Stopped in to grab some electric guitar strings, as I was in the area. Immediately appreciated the vibe; a customer (I'm assuming) was playing/testing a potential guitar purchase with extreme competence, providing my shopping experience with a warm, pleasant acoustic accompaniment. Now, I am a complete musical novice, so it was nice to talk to the owner, who knew what the heck I needed and helped me find the right type of strings for my Schecter Damien Platinum-6 Special. Unfortunately I failed to grab his name, but his friendly and welcoming demeanor seemed heartfelt, in a way that most retail experiences lack, such that I don't see myself shopping elsewhere in the future for my musical needs. While Gresham is a little out of the way, I'd rather reward small business excellence over commercial convenience any day of the week. Sure, I only purchased two sets of strings, but my five-minute foray here was more impactful than any shopping experience in recent memory. I will definitely be back! read more

Absolutely blown away by my experience here with Shine. Rad little home shop with a great selection of pedals, strings, and guitars. My Peavey hasn't been touched in years, and fell to a decrepit state. In less than 30 minutes he had my bass playing like new, and left with it the same day! The owner helped and very kindly let us know the issues that her guitar had and that she would have an easier time with a better quality instrument. I always try to buy local and support other small businesses in my local area. Gresham guitar does not disappoint with excellent quality and top-notch customer service. You might find a cheaper guitar on amazon but it won't be set up and ready to play. Amazon won't help you find a teacher, encourage and inspire your child to keep playing. So, I sought out a guitar shop that was small and complete with a nice selection. Ive been in too many stores where the guys tried selling me an instrument like a car of the year. I walked in to simply get nylon strings and maybe get a look at the selection of guitars. Instantly I was a fan! It's like a house; filled with guitars . Reminds me a lot of a drum store which I favored in Cali. I went in and met the gentlemen behind the register; He was knowledgeable and knew what I needed . I appreciated the genuineness when it came to the products I was about to invest in. I left with strings that's had me excited to play more, not because the strings were so much of improvement but the fact that it was a shared joy, a moment where a musician wanted to share something from excitement! I chose to invest into an electric guitar and I've been happy with my purchase . I invested with new strings, I've become so enthralled in learning more electric guitar. Great music store with unique equipment. I came in and bought a set of strings and a Small Stone phase pedal. The friendly owner is very knowledgeable about guitar and bass instruments and did not pressure me to buy anything. He has a nice selection of instruments like Fender, and G&L and some cool amps from companies like Vox and VHT. There were a bunch of acoustics there too but I didn't check them out. His cat roams the store and is friendly. I try to support locally owned music stores when shopping and this is one I highly recommend. read more

Haven't gone into the store, so it may not be a fair assessment. Called in because I'm having trouble with my new electric. The first thing he said to me was "Why don't you take it back to where you got it if it's new?" instead of offering to take a look at it for me. Also said diagnostics wasn't his field, which is weird for a shop that offers repair. I bought the guitar online, so it's not a viable option for me to go to Minnesota when I live in Oregon. Giving two stars because at least he gave me the names of other guitar places. I was just expecting a friendlier tone. read more

Been in this store twice. First time the guy who runs it was super nice. Had a great conversation and played some guitars. But the second time the guy was a total jerk. Acted like a was a complete inconvenience when I stated asking questions. He's like a light switch, maybe he was having a bad day but don't take it out on your customers. read more

This is the best guitar shop I've been to. It's clean, organized, has a decent selection of guitars and hardware, and it is all affordably priced. Shine is very knowledgeable, helpful, and treats you with a lot of respect. If he doesn't have the tools to help you, he gives you a list of other places that may help you with your needs. The atmosphere makes you feel welcomed and at home. Never went to another shop, since my first visit. Easily the best guitar shop I've been to. read more
