There is simply no argument…read morepermissible on the issue: my family have been eating their bread for two generations now, and they are unrivalled locally. It's not just their bread either: their sandwiches are justly famous. If you need proof then just go and stand outside their main branch a little before lunchtime on any weekday, and watch the queue begin to develop until it snakes out onto the street. My personal favourite is the tuna salad - so packed with filling it requires two hands to hold it (and even then watch out!), laced with slices of hardboiled egg and crispy salad and sliced onion. Yum! Their roast ham sandwich also has always been a thing of wonder: as a child I would stare at one bemused, wondering why nowhere else gave you nearly as much filling as bread - and what fine quality ham at that, nothing but the best. Of course I must mention their cakes here - my favourites are the vanilla slice (the finest pink icing in Yorkshire!) and the chelsea bun, but all of the rest are good too. Like everything about Hofmann's, it's packed with Yorkshire goodness.
