Short wait. Very friendly staff. Dr. Colon took his time and listened to my complaints.

He has always taken the time to thoroughly discuss all aspects of my medical care and given good suggestions for improving my health, I am disappointed to know that he is leaving this practice but hope that in my future retirement and subsequent enrollment in Medicare I will be able to continue to use him as my physician. In my interactions with Dr.Laue and the San Marcos Family Medicine practice, I've happily encountered health care providers who: 1. Sit down and talk with you. At length. I've never had the sense of being rushed. 2. Discuss in detail the possible causes of symptoms, and the potential implications of any treatment. 3. Take a methodical and evidence-based approach to testing, actually discouraging some increasingly popular (yet very costly) tests unless they are strongly indicated by symptoms, the patient's family and health history, or other factors. In an age when too many medical practices seem to be little more than sales offices for labs, device makers and drug companies, this family practice bucks the trend. Dr. Laue and his colleagues put the focus where it belongs: on listening to the patient and prescribing the treatment that's really needed. You've gotta love that.

I came in for a routine physical, as I recently received health insurance for the first time in 10 years (God bless America). Mossburg discussed my health in an intelligent and friendly manner with laptop in hand, taking detailed notes. At first, I was caught off guard by her incessant typing while maintaining steady eye contact and asking thoughtful questions. I appreciated it afterwards, though, as she leaves you with a thorough report of your condition along with the steps taken and those recommended. If you get any lab work done, she also leaves a detailed recorded message on a coded phone system thing that you call in to hear your results. Very cool and convenient. The office isn't new or fancy but tries with the faux wood flooring and Pier 1 wall art. Forget the office--good doctors are hard to find, and Mossburg's a good one.

Not once did I ever take a family member to her and she not ask how we were doing and about our personal lives she would remember and bring things up we discussed about them to. Unfortunately, she took personal leave a couple of years ago and I never got my chance to be cared by her and I have medical concerns...it's hard finding a physician you trust and you like. I don't think we will find anyone better than her (she reminded me of my childhood doctor we had for many years) but I'm sure we will find someone up to par.

I came in with valid health concerns and was completely dismissed. Despite clearly expressing my symptoms and specifically asking for a referral to an endocrinologist, I was sent to a gynecologist instead--because apparently, that's the only way PCOS is treated here No real listening, no actual plan. I ended up switching to a new PCP who took me seriously on my very first visit--ran blood tests, gave me the referrals I originally asked for, connected me with a nutritionist, and is actively helping me manage my health. If you want a provider who actually listens, respects your concerns, and takes action, and treats you like a literal person....look elsewhere.

I have a 4 .5 pound "Certified Service Animal" She is a Diabetic Alert Dog, she detects changes in the smell of my breath. I had a bad feeling going into this that something bad was going to happen and I was right. My service animal was never in the furniture or on the floor. She sat in my lap the entire time. The front desk receptionist never made any comments about the dog. We were taken back to the exam room. A student ask if I was George's wife. I stated yes. According to the administrator"Well she was following HIPPA" Never had this happen before. The NP came in and directly engaged me in conversation about my dog. She wanted proof of certification that she was "A SERVICE ANIMAL" I advised her she was violating ADA laws, that she could ask two questions. My husband advised she is a " Certified SERVICE ANIMAL" she detects changes in the smell in my breath. I gave her the certification. At this point she took care(badly) of my husband. Prescribing drugs to him that she admitted is normally only prescribed by a psychiatrist. She want him to see another doctor 3 months down the road. She told him she was going to draw blood and refer him to another doctor. She left the room. I got up and left. She is supposed to be trained in the laws that surround disability, and clearly is not. George stated that a woman came into take blood and started sneezing. She stated that she was allergic to dogs. But her bosses were not aware that was the case. I am sure that everybody in that office was aware that there was an animal in the clinic. Why didn't this staff member advise her bosses that she was allergic? When I called to cancel any additional care for George with this group, I was accused of not telling the truth, that the one time that I had her in the office before, I must have hid or concealed her. This group does not follow up on treatment plans, they are rude and aggressive. Final question: Where is the physician that should be overseeing treatment plans and patient care? Seems to be MIA. This clinic is a waste of time.
