A spectacular physical building located in the downtown area of Raleigh NC. The problem is the directions very ambiguous as US 70 encompasses wake forest and Raleigh.My husband and I finally asked someone for directions - we almost passed it as it sits back on the road but it's a large building with the greyhound logo above. There are parking spaces to wait for someone as was my case 2 hour limit strictly monitored for towing. There are places for the buses to pull in for loading and customers to get off. My family member came from Richmond Va. He said the bus left on time. He prepaid & selected his seat. The bus left on time the driver was courteous. The bus arrived 15 minutes past expected time which I thought was pretty good. My relative said the bus stopped at several places but it was a great ride. read more

Greyhound Bus completely ruined my trip. We were supposed to catch a bus from Rocky Mount to Raleigh, then Raleigh to Charlotte. The bus from here was going to be 3 hours late, so we would miss our concert. I had to Uber to Charlotte, and thought "well at least we will get our $260 back to help cover this" NOPE they sent us a voucher saying "Yall can sell it! its worth about $100!" really Greyhound Bus, is this how you treat your disabled patrons? This was the most absolutely horrifying and disgusting place I have literally ever seen in my entire life. There were crackheads, people smoking weed, reeked of stale alcohol and body odor. The entire station was so filthy I literally have no words. The toilets were filled to the brim and overflowing with sh*t so they closed them down. There was NO WHERE to go to the bathroom!!! I was stared at, people followed me making inappropriate comments and slurring/mumbling. People were literally passed out on the floors. There were people with what seemed to be mental illness, touching me and saying strange things. I then had a man FALL IN MY LAP and start screaming in my ear about someone "dying in his house" over and over!!! I went outside and it was NO better. The vapes and cigarette smoke was blowing all in my face. I literally couldn't escape to ANYWHERE!!! There was not ONE bench or anywhere to sit outside so I sat in a curb with my luggage and almost got run over by the septic truck that came to drain out the toilets. I ended up going back inside and literally tried not to ball my eyes out. I had to use the restroom SO badly I thought I was going to throw up the entire time and I honestly wanted to die!!!! I wish this wasn't a real review but it absolutely is! I don't even think there are words in the English language to use to describe this HELL HOLE and speaking of hell, I would have taken a fast track train to there if I had had that option as it would have been WAY better than stepping foot in that Raleigh bus station. I literally had my head on a swivel the entire time. It was NOT SAFE in any way and absolutely deplorable in EVERY SINGLE WAY! Well I finally rode the bus myself and this is not something I will do again. It's after midnight and bus has departed Richmond to " refuel". How is this possible after driving only 2 hours after arriving late in Raleigh ? The worst part about this station is there is no communication about anything. About arrival times, why the bus is departing with our luggage ? I honestly want a full refund and to go back home. I regret not driving to New York myself. I bought a ticket plus an extra seat for a trip to Raleigh NC from Winston Salem NC. Upon boarding I noticed the bus was overflowing with passengers and that there were not enough seats. People were stretched out and taking up seats that were not theirs. I was informed by some passengers that the situation was going on since boarding at previous sites. I tried to find a seat only to be told "seat taken"! I informed the driver and the customer service line. I paid 30 plus dollars for the original seat plus another. I was told that I could only receive a voucher for around 10 dollars and some change. I did not take the trip because I could not sit down and felt unsafe. Worse drivers ever. I wound up missing my bus because the bus driver refused to scan my QR code of my ticket and didn't bother asking me for my name to check her list of passengers. She just assumed she wasn't my bus even when I told her I was going to one of her destinations which is port authority in New york city. The worker inside said she was my bus. I chased her down, she refused to open the door, refused to actually scan my QR code to make sure I wasn't on the bus or anything. There was no food, snack or anything inside or around the bus terminal. The next bus wasn't till Tuesday the same week. The next day. Don't travel with them. Aweful and Unprofessional experience. My sister bought 2 tickets in NYC, to board in Manhattan at 2:30am on Friday mornin. She and her daughter were coming to North Carolina to visit me. They arrived at the station at 1:30am, 1 hr early. The bus that was scheduled for 2:30am was cancelled then they said it would leave at 5am, then that bus was cancelled. They said the next bus wouldn't leave until 3:30pm, which is a 13 hour delay from the originally scheduled bus. She went to the counter and asked the customer service for her money back, while on the phone with me, she was told they only can give a voucher, NO MONEY BACK!!!! WTH!!! This is unacceptable and absolutely unprofessiona!!!! This place needs to be closed down with such poor service. She attempted to call customer service and couldn't get anyone on the phone. A small claims lawsuit will be looked at. Also reaching out to the NYC attorney general office as well, to file a civil complain for poor unethical business practice. THE WORST TRAVEL EXPERIENCE!!! They still at this moment are trying to reach customer service on the phone, and have been trying for since 3:45am it's now 5:30am. Still no bus and no customer service answering the phones. Worst travel experience of my life, Oct. 2023, Raleigh, NC. 2 other busses were down, we brcame the 3rd. I gave my ticket & boarded. The driver the said something was wrong so "get off the bus go back in the station." Three hours later we were still sitting there with no solid info from Greyhound that we'd get out that night. People were scared they'd have to stay the night. My son had to drive 4 hours round trip to rescue me with babies in the car. Greyhound wont refund my ticket because they say I used it. I've travelled by bus quite a bit in North America and other countries, and this is definitely the worst bus station in the USA. There are no signs in the station telling you when buses might arrive, or even what buses have arrived for boarding. My bus was delayed for hours so I was stuck here a while, and the whole time there was never anyone at the counter, even though it was midday on a Saturday. The people who did work there, milling around the parking lot, seemed kind of crazy. A very badly run, chaotic station. So this is my 1st time ever riding greyhound and honestly I recommend just flying or taking Amtrak. This was the WORST traveling experience ever. Both my trips got cancelled and delayed. Place was mad ghetto. Customer service from the receptionist was dog sh*t. Place smelled like sh*t. My trip was delayed by 2 hours and after the bus didn't show up it got cancelled. Amtrak is MUCH more comfortable in coach than Greyhound is. Plus ZERO traffic. For those who can afford it, there are also private bedrooms called roommettes that you can book on the train. Highly, highly recommend for overnight travel and much preferred over flying and dealing with the TSA! read more

Only had to travel on it for an hour to Fayetteville and it was the longest hour of my life. Very hot and driver would not turn the air on, it smelled, people were arguing on the bus, and it was just all around uncomfortable. I was lucky and the next bus I transferred onto was sooooooo much better and no longer served by Greyhound. It was like heaven after getting off that Greyhound bus which was torture. In 2014, the greyhound Raleigh location has moved three miles outside of town to this "new" building on a six lane highway called Capital Boulevard, devoid of helpful transit connections. They must have mitigated most of the overcrowding, because Greyhound no longer even serves downtown Raleigh, as their former Jones St location has been sold off for 4 million dollars. This is another in a gradual series of disappointments for the company. They keep moving in another direction, instead of improving upon existing service. Now that I can't use Greyhound to access downtown Raleigh, or intermodal connections with Amtrak to other points in the state, I find the Raleigh stop to be useless as a destination and have avoided using Greyhound to get to NC since the move. In articles pertaining to the move, Greyhound management has indicated that "it doesn't matter" where this location is because they view it merely as an intermediary between other routes. And that is a shame because it will just further discourage local people from using their service unless they really have no other resort. And the bus no longer serves as a boost to the local economy because most people are just passing through the middle of nowhere and going quick as they can somewhere else, which is not that fast anyway. read more

Arrived here from Richmond and had an awful experience. Bus arrived with only a couple of minutes to spare between my next bus. After hustling to grab my luggage from the bus of people who are still mostly heading to Savanna, I dashed around trying to find my bus to Greensboro. Couldn't find. I walk up to the desk and ask what gate the Greensboro bus would be. He takes my 9:55 AM ticket, looks at his friend, and confirms that I should be in Gate B for the 10:30. I wait for the 10:30. Turns out it's going to Harlem. Something I learned only by waiting half an hour and going outside to board the bus. Furious (as it has been numerous hours of sweaty travel at this point), I walk up to the desk again and ask why I was told to go stand in that gate line. The man pretended to be confused and turned to the bus captain - in the highlight yellow jacket - who runs around announcing bus departures, then blames me for my incompetence for not hearing his multiple calls for the 9:55 bus. Calls that I weren't around to hear. The desk guy then told me a ticket from Raleigh to Greensboro would be an additional $20. After fighting with him about this, we called the manager over, and before he even spoke I just asked when the next bus would be. It was at 9:50 PM that night. An almost complete half day later. Luckily, I'm from NC and my family members were able to drive up and get me. But come on! Why can't the U.S. have a reliable bus service? And why the victim blaming? And why no numbered gates with city departure times and cities!? Port Authority in New York has at least the cities labeled on their gates. I'm coming from New York on a trip. I originally took the $40 Atlanta to Allen St (Chinatown) bus - getting on at Charlotte. That bus was an hour and a half late, had pick up in an Exxon parking lot, and had rude people and shady service. Yet, it was a solid 12 hours of travel - troubled as the ride was. Greyhound rides are more luxurious, but they include more transfers and stops. This wouldn't be a problem of each stop wasn't its own challenge. And this Raleigh challenge was one that will guarantee I won't return. read more

Very unfortunate experience with Greyhound during Hurricane Florence. I purchased a ticket to Richmond that was meant to be leaving this morning. I arrived at the bus station only to see a sign in the window stating that there were no buses going out until further notice. My ride had already left and there were several other people milling about, unsure about what to do. I called Greyhound customer service and found out that the bus I had booked was cancelled. Now I have absolutely no issue with Greyhound cancelling service for safety reasons. My issue is that Greyhound does not seem to have a notification system in place to inform customers regarding service delays or cancellations. For the rest of the transportation industry, airlines and trains, such notification seems to be standard practice. In addition, the station lacked clear signage-the station was closed and it turned out that the station was not going to be open until 2pm. Why not post a sign posting up to date schedule information and opening hour? What's up Greyhound? Your customer service was friendly, but your systems need to improve. read more

My most recent experience with greyhound is an unfortunately and absolutely avoidable one. Since purchasing a non-refundable ticket to meet my family at a destination for Thanksgiving, the quality of life of a family member fighting cancer has rapidly deteriorated to the point of being bed ridden with excruciating pain, even after multiple treatments and surgeries. My heartfelt and loving family collectively decided to go visit him instead of the destination, as he can't travel and this may be the last time many of us sees him alive. I contacted Greyhound and the automated phone system said to go to my local station for fastest service, or mail in my ticket in asking for a refund. At this local station they said I had to call a different number, and mail my ticket. The folks at the station thought id get a refund, given my circumstances. The phone representatives said the only thing I can do with my non-refundable ticket is pay $20 to change the time. After much explanation and speaking with her supervisor, the same thing was reiterated to me: that that is my only option. My significant other tried on two other occasions and was given the same info. I am distraught and disgusted that in a time of emotional upset from unforeseen family circumstances of the worst variety (family member dying of cancer), Greyhound is doing absolutely NOTHING to help me out, other than say I can PAY THEM more money to change the time of a trip that has dissolved into nothing. And just to get to the point of speaking on the phone with a representative was difficult and not straightforward. The folks at my local station seemed to think I could get a refund, given my circumstances. No customer should have to work so hard to contact the service department. I am incredibly disappointed. When I've taken greyhound in the past, my experience has been 'ok', 2 to 3 star ok. I felt safe and the buses were decently clean. I arrived at my destinations. The drivers were mostly friendly. This station in Raleigh is small and like most other small ones I've been to: decently clean, kinda happy employees.. kinda. On the negative side of all my experiences, all the buses were late. I understand traffic and station dealings, however the company gives you no indication of updated departure times.. at any time, anywhere. It is a disorganized affair during transfers. With the signage and info I had at hand, I still had to ask multiple people where to sit and wait to catch the appropriate buses. The use of paper tickets, which you can only print on one side, is dated and inconvenient for most passengers. The company could do A LOT to increase ease of transport and customer service. Such things would include, easier ways to contact live customer service, being empathetic and accommodating to family emergencies, use of electronic ticketing, and creating a greyhound bus application for real time tracking, time estimates, and clear directions on how to locate each of your transfers. After my latest dealings with Greyhound, I plan to seek out any and all other means of travel. The cheaper price is just not worth the extended travel times, lack of present day conveniences (time updates and information), and inflexibility when extenuating family circumstances arise (which, dear god I hope aren't often for anybody). read more

I felt really uncomfortable traveling from this location on greyhound. The station is extremely confusing and disorganized and it is probably one of the sketchiest places I have been to (including in SF, LA, San Diego and even india). I was traveling alone as a young woman and my boyfriend left feeling very uncomfortable and worried as well. They don't have a great system for calling out which bus is leaving so it seems really easy to miss your bus, especially since everything is a minimum of 30 minutes late. I would spend the extra 5 bucks and time to take the megabus out of Durham next time. Ultimately I ended up just letting my $18 go to waste and booked my trip home on megabus because there was no way I wanted to take the bus home at night! read more

I have heard great things about this bus line and had a great experience from Washington DC and through Richmond, however, when we reached Raleigh, North Carolina this changed. The unnecessary rude attitudes that came from many of the staff at this location would make me not ever ride with this bus line again. We were all given limited information on how and why we passengers were needed to get off the bus to switch drivers and then required two more tickets to get back on the bus, none of which was communicated to us to begin with. Luckily, my friend was able to get back on the bus to get my ticket but during this experience I have never been spoken to so rudely by employees before. Even when I was getting back on the bus three employees were talking about me while I walked by stating with an attitude that I "would never forget my ticket again as long as she is the driver". Personally, I do not like to have people make rude comments to me as I walk by, especially since I am paying for this service they are providing. Additionally, the driver was extremely rude to a mother trying to feed her hungry baby and made her move the baby and all of her things to the back of the bus right when she was about to begin feeding. Overall, the unnecessary rudeness of the employees at this particular Raleigh stop have made me question if I will ever ride with greyhound again, and will most likely buy a plane ticket to fly home instead. I understand that we look like young girls traveling alone, however that doesn't not give anyone an excuse to act like they are superior than me and allowed to talk down to me. I have travelled by many forms of transportation alone including train and plane and know how to handle myself. read more

Greyhound has got to do better. For starters, their busses are bumpy, noisy and passengers get little to no direction from station employees - nor care. The lack of respect for their customers is apparent with hours layovers in dirty, dark and unequipped bus stations in different cities where all passengers are forced to exit the bus and then may or my not hear or be given the right direction to get back on the correct bus. These stations are poorly lit, there is no consideration for personal hygiene needs in the bathrooms such as brushing teeth, etc - for example the one in Raleigh, NC doesn't even have a mirror at the sink - let alone any shelf of any kind. The overhead luggage space is so tight it takes muscle just to fit a bookbag. The only reason I give this company 3 stars is out of the 5 different busses we've ridden with Greyhound their DRIVERS seem to care about their passengers. Just do better Greyhound! Start with providing seats that don't cut into your skin when you are forced to wait in the station between bus driver/bus changes - and provide enough seating and spaces for waiting passengers! And for heavens sake clean the floors or revamp them! And Change a light bulb - maybe even consider something other than flickering fluorescent vitamin-stealing, soul-dampening lighting. Do. I was traveling from VA to GA and was kicked off the bus in Raleigh, NC 27604 located at 2210 Capital Blvd. The bus manager is whom I'm filing a complaint on as I got off the bus i had removed my mask to smoke a cigarette I wasn't completely paying attention so and I was about to walk into the building without my mask I was told by the bus manager I couldn't go in without my mask I said okay and proceeded to walk on the side of the gate by the building being as though I was going outside anyways to smoke he then started yelling and screaming don't let her back on the bus I turned around to walk back and nobody would talk to me everybody acted as if what took place was caused so much disrespect I got so upset I had to dial 911 to handle the situation the officer that arrived on scene was Hazzard 4254 took my statement as well as the managers and came back to inform me I couldn't get back on that bus but I can get on a new bus at 7:15pm I was confused on what the difference between this bus or the next bus was but to avoid problems I said okay then once I got to the desk to get a new ticket the bus manager proceeds to tell me I have to pay $20 to get back on a bus that I shouldn't of even been kicked off away Ive been in customer service for 15 years Ive spent alot of money with this company through out the years this was completely unacceptable this is what happens when you give power to people who don't deserve it they abuse it read more

Twice now I've trusted Greyhound to safely transport me across the country. While I made it safe and sound, my luggage never has. The first time I took Greyhound was in 2012, I went from Portland, OR to Raleigh, NC - ALL of my luggage was lost. It took them a little over two weeks to find and recover my luggage. However unfortunate, they didn't have the decency to contact me when my luggage was found, despite me having left my phone number with several attendants and on my baggage itself. Not to mention, my bags had 'Special Handling' tags, which meant they were to be handled and transferred by the employees Thankfully they were recovered. This time around, however, my fiancee and I recently traveled with them (December 2014) from Phoenix, AZ to Raleigh, NC. Due to my past experience, we decided it'd be better to skip those 'Special Handling' tags and just transfer them ourselves, to keep an eye on them ourselves. Each of us had one suitcase and they lost his somewhere between Burmingham, AL and Atlanta, GA. No stops were made anywhere in between the two destinations but, every employee refused to listen when we told them this; they stuck to their guns "It's not uncommon for bags to be pulled off the bus and put on a later bus when you make stops. Wait until you get to your final destination and see if it's followed you there." Growing tired of sounding like broken records, we did just that. Upon arriving at our destination, I went to the counter and answered every asked question about the bag - it hadn't arrived yet. Irate at this point, my fiancee and I went ahead and headed home to wait the 24-hours they said it takes to locate a lost bag. After being placed on hold for upwards for 20-30 minutes and ignored several other times, we were finally told that our bag hadn't arrived yet. Now we've been trying to file a claim but, they've basically been refusing to exercise our right to do so, the right to claim OUR luggage. Along the way we had a discussion with one of the drivers, he informed us that it's not uncommon for passengers, as well as drivers, to have their baggage stolen by people just passing by or other passengers while they unload everyone's luggage. My fiancee and I WATCHED them load our bags onto the bus in Burmingham but, they never made it to Atlanta with us. I understand (don't necessarily agree with but, do understand) that they'll some times pull bags off to make room for others and they'll arrive a little later. However, I don't understand the irresponsibility of their employees. What's the point of having 4 or 5 people unload bags if not a single one of them is going to check baggage numbers to ensure the safety of their passenger's belongings, let alone a driver's? I don't understand the audacity their employees have to go as far as IGNORING a CUSTOMER who has paid hundreds of dollars to ensure the safety of themselves AND their belongings. After all of this, my fiancee and I decided it'd be best to check on our only bag left at every stop, just to make sure it's still there. So we did. In Charlotte, NC, however, we went to go check on our bag and an employee had the audacity to YELL at us to keep our hands out from beneath the bus after refusing to pull it out for us to check the tag and make sure it was ours. Four days later, I'm STILL trying to file a claim for a bag that may have been stolen right out from beneath their noses while my fiancee and I were trying to get off the bus and grab our bags to transfer them ourselves. The drivers are extremely rude and hate to answer questions the passengers have. If you work in customer service, it is expected that you will have passengers with questions and they should receive their answers without nasty attitudes from the drivers. Greyhounds are the worst. They're busses are almost always delayed, and they don't even bother to alert ticket holders of changes. I had no idea my bus had broken down and was almost 6 hours late until I showed up at the station. Then they don't act the slightest bit apologetic about the circumstance, and don't take your unhappiness seriously at all. You can't even rely on the bus tracker to see the status of your trip because often times the info is inaccurate or unavailable. Just an overall massive pain in the ass. read more
