I went through Cincinnati on both ends of my trip in June. The first time, I arrived very late coming in from Lexington. I was worried that I'd totally missed my connection in Cincinnati. When I arrived, not only did I discover they had held my connecting bus until my group arrived, but there were plenty of staff members walking around making sure everyone knew where they were headed next. I was very pleased, considering what I had heard about this bus station previously. My return featured a schedule 2 hour layover. Bus stations aren't very exciting by nature. All we can ask is that the bathrooms are clean and there are places to eat. I had heard horror stories about the Cincy bathroom, but when I used it, I had no problem with its appearance. There is also a little cafe/food station that has the typical fare. Naturally, it has higher prices than usual, but I was able to get a sandwich, a drink and a giant cookie for around 10 dollars. When you're traveling long distances on a bus, having bus stations that are staffed with informed workers, have a place to eat and decent bathrooms is vital. Cincinnati had them. I have no problem with this place. read more

Filthy bus with food crumbs everywhere, a bathroom you can smell immediately after entering the bus, and seats with hard metal pieces jutting out. Only pluses are employees who are very helpful (especially to newbies like me), low ticket prices and easy access to outlets. read more

This was the worst travel experience ever. I purchased a ticket to travel from Cincinnati to Columbus on July 20th. The bus was supposed to leave at 6:15 pm and arrive in Columbus at 8:15 pm. I got to the bus station 20 minutes early as suggested. Found the line to board the bus, and waited. After standing on the line for 35 minutes, one of the workers came out and said they didn't have a driver, and there would be at least 1 hour wait before a driver could get there. Since I had an hour or so to kill, I decided to purchase a snack, went to the vending machines, and none of them were accepting cash. Because I didn't want to swipe my card for a $1.25 purchase, I decided to go to the fast food counter. The worker was so busy talking to another worker and was just letting the line build, when customers were asking him questions, he just kept talking and totally ignored the customers. After some time, I was able to buy a banana. The hour passed, and the missing driver was nowhere to be found. I missed my dinner commitment with my work team, and was still stuck at this dirty and dingy bus station. After about 1.5 hours of waiting, I decided to go ask the one person that was floating around, and he responded that there was no update. NO UPDATE??? What kind of business is Greyhound running? How are they still in business? So now it's 8 pm, and I'm still sitting at this bus station with little to no hope of getting out of there. I was finally able to gather 5 other people and shared a Lyft to Columbus.. we all got our refunds and ended up leaving the bus station around 8:45 pm. NEVER EVER AGAIN. Greyhound has lost my respect as a serious company and my business for the rest of my life. The unprofessional, and unapologetic attitude of the workers and company is appalling. Trying to find location to pick up disabled son in Cincy. No answer at Greyhound Terminal for several hours Friday March 6th. Tried the Corporate Office and their Customer Service numbers. ................. On hold with NEVER an answer on the Customer SERVICE (piss poor) number and only a robo answering machine at corporate. So much for info. His ticket does not list the pickup location and multiple addresses are depicted online. Driving from 3 hours away on slick roads at 4 a.m. with little hope of finding assistance between now and his arrival time of 6:45 a.m. read more

I arrived at the station 35 minutes early to make sure I was prompt and ready. They scheduled a driver two long drives back to back. So once the driver got here, already being an hour late, they had her take another hour break. I get that, she had to be tired and hungry. But it was ridiculous how no one knew what was going on and we boarded over two hours later than scheduled. That is unacceptable. If I wanted to get home at 8pm instead of 5pm, I would've taken the next bus, but that would be a $20 fee for cancelling, plus another $45 one way to catch the next bus. Anyway, half the people on the bus were complaining they will be missing weddings, birthdays, concerts, whatever they were leaving for. I get it, things happen. But this was terrible. read more

Horrible customer service and impractical policies- my grandmother tried to order a ticket and switched her origin and destination, and the customer service reps were absolutely impossible to work with even though she noticed almost immediately. I spent most of my afternoon bouncing around to different phone representatives, who not only refused to swap the origins, but also claimed they could not even REBOOK so that we could leave from the proper destination. I live in Virginia Beach and the amount of time it takes to get too Kentucky is 9hrs . The greyhound services ? Four buses , six stops , and more service stops that were not announced that weren't even included on the website for my trip later and yet I'm still not in Kentucky . I left August 9th at 1:15pm it is not August 10th 10:49am and I have no clue as to what is going on . Their customer service at the information center is always LESS than willing to help you . They have no one ready and available to answer any questions that you have . All the employees seem to have an attitude and lack the communication skills necessary to get people to where they need to be . This is my first time using this services and I booked a ticket home with them as well . I immediately tried to cancel that trip because I realized how horrific this experience is beginning to be and yet I've been informed (after the fact never when purchasing) that all tickets are non refundable. I literally am spending $146 to go into the trash because I refuse to get back on another on of their buses. No one is giving me answers when I call the help center . This is just horrific it makes it even worse when the people are rude . Do not use this service , they will not be helpful , they are not kind , they are not clean , there is no organization , and anyone who is suppose to be here to help take entirely to long to see you to the point where you have to roll the dice and figure it out yourself before you miss you bus . I've sat here an hour now at a station that was not even listed as a stop between Columbus, Oh and Kentucky . Trash experience and watch I won't even get a phone call for this long ass review I'd be doing on them because they DO NOT GIVE A DAMN . read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I feel like suing. My son is on his way back to college. He is taking Cincinnati to Columbus to Pittsburgh. Cincinnati station is awful. Completely understaffed. He waits in line for two hours to get his ticket (yes we should have printed it off at home). His bus is 2 hours late because of not enough drivers. He gets on another bus. Gets to Columbus and the bus has left of course. He has to wait 7 HOURS in the bus station for the next bus. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. It is not an option for me to fly him. So I will be driving him to Columbus in the future to avoid this. This is a 3 hour drive for me (6 total). read more

Let me start off by saying that I have always been skeptical of negative 1-star reviews. I've always written them off as a customer being dramatic or entitled, or that the customer was complaining about something that he should have known or been prepared for. However, Greyhound has truly shown me that, yes, you CAN have the worst service of your life! During the wteather cancellations (which were, of course, not Greyhound's fault) this past week, Greyhound continued to sell ALL available tickets to EVERY CANCELLED trip. On their "service alerts" page, they had a disorganized list that stopped being updated on January 5. They continued to sell tickets to these cancelled routes from Jan 4-Jan 7. There was no way to reach customer service or any other number provided by Greyhound. The Facebook page administrators copied and pasted the same messages to every post written by people who, like me, could not find ANY answers anywhere. So, I lost a lot of money paying for trips that were never even going to exist. Upon demanding a refund, since I don't have an open schedule like Greyhound seems to think all of their customers do, they told me that, unless you are rescheduling the same trip to the next available date (which, in my case, was 3 days later -- and not even needed anymore, since I chose to fly after these ridiculous cancellations), you do not get a penny back. For those of you who want a cheap ride, I invite you to think twice. Sure, my circumstances were very specific and probably not wide-spread, especially in warmer months, but the customer service and the completely unfair refund policies make Greyhound one of the most terrible companies I've ever wasted money on. Never, ever, ever having anything to do with Greyhound again. read more

I had the absolute worst trip. I have taken greyhound several times but never again. My partner and I were traveling back home after a holiday visit and our first bus was three hours late. We had the absolute worst driver I have ever dealt with. ( Route #1514 Bus #6384 Dallas to Nashville) He took my boyfriend's ticket at one stop and then almost would not let him back on because he didn't have the ticket that he had taken previously. I had to get off of our bus and go inside to print a new ticket for him to reboard. He had a horrible attitude towards us the rest of the ride, Would not answer anyone's questions. Then he stopped at a Popeyes two blocks past station in the middle of the road clogging traffic and left all the passengers on the bus while he went in. Almost left a passenger at a stop because the driver had given his seat to a new passenger the bus which he had no room for. Several people where unable to get on there scheduled bus because greyhound had overbooked there busses. Left about 10 people overall waiting on another bus. When we got off of that bus we had a five hour layover in Cincinnati where the mens bathrooms were literally covered in feces. It was all over the stall walls and floors, the toilet paper was all pulled off the rolls and strung everywhere. Several people informed employees and nothing was done for hours when a passenger had to clean it up because he got tired of waiting for someone to clean it. People had to take napkins from the "restaurant" area to bathrooms because no one would replace the toilet paper. There where several homeless people inside begging for food/money/cigarettes. One of which proceeded to go outside and drink I beer and wander aimlessly around the outside of the terminal. And even though our last bus started in Cincinnati and the driver was there 45 minutes prior to what was supposed to be our boarding time we still left almost a hour late.. I will not be riding with greyhound again this was absolutely ridiculous. read more

Wouldn't let my 17 and 1/2 year old nephew (who weighs 175 lbs) board because he was a minor and there was to be a bus transfer/connection en route. "Kids under age 18 can only ride 8 AM to 8 PM without a parent" - words of Charles W. and Corinne, EVEN THOUGH GREYHOUND'S OWN WEBSITE SAYS FOR OVER AGE 17 THERE ARE NO RESTRICTIONS. And even though any connection would have happened in broad daylight, as departure time was gonna be after 6 AM as the bus was running late! As we left, denied a boarding pass, the sun was rising! I truly think it was reverse discrimination of these employees against us, as we were white, and after the national events this past week (Texas and Minnesota), must have given them a chip on their shoulders. Great to use the "public accommodation" mantra when it suits your race, but easy to ignore it when its on the other foot. His mom should consider a lawsuit. Will never use Greyhound again. It's run like the city of Flint or Detroit. read more

Seriously disgusted right now. This is the worst business as a whole and the cinci location is an obvious crap hole. I called the 1800 number to get a ticket home for my brother and waited on hold for 35 minutes. So I thought surely I can order it online. Then come to find out, to buy a ticket for someone else you have to pay an extra $18 on top of the ticket price! Really!? So I call the good all cinci branch instead of the 1800 number and what do I get? "Customer service how can I help you?" When I ask to buy a ticket to get my brother home, no can do. You have to call the 1800#. And I'm told in the most ghetto unprofessional manner that "you might as well buy it online because you ain't gettin around that $18 charge." Greed. read more

i traveled from los angeles to spokane and than back again on the return trip i booked on-line and left at 11:35 a.m. 3/13/14 to arrive in los angeles on 3/14/14 at 3:35 p.m.. well during the stopover in sacramento that was at 8:10 a.m. there was a time change (daylight savings) and we didn't arrive until an hour later having to wait for the next bus at 11:35 making are arrival time in l.a. 7:35 p.m.. how can a company as big as this not be aware of daylight savings, and have there computers reflect this. i sent a letter to them and received no reply which is very bad customer service. read more

My first time to ride a bus. I booked at premium price so I could have Premium Boarding and bought 2 tickets so I could both seats in a row. I was really looking forward to the adventure. Driver never asked or announced for Premium boarding and so I was left with the last seat on the bus even though I bought and paid for 2 seats. Drivers reaction was "too bad, that ain't going to happen". "You should have told me". As he was about to pull out, he decided to let me have the two unusable seats directly behind him. I had to ride with my right leg out in the aisle. #Greyhound, you turned an adventure and a new customer to a most unhappy one. Absolutely, this is my last bus trip! read more

The station itself, is better than some I went to (Alabama ones are the worst) but also not great. The seats are uncomfortable and too few, the floor is dirty and no wifi. The restaurant was okay but only because I was starving. Basically, I was going from Columbus OH to Baton Rouge LA. Cincinnati was my first stop and transfer, and I was supposed to catch a bus to Atlanta GA. However when I got there, I asked at the desk what terminal to wait at, he told me which one so I went to wait. About 30 mins AFTER my bus was supposed to leave, there was an announcement for a bus to Florida leaving from a different terminal to the one I was at. Worried (correctly) that this was my bus, I checked again and yes, he'd originally sent me to the wrong terminal. This happened again and again during my trip - no-one who works for Greyhound has any idea how to do their job, i swear. Anyway, I got into the line, which by now was long, and of course was told they'd over-booked the bus. I bought my ticket in advance to avoid such crap, but there was literally double the amount of people waiting than the bus can take. How on earth can a well-known company like Greyhound essentially double-book a bus? Because they have a monopoly on inter-state bus travel and don't give a s*** about their customers, that's how. So i had to wait 3 hours (at midnight) for the next bus, on a new itinerary, no apology, just a 'lunch voucher' worth $5. In the end, the rest of the journey went okay-ish, no major mess-ups, except for the fact that I ended up in Baton Rouge SIX HOURS later than originally scheduled. Bottom line: Greyhound is cheaper than flying, but still not worth the extortionate rates they charge for terrible service. It gets you where you need to be in the end, but prepare for long delays, bad service and an uncomfortable ride. Would not advise for long journeys unless you really have to. read more

My son's back pack was "lost" on his way home during his Christmas vacation. When he arrived (Sunday) at his destination (Dayton, Ohio) he was told to call the Cincinnati station for his luggage. However no one answered the numerous times I called. The next day (Monday) I reached someone and they found my son's back pack. Tuesday night we drove the 100 miles to pick up his stuff, only to be told it wasn't there. We were told it may have been forwarded to its original destination (Dayton). So we drove to Dayton, where the lady said they didn't have anything and suggested we call Cincinnati again. Christmas Eve I called Cincinnati and spoke to Alan who confirmed that my son's luggage was not there and he recommended I call the warehouse in Texas. I called the luggage claim warehouse and was told I need to file a complaint with the station that lost his luggage originally. It will take up to 90 for them to do anything. My son leaves in 3 days. The customer service has been a joke. I have gotten NO help and NO ONE who can do anything except tell me to call someone else. I feel sorry for anyone who has to travel with Greyhound. read more

Let me start by saying my experience with Greyhound was by necessity. I totaled my car when two sweet lovable deer decided to kamikaze me while I was going 70 mph on the interstate. They ain't lovable no more, I can tell you that. Bastards. Anyway, I'm stranded 200 miles from home and was told Greyhound busses run from Akron to Cincinnati and the first one leaves at 5:50 AM. I arrive at 4:50 AM, although the Greyhound ticket counter doesn't open until 9 AM. Well, the 5:50 AM bus is a no-show. Next bus is 12:50 PM. Do the math! Almost SEVEN hours sitting in some seriously uncomfortable steel mesh seats. I call the Customer 'Service' number and a CSR who's rolling-eyes I could actually hear tells me she can't help me and wasn't very sympathetic at all to my situation. Why didn't the bus show? "I don't know, SIR", was her aggravated response, emphasis on "SIR". I love that. Anyway, I settled in for 7 straight SportCenters with no volume. During that time I was asked for money by panhandlers three times, was asked to assist someone off the toilet, saw a woman urinate on herself, and lost count of those walking around aimlessly while talking out loud to no one. Keep in mind these people were not there to catch a bus. Eventually I found myself boarding the bus to Columbus. Once there we had a THREE HOUR wait for the bus to Cincinnati. During this time I suffered through The View, Dr Oz, and Dr Phil. Man, that was pure hell and is probably what's running non-stop at Guantonomo Bay. I found the bus ride into Cinci pleasant and the nightmare ended. Pros: the price was cheap, the busses were clean and the drivers professional. Cons: One bus never came and delayed my arrival by 7 hours, the phone CSRs were rude and inefficient with the simplest requests, the stations (no reflection on Greyhound) are full of questionable and sketchy people. I might be posting a review in the wrong area because I would like to speak of my recent round trip experience from Cincinnati to Pasadena, Maryland which means I got a taste of Pittsburgh and Columbus. Regardless, I am speaking of Greyhound as a whole. This was my first time using Greyhound and I have no experience with anyone else (such as Megabus) to compare it to. However, I don't feel like one should have to compare it in order to review it. The wifi feature is good and as to be expected on the go, is iffy at best (no big deal). The smaller complaints I have is the fact that the doors are not automatic which is tough to deal with considering most passengers have luggage (why?) I will never ride on a Greyhound bus again. In theory, it's a great way to travel.....and it SHOULD be a great way to travel, however, the bulk of employees that I had experience with were rude, unprofessional, condescending, and bordered on being abusive to us passengers. If you can imagine one of the old Marine Corp movies with the drill sergeant screaming at a platoon....this is how one of our drivers yelled into the speaker. When one of the passengers had not silenced his phone quick enough like instructed, she actually turned up the volume and yelled to everyone, "Don't make me pull this bus over!" (was this a physical threat or ?) This same driver announced in the speaker that she would be pulling over in a gas station for 7 minutes, against Greyhound's policy and that she had her own policy. She instructed loudly and again, in that same Marine Corp tone that anyone wanting to smoke would stand outside by the right rear side of the bus to do so. When a few passengers straggled toward the right front of the bus, she literally busted through some people and yelled, "Do you not understand ENGLISH or are you just stupid?!?!" to those people (who actually WERE foreigners. I don't consider myself necessarily patriotic but I was truly embarrassed about this....this horrible representation that was given to them from a country that is all about equality, etc. This driver was not the only employee who acted in this manner and that's the scariest part.....I can understand (almost) having a single employee not carrying out their job well.......I witnessed a number of employees at different stations acting and talking in this same manner! I also have taken into account that sometimes one needs to be FIRM in dealing with situations and rules but what I'm speaking of goes much deeper than that. How can the 'higher ups' not know this? Or worse, DO they know this and do nothing about it? Regardless, as a PAYING CUSTOMER, I have never been talked to or treated this shabbily in my life! BOO TO GREYHOUND!!!!! read more
