I really do not understand why the drivers are so rude. Please don't ever ask a question because they will try to make you feel like the dumbest, scum of the earth for not knowing their processes, procedures, and how long the stop will take. I thought it was just the driver that was driving me to DC. Then I realized the one driving me from DC to Raleigh is just as rude. So before scheduling your trip with Greyhound please listen to what I have to tell you. I scheduled my trip around the time to be at the Daytona speedway for the Daytona 500. Those that live in Florida understands that it rains and this weekend was no different. With that being said I had to make an adjust or attempt to atleast to my schedule. I initially asked to move the ride to earlier that evening. The fee was 60 bucks. Then I thought through some things and made the decision to change it back to my original scheduling and charged me a total of 200. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they could care less. All they say is I'm sorry sir and give no explanation as to why they do the things they do. I just unloaded on them about how filthy the buses and bus stations were, how analog the bus scheduling system is. I'm sure as long as people are willing to pay for this shitty transportation service they will continue to stay around. Another thing I couldn't stand are the long ass routes they take you. For instance I need to go fromDaytona Beach to Richmond. They took me from Savannah to Columbia to Charlotte. There was a transfer and one of the other buses were going to Raleigh. I wanted to try to talk the driver to see if I could get on that bus, but I know for a fact I would've been worse than pulling teeth. Also it's like 50 first dates with the drivers. So when they've seen you at the transfer and scan your ticket to get on the bus, and you go to stow your bag, you get back in line they've forgotten what you look like when they seen you two minutes ago so they have to scan your ticket again wasting everyone's time. Ugh!!! Overall I hope more people continue to give this company honest reviews to improve this company and also I hope this company markets itself as to not attract garbage clientele which is probably the reason for operating this way!!! read more

Worst and most dangerous experience of my life! They don't give credits or refunds for taking your money and herding you like cattle. Rude and yelling at 4am during a change. Bus broke down in the middle of nowhere, 6 HOURS off schedule, no body cares, bathroom like a port-a-potty, people coughing and sneezing without covering their mouths, bus freezing, no microwaves, rude attendants, drug users, no place for children, please be safe riding this death trap and don't expect to make it on schedule. Don't use greyhound ever. We took the bus from Charlotte NC to Washington DC and they made us get off and re-board the bus at every stop!!! They said it was to service the bus (clean and refuel) but the stops were only about 2-3 hours apart! After arriving 3 hours late to Charlotte, they made us get off at Raleigh NC for 15 minutes, then re-board. Then we got to Richmond VA and the layover was 45minutes to an hour long. If you have a time on your ticket, it might as well not mean anything. We were supposed to arrive to DC by 6:25 am and won't arrive until at least 8:30 am. On top of that, not everyone has a seat nor we're sitting in the assigned seat from their ticket! They are so unorganized & unprofessional. The service from the bus drivers was also rude. I understand they're tired themselves and probably overworked but that's part of the problem. The bus stations themselves are also dirty!! They stink. I would not recommend Greyhound for anyone, it is uncomfortable, unprofessional, and a hot mess! read more

This bus station was the worst transportation experience ever. Upon our return, we were greeted by a putrid urine aroma. There was no one to direct us, which was quite frustrating as we had never used this station before. There was old graffiti everywhere and all areas with food and entertainment were abandoned. You lost my child's bus!!!!! She's been sitting in a terminal for 3.5 hours. No one knows where the bus is. The people at the counter have no knowledge of where it is. The bus ride itself is 3 1/2 hours. I got transferred 4x's to a call center (maybe in India or at least that's the accent) where no one knows anything. Can't connect to the local bus station (Richmond). How did you lose a bus? There are actual tracking devices installed in your bus. There is GPS. Dispatch? Your poor employees have to feel like fools. Can you guarantee the safety of my child in your terminal and that she can find a ride back to a safe place if your bus never shows up? I took a trip from Richmond to Myrtle Beach to visit my daughter and then back home. The ride went well except for some the bus drivers were very rude to some of the passengers for no reason at all. They will snap at you for asking a simple question. Also the bus felt like it was 65° I know it was a warm day but thank God I packed a jacket and blanket on the bus. I felt sorry for a few people who had summer clothes on and that was it. They were all shivering and miserable. My aunt purchased the wrong time for a ticket (her mistake) and had to purchase another ticket. They didn't offer any statement credit for the cancellation and one person on the trip didn't go. Fine. So because she was traveling alone, she wanted to change her return ticket time. She had to cancel her return ticket AND purchase a new one. She ended up spending more money to and from Richmond than the cost of roundtrip airfare. I know it was her fault, but they could've at least waived a fee or offered a credit for a senior citizen. Yikes! You guys had me prepared for the worst at this Greyhound Bus Station, but everything turned out OK. Bought a ticket from Richmond to DC for $14 online (+ $2.50 credit card fee, I think). Staff at the station was friendly enough, and the bus was only about 10 minutes late. My bus happened to be really empty, so it was a nice and peaceful ride up. The power outlets didn't work on the bus, but the wifi did. Overall very few complaints for the price. read more

Half of the time, the drivers don't show up and it can be hours before they find a replacement drivers. Also, their refund policy is a joke and their prices aren't even cheap enough any more to justify such terrible service. Arrived at 10:30AM on 11/25/2022 at the Greyhound bus station on 2910 Arthur Ash Blvd with an elderly friend for her to catch the 11:30am bus back to Silver Springs MD. Bus station was extremely filthy. There was a long line of people with only one attendant behind the counter doing the best she could trying to assist. My elderly friend already had her ticket but received mixed info via email about departure time & wanted to verify. After making it up to the counter to verify, 11:30 am came & went w/o a bus. Inquiry to another Greyhound employee in uniform to ascertain was met with anger & disrespect at 11:55am employee man says, "Well, if they ain't called the bus yet, then it ain't here. I don't know when it's goin' be here. Just sit yourself down and wait. At approx. 11:50am, a bus pulled up & we inquired whether the bus was going on to Silver Springs, MD and Philly. A simple response of "No" would have sufficed; however the rude response was "If you ain't riding on this bus, then I don't know & I don't care where you going. You're not my concern". Another woman in line overheard his response & advised us where the bus was going. To make a long story short, my elderly friend did not get to board her bus to go to Silver Springs, MD till 12:40PM. Fortunately, this particular bus driver was a polite gentleman. The above incident was not our first encounter. Our elderly friend was initially scheduled to return to Silver Spring, MD from Richmond, VA on the 11:30am bus on Monday 11/21/2022. My sister brought her to the station at 10:45am. After 3:15pm, they were still waiting with no info about when the bus would depart. Owing to her age and health issues, my sister was unable to leave her there. We decided to reschedule for Friday 11/25/2022 at 12:30am. On both occasions, the bus station was filthy and smelled badly. Our elderly friend is not from this country. She is visiting the USA from Europe. We felt very badly that she experienced such negative service. We attempted to contact Greyhound customer service after the poor experience she received on Monday; however, we were advised by phone that Greyhound does not have anyone in customer service to speak to". My niece took a bus from NYC to Richmond last week. We will not be coming back to this station probably ever and I recommend no one comes to this place unless it's your ONLY option. It's very sketchy!! There was illegal transactions happening by the front entrance in the middle of the day as I was in the tiny parking lot waiting for her. The only reason I gave it a one star was because the bus from NYC was on time. But that's more a compliment to the driver not the station. Greyhound needs to shut this place down. read more

The stock photo that's currently the primary shot for this listing actually cracks me up. It's the stark opposite of reality. My friend dropped me off and picked me up, which was hugely helpful in my journey. I'd recommend getting a ride or an Uber if you must use this station. Both inside and outside are sad, dirty places. The Greyhound station in Philly puts this place to shame. I couldn't figure out where my bus would be boarding because signage is atrocious, nor did I know when it would actually leave. Online it was listed as on a delay, and their tracker helped guide me. I asked several folks sitting in the station if they knew where to find the schedule. Most blinked back at me with glazed eyes. I even asked three different people who were queued up. Either they couldn't understand me or they didn't know why they were lined up. I also walked up to the ticketing counter. Three out of the four ladies blatantly ignored my presence. I said "excuse me?" and one of them legit looked down at her cell phone and started texting instead of acknowledging me. There was no way she didn't hear or see me. I then just loudly asked my question ("any update on the bus to Philly's status?") and one of them told me to sit down and wait. Cool. An hour after the projected departure, we finally started boarding the outdated bus with no working outlets. The actual ride was miserable. It took forever, the bus was frigid (condensation on the vents and all), and the smell (between body odor, incessant coughs, and loads of sneezers) was truly rancid. I'm fairly certain some of my fellow riders had last bathed in 2014. I wish I had packed a candle. Or Lysol. Or both! I didn't arrive in Philly until after midnight that night. When I did, all I wanted to do was shower and swaddle myself in warm blankets. I hate driving, but Greyhound makes driving look like winning the lottery or adopting all the world's puppies. I've successfully used Greyhound before for shorter trips in other cities, but I know I won't use the Richmond hub again. Absolutely terrible. First off the place is extremely disgusting. The walls are dirty and it smells like piss everywhere. The bathrooms are super dirty. But my main complaint was the delay and staff at the place. I've traveled with Greyhound before but this location is absolutely irresponsible. There is NO ONE here to help. There is no staff in site. When someone eventually does come around; they are super rude and don't know how to answer any questions regarding the buses. We waited 7 HOURS for our bus to get here and there was no one answering questions or giving an explanation as to what was happening. This is just extremely irresponsible. Unbelievably dirty and disorganised. Some of the staff appear to be trying hard, but it must be such a disheartening place to work. The floors are grimy and sticky. The buses appear to run very haphazardly. The one I took from Silver Spring to Richmond on November 17 was an hour late without accurate information from the bus tracker. They actually suggested that the bus was not on their radar and wasn't coming. The return bus scheduled for November 22at 11:30 a m hadn't left at 3:30 pm when i rescheduled to leave on the 25th at 11:30. This bus left Richmond at 12:30. A number of buses appeared to have been cancelled without notice and people were being redirected on long and complicated routes with little explanation or apology. I give high praise to the bus driver who had apparently been asked to come in outside of his schedule and who behaved with consummate professionalism. That's why they get a star. We were given to understand that "customer service" - so-called have stopped responding to telephone calls. No wonder. They respond to reports on the website with exactly the same email, regardless of the complaint. They proudly display a charter, but one would be hard put to see even one point of adherence. read more

Omg I have never seen anything like this now running a business you would love for your place of business to be up to par. We walk in the front door the homeless have taken over the front entrance. You walk in they sleeping where ppl need to be sitting. The floors look disgusting I can imagine what the bathroom looks like. You have crazy looking ppl walking all around you have to hold on to your things extra tight. It's no schedule showing so you can know when your bus arrives. The staff needs more customer service training. No outlets works you can't charge anything up. We give credit when it is due. On July 28, 2023 8:55 am trip from 900 W Leigh to Greensboro NC was on point. When I was a little girl I use to take Greyhound, tagged of course. For those of you thinking that the price makes it worth the agony I can tell you it most certainly does not the vast majority of the time. When it comes to long distance travel you are never going to be on time and you will encounter the most disgusting kinds of people on your way. Just go on Amtrak and get on a train you'll thank me later. Also if you're headed to the Richmond Greyhound Station beware, that place is hell. There are almost no working outlets, the food is garbage, the employees (especially night shift) is made up of dicks and people that seem to know less than you do. Their drivers are never on time so you'll be waiting hours just to get back on your bus. Oh and if you're a woman forget it, hide in the bathroom if you can. If you have any kind of feminine shape you will get hit on, not lightly either, and stared down by customers and employees alike. I got into the bus station at around 11 o'clock at night. There was a five hour delay which wasn't really that big of a deal at first. Then we go to get our tickets changed and were you think that there's going to be a bus waiting for us. And then we find out that there is another six hour delay. It's fucking bullshit. This isn't my preferred method of transportation however it's cheap and gets me where I need to go. The station itself is essentially a large room with a central seating area and many side doors where people meet their busses. A ticket and information counter with a slow and long line can be found at the farthest end of the room. It's easy to navigate and see where everything is from anywhere in the facility. The waiting area has the cleanliness of a public restroom The bathrooms aren't the cleanest but they're tolerable (I don't cringe with horror when I open every stall door). They're usually on time and I haven't had any major issues with my tickets besides weather related delays. It's a pretty average greyhound station! read more

This bus station is one of the worse specially when there's no communication & leaving people stranded with no travel alternative. Calling the scheduling department is a nightmare because they could say one thing and in our mobile apps could say another and then when we get to the station specially after midnight people have to wait until 1:30am that an employee arrives with no information. This is s review of yesterday's bus trip from Roanoke, Va to Richmond. Bus Roanoke Terminal worn but clean. Restrooms like a roadside gas station with stained ceiling tiles and the smell of a urine cake. If you ever need a movie set for a bus movie set in 1985, I've got your back. No one smiles. People shuffle off the inbound bus sleepily for a short break in the station while they change drivers. Lots of smoking just outside the smudgy glass doors. People coming from the bus clutching empty McDonald's bags, crinkled at the top as though the food had been squeezed out of them like toothpaste. The men wear hoodies slouched down low over their eyes. Two lines. Those getting back on to the left, the rest of us to the right. We get on the bus. Two crying babies to my right. Coughing baby in front of me. Pulling out of the station 55 minutes late. Men in the back have been on for awhile together and have developed some inside jokes about a man named Tyrone. Beautiful winter day. Blue sky, bitter wind. Half eaten cookie on the windowsill. Animal cracker with pink icing. Little plastic bags that held their happy meal toys litter the floor. The joy was short lived. Operator Wilson came on the PA to tAlk about emergency exits and to tell people bound for DC that he hopes the transfer bus in Charlottesville waits for us, that is, if it is on time. The woman behind me is showing the college boy beside her her daughter's photo and offering to write down her name and phone number for him. While I was in the ladies room, a woman loudly exclaims "Welcome to the ghetto!" Sobering thought. They had plug-ins here for your electronic devices but they were way too high up on the wall. I barely got my cell phone charged & if my cord had been any shorter, the phone wouldn't have stayed put at all. Good luck finding seating away from people but if you're a writer, you'll likely end up talking to someone interesting. Thankfully, no one harassed me but it does have the feel of a place where a young woman would get harassed. Staff was friendly enough so if you don't know what gate your bus is taking off at, they're on it. One lady told me what gate I needed & I was just making sure I had the right one. I thought my 2 hour layover here would be endless but to my shock, the time did go by quickly. They also have a food place here but I didn't go so couldn't tell you how that is. read more

Without a doubt, the most annoying people we've encountered on this leg of our trip back home are here. Some of their staff are catcalling a woman behind the counter of the diner and the other guy behind the counter is egging it on. The Diner embedded in the station: The person at the counter took my order and I asked for the Philly Cheese Steak. He asked me if I wanted ketchup, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise. I told him, "No thanks." I thought it was weird but not an issue, some people put all kinds of condiments on their food. He than asked me what I wanted on it. I told him, "A standard Philly Cheese Steak was fine." He then said...we are in Richmond, not Philly. I said...it's ok if you don't have any left I'll order something else." He got irritated and got aggressive toward me. He asked me again how I wanted it. I replied: "like a normal Philly Cheese Steak. And then I pointed to the menu that said "Philly Cheese Steak," again enraging him. "I told you what you can get. I told you we are in Richmond." I replied. "No you didnt, you asked if I wanted ketchup, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on it...bro, a Philly Cheese Steak is thin slices of steak, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, and provolone cheese sauce melted on a soft hoagie." "We are in Richmond, not no fucking Philly!" "Well that's cool, do you know your menu says, Philly Cheese Steak? Dude...I don't think you do...just give me a hotdog, please." "Do you want ketchup, lettuce, tomato, or mayonnaise on that..." Some people just make stops at train stations difficult. I haven't taken a bus in a long time and wanted this trip to be more of a road trip and we chose an economical route for the event paying for our travel over driving ourselves. But stops like these are cringe worthy. Especially, with people yelling at each other at the top of their lungs trying to get a woman to agree to his advances. It went on for a while. Next time...we'll take a train... The place is clean and the hotdog was good. But the people are just rude and ovnoxious. read more

I have only heard not so great things Greyhound buses but I tend to be one of those people to at least give it a shot before I make my own decisions/judgements about the establishment. We needed to get to Union Station from Richmond and Greyhound had the most available time slots and affordable prices. It was 30 bucks for me and my gf so it was a solid deal. The Greyhound station itself is a little small and hasn't seen an update/face lift in probably 15+ years. It doesn't look run down or anything, it just looks dated. The place isn't necessary clean either, especially the bathrooms. But luckily we weren't there for long. We came about 30 minutes before our bus was supposed to depart and we were able to find seats right next to each other on the bus which was a plus. Your confirmation doesn't state what line you need to wait in so you'll have to ask an attendant which line you need to be in. If we had to stay here for an extended amount of time I would not be a happy camper. Affordable prices, the bus left on time and the bus itself was relatively clean so it was a good bus line for me. I am not aware of any overnight parking or extended parking hours as we were both dropped off by friends. read more

I had a 90 minute early morning layover here en route to Norfolk. I have to say that the terminal itself is not a bad space. It was a bit too cold for me at times but that's it. There was plenty of available seating. I don't remember much about whether there were vending machines or places to eat. It was 5:30a and all I wanted to do was sleep and be warm. My bus arrived and departed on time. The guys were good about loading the luggage back beneath the bus and the ticket taker/driver was polite and courteous. My round trip ticket was under $100 and I had an itinerary that was strictly adhered to, a well rested bus driver and a comfortable seat with two charging outlets. So the trip was 10 hours and I had a layover, no big deal. I would ride out of this location again. read more

Booked round trip ticket Richmond, VA to Newark, NJ. Disgusting and filthy bus station in Richmond. Bus late and Driver not properly trained to drive a motor coach. Constantly hitting gas pedal and braking short. Nauseating smell. Such a horrible experience, we're renting a car for our return trip. Greyhound should be ashamed. I would give negative stars. First I must say this station/ hub is smaller than the one in New York City, which I appreciate. It's easier to hear the driver's announcements. The restrooms are located opposite of the vending machines. It was semi clean, it didn't smell, and everything worked in there so... There is a restaurant located to the far left as you walk in the station (or opposite end of the information/ ticket desk). The food wasn't bad at all according to my sister and niece. There's a smoking area outside on the same side as the restrooms. The signal board did not correspond with actual departures. However, the verbal announcements by the drivers were on point. Upon arriving at this hub/ station several passengers sitting in the station were complaining about sitting there since 8am. Being that it was 3:30pm I started to worry about my bus transfer to Williamsburg from here. I quickly did an estimate with Uber and was planning on using an Uber as my backup plan just in case. An  Uber would have cost me $54. I would rather spend $54 to get where I need to go then to spend seven hours in a hub with my nine year old son crossing my fingers and toes hoping for a bus to show up. About 10 minutes into being at this station I came across two young ladies, they couldn't be more than 20 years old, who were stranded because their bus left a few minutes early (according to the Greyhound staff). They were trying to get to New Jersey. Being that I am from New York City I told them their best bet was to take the next bus to New York City and then take public transportation to New Jersey. After three hours of them being there they found my solution extremely helpful. Soooo I am happy to report my Williamsburg bound bus was on time and departed as scheduled yay. Before boarding the bus the driver checked our state ID to make sure it matched our printed paper ticket. The bus was visually clean and odor free. The seats were in immaculate condition. There were only eight people on the bus in which six of us were going to Williamsburg and two to Norfolk. This was the best 1 hour ride ever. The driver was respectful and cool. His rules were: to keep your phone conversations short and low, put all phones on vibrate, and play your music with headphones and everything would be cool and smooth. They need more drivers like him. I wish when I was coming from NYC half the passengers would have abided by those rules. I can say this ride from Richmond to Williamsburg was a huge success. Will this change my mind about trying Greyhound again? Maybe, maybe not, but I might consider using a different bus company from NYC next time even if it is more expensive. I'm starting to think that the saying "you get what you pay for" might ring true in some cases. This concludes my review on the Richmond Greyhound experience. This review is of the Richmond bus station. It is the dirtiest, nastiest place. The bathroom stunk. There was no toilet paper at all. Trash everywhere. Vending machines only for food- maybe that's a good thing- at least it's packaged and behind glass. I don't see any Greyhound employees so I have no idea how the station is run. Awful! read more

This bus station just needs a new staff.. i hate the overlay it shouldn't be a 2hr wait just for them to "finish cleaning the bus" this isn't a airplane and the employees should talk to their customers kind and make them want to visit again. read more

I booked a direct bus from NYC to NC. However, I experienced a 3 hour delay from New York Port Authority with no notification of delay. The ground crew had no clue what was happening, the online tracker wasn't updated, and customer service was not helpful. My direct bus then stopped in Richmond VA and I didn't get on another bus for another 6 hours. Unless I get exemplary customer service, I will never ride with Greyhound again. read more

Never again!!! You would think that a company that's been around for more than 100 years could be trustworthy and communicate well with their customers. Nope! The bus was 3 hours late in arriving and when we ask the person at the ticket counter on status they didn't know what was going on. Same when I would call the their 800 number. I've traveled on OurBus.com many times and you're able to track the bus even before it picks you up. Greyhound's tracker on the website does not work. How do they lose a bus and not be able to get in contact with the driver?? Makes ZERO sense. read more
