and was out within 10 minutes.. The bus driver left me stranded in Delaware. I was hysterical not knowing where I'm at and alone, luggage, purse all of my belongings on the bus. I contacted the Manager and she placed me on hold, came back on the line to tell me that the bus driver refused to turn back and pick me up because he was too far into the highway and there was nothing she can do and hung up. Mind you this was at 4AM, no one cared that I was out there alone and this is a company that so call cares for their customers. My brother approached the bus driver and his response was that he counted 2 times. Obviously he didn't learn much in school because had he counted he would have realized that he was missing a person. Not to mention he gave my brother all of my belongings without asking for ID. I have reached out to the company via email, I have left several messages to no avail. I even sent them a letter and it was returned stating that it was undeliverable. so who and what else can I do.. They left me stranded sand didn't give a sh*t read more

I just used Sprinter Bus this past week. I took a 4pm bus from NY to VA Beach and it was horrible. There was no a/c, it was so hot and stuffy I could barely breath on the bus. There were outlets that just hung there, they didn't look safe at all and duct tape around the window. It was not a pretty sight. The only positive to the ride was that it was super duper fast. We left at 4pm and arrived by 10:30pm. I also had a return ticket to come back on the following Saturday at 11:30pm. That trip like the first was nothing but drama. First someone calls me and tells me the bus will be delayed until 1am. Really?? 1am?? Not having much of a choice I go and wait for my bus at 1....well then I find out the bus broke down and I will not be leaving VA. They also said they will not give refunds either. When alot of people started to protest and get loud they finally agreed to give us the option of rescheduling or a refund which I think is only fair. I still have not received my refund yet though. I think I may have to dispute the charge with my Credit Card company to really get my money. That really sucks. Instead of being stranded I had to jump on a Greyhound that Sunday at 6:30am just to get back home. Horrible!! That is the best word that can be used to describe my experience with Sprinter!! Never again. I'd rather take a stab at using a China Bus again. read more

Poorly operated business. Quick to book fares, and faster at leaving passengers stranded!!! My elderly spouse has been left stranded too many times by this company to the point that I am going to contact BBB, DOT, and will be consulting with an attorney. read more

As an amendment to what happened, a few days after this event, I got a personal call from the owner of the company apologizing for the situation and offering me a free ticket. I appreciated this and am hopeful that it was an isolated experience. I realize that these buses travel a lot and things happen. I will try this bus service again. --------------------- This is the worst experience I have ever had with a business. I have never taken a bus before for a trip but was excited to sleep on the overnight bus from NYC to Virginia Beach and at a very affordable price-35 dollars one way. I got to 33rd early to find the bus and waited by a bunch of trash bins in front of the Old Navy. A young guy came up to me eating a piece of pizza in plain street clothes. He said something to the effect of "hey, who are you and where are you going?" I didn't realize that he was checking me in so I ignored him at first thinking that I was being harassed. After a little bit I realized that he was checking me in. The bus arrived forty five minutes late with no explanation from the representative of why. No apology was given. I was ushered onto the bus. The driver said hi and was friendly. We were off on our way soon. There was no wifi or plugs but I didn't expect that for the price. I went to bed and put in my ear plugs as something was really squeeky and the bus was running really loudly. The bathroom smelled pretty foul and I was at the front of the bus. But still, I was able to sleep and the ride was smooth. At five am, in the dark, the bus stopped for no apparent reason. I heard the driver say thank goodness we didn't stop on the railroad tracks. When the sun came out around 7 am I saw that we were approx. 1-2 ft. from the railroad tracks. The driver and the bus rep were calm. Most people were still sleeping. They tried to fix the bus but it was clear that it wasn't going anywhere. They finally communicated to us that a bus and a mechanic as well as a tow truck were all on their way. We were told that a bus would be there in two hours. We waited four. When the bus finally came, we were ushered onto it and they said they were going to "check it." Two hours after that, they were fixing all the tires and doing lots of maintenance on this bus. No explanations. They did apologize for the situation and we all realized it wasn't the driver or the company rep's fault. No water or snacks were ever offered. 7 hours after we broke down, we got on our way again. We were dropped off at the office where nobody was present. Trying to call the office today has proved unhelpful. You would expect some sort of presence from the company after an event of this magnitude. The new bus that they sent us had temporary plates, a passenger mirror held up with tape and the emergency hatch held down by wire coat hangers. I would go so far as to say that taking the Go To Bus or Sprinter Bus could endanger you and others. That being said, the driver and the rep were helpful and calm. The communication wasn't the bus but I don't think that was their fault. Stay away. read more

Customer service is terrible, very unprofessional outfit. Customer service rep informed that we should check in at the Norfolk stop an hour in advance to ensure a good seat and there would be a dispatcher to check us in. 60 minutes AFTER the bus was to arrive, a shuttle appears to take us over to the Virginia Beach stop. Tried calling to find where the bus was, but their toll free number indicated the office was closed, and no one would answer the customer service line when dialed. Once we arrived at the Virginia beach stop, very disorganized, and the buses still weren't there. Seating by an arbitrary lottery system for a number - they apparently aren't given in order but the buses are loaded by number. If it weren't for the price, it'd have 1 star, but the low price earns it two. Don't expect anything beyond a cheap fare, you definitely get what you pay for. read more
