I don't think I'll ever be able to give up Greggs' sausage rolls. They're so marvellously high in salt and fat but taste so damn good that I've developed Greggs Tourettes and every time I pass I find myself involuntarily diving in to buy one.
It's not my fault, I've usually had my lunch and I'm not even hungry, I just NEED one. Another item of my staple Greggs diet is the chicken and pesto baguette with sundried tomatoes. Again, probably laden with calories and other hidden fatty goodness, but it has to be done.
The North Street branch is small and is always packed with other salivating Greggs Tourettes sufferers, so the 5 minutes queuing is usually spent mentally justifying the necessity of the impending purchase and dribbling over the cakes and sweets on the way to the prize.
Greggs is great because it's cheap (70-odd p for a sausage roll and £2.60 for a baguette), and it's tasty and that's enough justification for me. read more
