MINUS 5 STARS It has been confirmed that the filling that they supposedly filled at this dentist office, they didn't even get the whole cavity out, and then because they messed up with the filling, my tooth broke, I finally have confirmation of that through photographs and x-rays from another dentist, much to my Absolute horror, there is still a cavity in that tooth and I paid these people to do a filling. They really screwed up. Also because the woman who claims she's a hygienist that works in this office, scraped out my silver filling, I now have a very bad cavity in that tooth. There was no problem with that tooth until she did a teeth cleaning, and my amalgam came out on my bib. if you're reading this review, you've been warned. Dr. Gregory Vaysleyb BROKE A DRILL off "inside the canal of my tooth" while putting on a temporary cap. It was "two hours" of "horror" and "no compassion" (he would not even give me nitrous oxide to help me through this ordeal). I was a victim of his poor dental skills. I never went back to him!!! If I can save another person with this Review from his poor dental skills, then, at least, something positive came out of this horrible experience with him. Months later I found out that he did not give me the proper x-rays to be able to predict future problems with my teeth. And, again, suffered more dental problems because of him and lost a tooth. read more

I was recommended to Dr. Dan by my father, who was "attempting to help me" after neglecting to take me to the dentist my entire childhood. I paid for what I could, he "offered" to "handle" what was left. Dr. Dan was extremely insensitive when I had a panic attack, stating we could for-go the shots 'if I didn't want them' because I held up my hand and asked him to STOP. There needs to be ample time from the topical gum numbing ointment to take effect before you shove a needle into my upper arch in the roof of my MOUTH. That was the first red flag. On the follow up appointments, I asked what work was being done and we were simply doing crowns. I saw that his office also specialized in implants, so I'm wondering why this "expert" in his profession chose to crown teeth that were dead. So I asked him outright, in the chair: 'what would happen if you crowned a dead tooth?' You want to know the answer I got? "I GUESS WE WILL FIND OUT" Who says that? This man also filed my teeth down without asking me. I e always had sharper pointed teeth. He took the liberty, without asking me, to file down the points on the front teeth I have (my canines/eye teeth) Upon further inspection- the crowns are not even fully sealed. Ya, this man did FOUR crowns in my upper arch and NONE of them are flush against the gum line on the inner side. Black holes where any food/debri can get in and cause the infection on these already problematic teeth to become worse. This "doctor" did not help me. This doctor sped up my timeline. I partially blame my father, but I also blame the professional who didn't feel it necessary to consult with their patient before making life changing choices. I would, without a shadow of a doubt, NEVER recommend this place to a soul. The older gentleman, I believe who is dr dans father? (Could be mistaken) seemed to be genuine and kind - and the nurses were also nice. Front desk staff needed a little work, and dr Dan gets an all around NO from me. Don't waste your money. There are better dentists out there, just gotta get out of LA to find one. read more

The dentists son was working on my root canal. He broke a hole in it and I was in pain for a year a half! When I came back to them few weeks after with a pain they said they don't see anything. This is by far the best dentist office. My husband has been coming here for teeth cleaning for over a decade and I have been coming here for 8 years now also. The front desk lady is very friendly and very responsive in terms of communication. It's very easy to schedule the appointment and the wait time is decent. I wish I could give negative 10 stars. This dentist has messed my mouth up for life and I'll continually need work to repair the damage he did. From what I understand, this is a father-son business. I had been trying to find a trustworthy dentist for years in LA and a friend recommend this place. Well I ended up with the son. I went for a basic cleaning and left with multiple chipped teeth. The assistant completed the cleaning then he saw I had a minor chip- a chip I had for years. I got used to it but he said "I could fix it." Next thing I know and without consulting me, he's shaving down my tooth. Then he started shaving down other teeth. I recall at one point pushing his hand away and saying, "whoa, what are you doing?" And he just ignored it saying it was fine. I left with crooked teeth and had perfectly straight teeth prior. His reckless job also led to other teeth getting chipped within a day. After numerous complaints, they saw me and he shaved down more of my teeth after denying he had done anything to begin with. I want to stop here and say that I actually apologized to him for getting upset. He Rubbed my shoulder. The first time I visited he did that and I thought it was so weird how much he rubbed my shoulder. I left with chipped teeth and have continued to need work done all because of this careless jerk. I recall when I was there numerous loyal patients making a point to snub me and I'm sure they'll snub this review. And like many good gatekeepers, for a while I avoided leaving a review thinking it was my fault but after numerous jobs to fix the problem he started- I could no longer keep quiet. Please avoid this place. It is not worth it. If you do go, go for a cleaning and DO NOT LET THEM DO ANYTHING ELSE TO YOU. Trust me. read more

My initial review was extremely accurate. If you're looking for an honest dentist with a super qualified, intelligent staff, Dr. V's office is the place! Before visiting Dr. V, I had a previous dentist INSIST that I get a cavity filled. I visited Dr. V for a second opinion, and he assured me that it was sooo small and just needed to be monitored, i.e. no filling. Fast-forward six years and my cavity is still small and hasn't needed to be filled yet! Every time I visit Dr. V's office, they pay close attention to the cavity size but assure me that it isn't 'filling time' yet. What more could I ask for in a dentist? These guys a pretty no nonsense, honest, fairly priced and a massive relief to find in LA. I was recommended this family dentist by a work colleague after other dentists in the LA had repeatedly tried to rip me off and sell me things i don't need. (Avoid century smile like a hawk). These guys did not. I was charged 120 dollars for a tooth extraction which isnt that much more than what you pay in Europe, given the cost of living in LA it seemed fair. ( to compare I had been quoted 450 dollars at santa monica oral surgeons plus 100 for xrays and another 100 for a consultation...also when did dentists here stop doing routine tooth extractions and sending you to oral surgeons do they get a commission?). You know the money you pay is going straight back into the practice instead of decorative wall art because the place isnt fancy. The simplicity if it shouldn't put you off, if anything it makes them more trust worthy, i know im not funding anything that isn't essential to their work. There were zero complications which is amazing giving now much i was shaking through the whole process, but the nurse was great with me. I plan to get a implant but they respected my wishes to have the screw element put in by my family dentist in Spain (theres just a certain brand of implant i want) But i will likely go back to these guys for all my other dental needs whilst here in the States. They did say that if i went through the whole process with them they would charge me 2000 dollars which is what you would get charged in Europe as-well. I don't have insurance ( there will be an angry review about that somewhere) so i was super grateful to these guys. And i have colleagues at work who have had extreme work done with them and have said they are excellent! read more

This is the first dentist office I have gone to that wasn't my father's. I was impressed. THIS OFFICE WILL NOT CHARGE YOU FOR THINGS YOU DON'T NEED TO BE CHARGED FOR! Ruby was my hygienist and she was GREAT! She put me at ease and made me laugh(maybe not good when you have tools in your mouth lol! ). Dr. Vaysleyb came in after the cleaning and XRAYS and looked over my teeth very quickly. He was nice and gentle. Overall great experience: -superclean office. bathroom,too. -nice staff, thorough cleaning and XRAY job -With no insurance it was $70 for cleaning and XRAYs ! Dr Vaysleyb and his staff are very nice cuddly folks who provide courteous service with as little pain as possible (even his hygienist is great) and his prices are very low ($60 cleaning, $450 or $600 crowns depending on type). However, as far as end results, you may get what you pay for. I get a lot of messages on this so I will say a little more: The crown he put on was completely different from my tooth in shape and color as if they didn't go by the mold they made and used a generic one. It looked bloated. It was a back tooth and I ok'd it since it would not show. He also failed to see a cavity in the same x-rays that my previous doc had pointed out a yr before. He went on and on how other doctors like to make work for themselves. I insisted and took new xrays (cavity worse after a year and more obvious) and then once he saw the cavity, he started going on why didn't they fix this? This could become a root canal ....!!? I have always had complete mental breakdowns in the dental chair--I am talking tears and hyperventilating--until I met Dr. Gregory. He pulled my wisdom tooth in 5 minutes; no meds, no tears, no pain, no problem. His son performed a root canal that went so smoothly that it was actually relaxing (even though he informed me my teeth weren't as white as I thought they were). I didn't even need to take an ibuprofen after the procedure. I have never felt any pain or fear or regret after visiting these exemplary oral surgeons. If you want low cost and excellent results, visit Dr. Gregory Vaysleyb! My wisdom teeth have been bothering me so I decided to visit Vaysleb. His staff are sweet, friendly and accommodating. On my first visit, I got all four wisdom teeth taken out! The staff had called me two days before my first appointment to let me know to eat something before I came in. I was hoping to have my wisdom teeth taken out the same day. I was relieved that I didn't have to schedule another appointment after my X-RAY to do so. Dr. Gregory Vaysleb is nice and very gentle. He made sure my mouth was numb and listened to me if I said I was in pain. I felt at ease and comfortable during the whole process. The assistant I had was super friendly! For all four wisdom teeth extracted and with X-RAYS, my bill was $900! He gave a $100 discount. (note - prices depend on how impacted the teeth were.) The dentist doesn't use stitches that dissolve so you have to schedule another appointment after one week. I like that a lot because I wanted to make sure my healing process was going the way it should. When I went to the pharmacy to get my antibiotics filled, it was actually a $300 prescription! I called the dentist back and asked if I could get another prescription that was cheaper and they changed it for me no problem. The staff called me the next day after the surgery to follow up. 5 stars for a dentist is super generous of me, but I must be in a 5 star kinda mood. I'm 100% skittish about the dentist, just thinking about it makes my teeth ache but I came here and it was the quickest cleaning I have ever gotten AND they offered a numbing cream for my gums which is unheard of from my previous experiences at the dentist. I went really early so there was street parking but it's only 1 hour parking and I was there a tad over an hour. I got lucky and no ticket but there is parking around the corner from what I hear, I just don't know where... :) I got the usual lecture about flossing but was presented with an alternative I never thought of before and so far, I'll keep going back. I came to Dr. Gregory recently to do the root canal. Obviously, it is not fun. Every time I come to the dental office I am a little afraid. But Dr. Gregory started this job less painful as possible. Then Dr. David took over. He worked very accurately and carefully. No pain. Looking at my X-rays I saw that the job was done very good. I've been going to Dr. Vaysleyb for about three years. I chose him through yelp after an absolutely terrible experience with a dentist on my old HMO plan. Vaysleyb was on a different, blue cross PPO that I had, at least when I started. I no longer carry dental insurance, and I don't think Vaysleyb takes blue cross anymore, anyway. I should also say, based upon my other experiences that, unless you have some fantastic Cadillac dental insurance, be very, very wary of any Dentist on an HMO Dental plan. When my employer offered a low end HMO dental, every single dentist on the HMO list had more than ten nightmare Yelp reviews. Not so with Dr. Vaysleyb, though! My experience at his office has always been positive. Other reviewers are right about the lady who answers the phone and handles the billing. She can be very abrupt. The hygienists are gentle and friendly. The office is clean. They have a digital system that quickly sends your Xrays to a flat screen in front of you dentist's chair. I've had regular checkups with him, plus one repaired filling. Prices did not make me groan, even though I pay all out of pocket. I'm glad I found Dr. Vaysleyb, and I will continue to use his practice. The yelp picture shows the rear entrance to his office, off the back alley. The front is on the south side of Pico. However, the practice is going to move, soon, to Westwood blvd. Even closer to me! read more

They are an excellent team and most notably the ever happy, highly-observant and skilled Ruby is a super kind person and best of all she notices little details that make you aware of where problems could arise in the future. That really makes them stand out. In all truth, I have been coming here for 30 years!! They never try to sell you expensive stuff just capable and well-educated in their dentistry skills. Awesome stuff. I had a cleaning last week and then found out I needed all four (!) wisdom teeth out. Yow. They were great at the cleaning, explaining what was good and not good about my teeth situation, and telling me what they were doing and why. Then today, I had the wisdom teeth out. I was a bit worried since I've had issues with local anesthetic not working on me in the past, but no problems, and the whole procedure took less time than expected. And to top it all off, there's a great magazine selection and giant tv screens they use to show you your x-rays. Super rad! read more
